The Fake Heiress's Inner Thoughts Were Heard by Her Entire Family

Chapter 8: Shen Xi

Chapter 8: Shen Xi

Chapter 8

The phone kept ringing incessantly in the early morning, waking Jing Yi from her deep sleep.

She reluctantly and irritably got up, picked up her phone, and answered, "Hello? Who is it?"

"Jing Yi! You came back to the country and didn't even contact me! Are you trying to end our friendship?!"

The voice on the other end was so loud that Jing Yi instinctively held the phone away from her ear, but the shouting was enough to completely dispel any remaining drowsiness.

Jing Yi finally realized that the person on the other end was her good friend—Shen Xi!

When Jing Yi had first arrived, her original self had already been studying Financial Management at a foreign university for three years.

If it were just ordinary conversation, it would have been fine, as Jing Yi's English was quite good.

But when she returned to school, she was completely lost. She didn't understand anything about financial management and couldn't comprehend the various terms and jargon the teachers used.

Sure enough, in the first semester after returning, Jing Yi failed her courses, and so did Shen Xi.

Moreover, if they didn't pass the make-up exams, neither of them would be able to get their graduation certificates.

During that time, the two of them were like comrades-in-arms, spending every day in the library, helping each other with questions and answers. They managed to pass their make-up exams and became very good friends in the process.

After graduation, Shen Xi had tearfully said goodbye, making Jing Yi promise to come find her when she returned to the country.

Now things had become complicated. Over the past half month, Jing Yi had received so much information that she completely forgot to contact Shen Xi.

"Xixi..."

"Oh, so you still remember me! I thought you, Jing Yi, had become so forgetful!"

Jing Yi held the phone away from her ear again, realizing her friend was truly furious.

"Xixi, listen to me. I didn't mean to not contact you. It's just that I've had so many things to deal with recently. I just finished handling everything and was planning to contact you in a few days."

Jing Yi spoke sincerely, but her eyes betrayed her guilt.

There was silence on the other end. Thinking Shen Xi was still angry, Jing Yi continued to apologize.

Finally, a voice came through, "Fine, we'll talk when we meet. You have time today, right?"

"Yes, yes, of course! If Xixi wants to meet, how could I not have time?"

After agreeing on a time and place, Jing Yi hung up the phone.

She breathed a sigh of relief. If Xixi found out that she had been playing around for half a month and didn't even think to contact her, she wouldn't hear the end of it for a year.

But why had Shen Xi been so easy to persuade just now?

Jing Yi had thought that her poor excuse would surely be seen through.

"Well, we'll talk when we meet!"

Jing Yi shook her head, deciding not to worry about it anymore, and got up to go to the bathroom.

"Aunt Wang, I won't be home for dinner tonight. Could you please let uncle and auntie know?"

Hearing Jing Yi's voice, Aunt Wang came out of the kitchen. "Are you not eating lunch either?"

Lunch? Jing Yi's hurried footsteps came to a halt.

Although she was reluctant, Jing Yi painfully declined. If she was late meeting Shen Xi, her friend would surely be even more upset.

Seeing the reluctance on Jing Yi's face, Aunt Wang couldn't help but smile. "I can make it for you tomorrow. Oh, I've made some desserts. Would you like a little something to tide you over?"

Jing Yi nodded eagerly and followed Aunt Wang into the kitchen.

How beautiful!

Jing Yi carefully took one and put it in her mouth. Her eyes immediately lit up.

So delicious! This must be what they call sweet but not cloying!

Aunt Wang, watching her expression, smiled so much that the wrinkles at the corners of her eyes bunched up.

It had to be said, cooking for Jing Yi gave her a real sense of accomplishment.

Jing Yi stopped, looking longingly at the little desserts in front of her. If she ate any more, she'd never be able to leave the kitchen.

"Uncle Li, can I take out the black supercar from the garage today?" Jing Yi asked, having found Uncle Li in the courtyard.

Jing Yi had been eyeing that car for a long time. A few days ago, she had asked Jing Zeyou about it, and to her surprise, it turned out to be his. She had thought that given her big brother's personality, he would prefer more steady and dignified cars.

Uncle Li smiled warmly, his attitude gentle. "Of course, Miss Jing. The young master said you could drive any car in the garage. I'll go get you the keys."

Jing Zeyou had already arranged everything a few days ago.

Jing Yi followed Uncle Li, excitement evident in her expression.

"Uncle Li, you can just call me Xiao Yi." Being called 'Miss Jing' all the time felt a bit awkward.

She wondered how her big brother felt every time Uncle Li called him 'young master'. Jing Yi was a bit curious.

Uncle Li took the keys and led Jing Yi to the garage, still maintaining his professional and polite demeanor.

"That wouldn't be appropriate, Miss Jing. Now that you're part of the Jing family, I should naturally demonstrate my utmost professionalism. Miss Jing, the supercar you requested is over there, and here are the keys."

Jing Yi resigned herself to the fact that the title wouldn't be changed. It seemed like doing otherwise would be a slight against his professional career.

Jing Yi took the keys, thanked Uncle Li, and walked towards the car she had been admiring for so long.

Is this really the world-renowned 'Black Night'?!

Jing Yi walked up to a black supercar, her slightly heated gaze making it clear how much she liked this car.

The matte black body, the texture of the piano lacquer finish, the streamlined shape, the seamless connection between the windshield and side windows.

This was simply a work of art! Jing Yi almost didn't want to drive it out as she admired it.

But, opportunities like this were rare!

A melodious sound emerged from the supercar's exhaust, echoing in the air as Jing Yi drove the black supercar out of the villa.

In front of the villa was an open road where Jing Yi could enjoy a brief period of acceleration.

The scenery on both sides of the road flew by, and there wasn't a hint of fear on Jing Yi's face. Instead, she became increasingly excited, feeling as if her heartbeat was synchronizing with the supercar's roar.

This truly deserved its ranking as one of the top three supercars in the world!

As she approached the city roads, Jing Yi slowed down, driving steadily.

Although there weren't many cars on the road, she didn't plan to speed up again. After all, there are a thousand rules of the road, but safety comes first!

The smile on Jing Yi's face remained radiant.

Jing Yi parked in front of a traditional courtyard-style restaurant specializing in official cuisine. She looked inside to make sure she hadn't come to the wrong place.

"Excuse me, where's the parking lot?"

A waiter at the entrance quickly came forward and pointed Jing Yi in the right direction. After Jing Yi's car drove off, another waiter came out and gently nudged him.

"Why didn't you offer to park the customer's car? Aren't you afraid the supervisor will find out?"

The waiter's smile became a bit stiff. His gaze remained fixed on the black supercar, his tone somewhat grudging.

"Open your eyes and look at what kind of car that is! If there was even a tiny scratch, forget about the measly amount the supervisor would dock from our pay, my entire life savings wouldn't be enough to cover it!"

Hearing this, the person next to him became even more curious, craning his neck to look, but only catching a glimpse of the black supercar's rear as it disappeared.
