Chapter 57 The True Mastermind

Chapter 57 The True Mastermind

Just then, He Tian’s henchmen came in. “Big brother He, we’ve taken care of everyone outside.” Each of the henchmen was carrying a gasping, half-dead person in their arms; they were the few remaining assassins that Wang Feng and He Tian had left behind just now.

Seeing the terrible state the assassins were in, the faces of the five men before Wang Feng changed noticeably. If it were just Wang Feng and He Tian, they still had a chance to escape. But now, unless they suddenly grew wings, it would be impossible for them to escape, not when they were surrounded by so many men. They might as well just wait here for death.

At the thought, looks of despair formed on their faces simultaneously.

At first, they thought that they only had easy prey to deal with. But it turned out that they were the easy prey instead.

“Talk. Who’s the real mastermind?” Wang Feng spoke slowly as he stared at the despair-laden men. He did not fear that these men would try to escape.

There was only one exit, which was practically sealed. There was nowhere for these people to run.

“There’s no mastermind. Everything was my idea,” said the muscular man loudly. All the men he had stationed outside had been taken out, so he knew that he had reached the end of his road.

Before, Wang Feng might have believed him. But now, how could he believe such a blatant lie?

Wang Feng walked towards one of He Tian’s henchman, and then he took the unconscious assassin that the henchman was holding. Wang Feng held the assassin’s throat as if he were holding a little chicken. “I know that you’re answering to someone else’s orders. If you don’t talk now, you will suffer the same fate as this guy over here,” said Wang Feng.

“Crack!” Wang Feng snapped the neck of the assassin. It was not a peaceful death; the man had died with his eyes still open.

The crystal clear sound of bones snapping brought a chill down the spine of everyone present. Wang Feng had killed a man without even batting an eye. This guy really had a heart of steel.

“Talk. Who else is involved?” Wang Feng said in a booming voice that shook the eardrums of everyone present.

“Nobody,” the muscular man said, gritting his teeth. Despite having just witnessed the sheer terror that was Wang Feng, the man did not spill his guts.

“Is that so?” Wang Feng laughed. In the next split second, Wang Feng moved in a flash and appeared before one of the muscular man’s henchman. He picked up the henchman and stated coldly, “If you tell me the name of the person who’s giving you orders, I guarantee that you’ll walk away from here alive.”

“I...” The henchman was scared shitless by Wang Feng’s declaration. Wang Feng was a guy who could kill a man without batting an eye. The henchman feared that he would end up dead if he showed even the slightest bit of hesitation.

The tension in this place was so great that the poor guy was already near his breaking point.

Seeing that the man in his hands was nearing his breaking point, Wang Feng yelled louder, “Talk!”

“It’s Bei Enterprise.” The man finally broke under the tension. However, the instant he got the words out, the man felt a sharp pain in his chest. After that, the man’s eyes rolled to the back of his head as he blew out his final breath.

“Hm?” Realizing that the man in his hands had died almost instantly, Wang Feng looked behind the man.

The muscular man had somehow crept forward to stand behind the dead man before he clamped down on the guy’s waist with two hands. He had literally pinched a guy to death.

Using his X-ray vision, Wang Feng could tell that the dead man’s internal organs had been crushed. He had died almost instantly.

“Want to extort intel from us? In your dreams!” The muscular man yelled. He then formed two claws with his hands and took a swipe at Wang Feng.

Seeing the incoming attack, Wang Feng’s face turned cold as he prepared himself to make a move to defend himself. However, someone had beaten him to the punch. “Die!”

A loud and perceptible crack sounded. He Tian had already broken the attacker’s palm. The veins in the attacker’s arm bulged due to pain.

“Talk. Which person from Bei Enterprise is giving the orders?” He Tian stated coldly as he continued to hold the man. He Tian’s methods were no less weaker than Wang Feng’s.

The muscular man did not try to resist He Tian’s hold. “Haha. Keep dreaming if you think you can get anything out of us,” he said. All of a sudden, the man’s body convulsed. After that, the man’s eyes went wide as he, too, blew out his last breath.

A dark streak of blood spilled out from the man’s mouth, carrying a foul stench with it.

“He died just like that?” He Tian stared at the man wide-eyed as if he had just seen a ghost.

Soon, He Tian realized what was going on. He tossed the dead man aside and tried to stop the remaining three men from doing the same. He was too late.

The remaining three men’s eyes widened almost simultaneously. They each died with a dark stream of blood flowing out of the corner of their lips. It was a shocking sight.

All five men had died so unbelievably fast.

“How did that happen?” Wang Feng could not help but be shocked by what he saw.

“Unless I’m mistaken, these guys have cyanide pills hidden in their tooth. It’s especially designed for them to take their own lives,” He Tian said gravely. After that, He Tian opened the mouth of the muscular man. Indeed, there was a squashed tooth inside the man’s mouth.

It was the same as well for the other dead men. All of them died after they had crushed the cyanide pill hidden in their tooth. They had poisoned themselves to death.

These men were cruel even to themselves. No ordinary person would be capable of such suicidal acts.

Too bad these people had thrown away their puny lives before they could tell Wang Feng anything of value. Otherwise, Wang Feng would have gotten what he came for by now.

There was indeed someone else calling the shots behind these people. Shockingly, the mastermind turned out to be someone from Bei Enterprise. Whoever he or she was, Wang Feng feared that they had no way of finding out now. That fact annoyed Wang Feng to his core.

Bei Yunxue had always been on the side of Bei Enterprise. And yet now, the same people from Bei Enterprise were trying to take her out. A scowl formed on Wang Feng’s face at the thought.

“You guys deal with this place. Don’t leave any evidence behind,” He Tian ordered. Then he led Wang Feng out of the factory.

Noticing the dark look on Wang Feng’s face, He Tian said slowly, “Brother, don’t worry. As long as it’s within the bounds of Zhu Hai City, my people can act as spies and infiltrate any organization. Something like this won’t happen again.”

Wang Feng forced out a laugh at He Tian’s comment. “Brother He, you shouldn’t worry too much about this. I’ll take full responsibility for Bei Yunxue’s safety. However, it seems like there’s a mole in your team.”

Wang Feng had uttered the last sentence in a cold and subdued tone.

“Humph. Don’t worry, I’m already aware of that. I’ll deal with it when I get back,” He Tian said. He Tian already knew that there was a traitor among his men even if Wang Feng had not reminded him.

The intel provided to them claimed that the enemy had five, and at most, ten people. Instead, they had run into over 20 people. If Wang Feng had not warned them, their lives would have been in grave danger.

A look of surprise formed on He Tian’s face when he remembered Wang Feng’s warning earlier. “By the way, how did you discover the people hiding in the factory?” He asked.

“Don’t bother asking me that, brother. That’s my secret. You’ll understand it in time,” Wang Feng said with a wave of his hand, clearly having no intention of giving any further explanation.

“Fine, then.” Since Wang Feng had no intention of telling him, He Tian decided to stop asking. Everyone had secrets after all. He Tian himself had a few secrets too. Rather than grilling Wang Feng relentlessly at the risk of angering Wang Feng, it would be better for He Tian to just pretend not to know anything.

They got on the Bentley. Without waiting for the rest of the men, He Tian drove Wang Feng back to No.1 Zhu Cheng.

“One more thing, brother. I noticed that you’ve been training hard lately. I saw the way you fought today, and I think you’re not too far from the inner strength level now. Keep working hard and you’ll experience a giant leap in your skills,” He Tian said. After that, he drove the Bentley away.

“Hey, brother,” someone greeted Wang Feng just as he was about to enter the villa district. Someone came out of the security booth. It was the same person who had lent Wang Feng the motorcycle last night.

Staring at the middle-aged man, Wang Feng asked casually, “Can I help you?”

“It’s nothing. I just want to ask when you are free?” The middle-aged man’s face had an amiable expression as he spoke. Somehow, that look gave Wang Feng goosebumps.

“Could it be that you want me to replace your bike?”

“No. No, that’s not it,” the middle-aged man said and quickly shook his head. “I just want you to teach me how to race. Last night was pretty damn exciting.”

“Huh?” Wang Feng almost doubted his own hearing when he heard the other man’s request. Yesterday, that guy was practically scared out of his shit. Heck, the man was practically dry-heaving by the time Wang Feng had stopped the bike.

Sensing Wang Feng’s reluctance, the man patted his chest and said, “I’m asking whether you’re willing to teach me how to race? Don’t worry. I’ll definitely pay you a fee.”

“You’re a street racer? Well, I didn’t see that coming at all.” Wang Feng let out a laugh. “Fine, then. I’ll let you know when I’m free.”

Wang Feng entered the villa district in huge and quick strides. The middle-aged man could only stare at his back.

The lights in the house were still on. Wang Feng opened the door and immediately saw Bei Yunxue sitting on the couch.

Wang Feng glanced to the left and then to the right. Wang Feng felt a bit hesitant. Why was she not asleep when it was already this late?

Bei Yunxue stood up when she saw Wang Feng. “What took you so long to come home?” She said sulkily.

“Haha. There’s been a hold-up. So I got back a bit late,” Wang Feng said and then released a fake laugh.

“You have no idea how worried I was. I thought something had happened to you.” Bei Yunxue glared at Wang Feng angrily. “Good thing you’re back now. I was just about to call the cops.”

“Haha. It’s alright,” Wang Feng said. The worried look on Bei Yunxue’s face brought a warm sensation into his heart. A woman was worrying about him back at home; she had stayed up and waited for his return despite how late it was. Where else could one find a woman as good as her?

He was blessed to have a woman like Sister Xue as his girlfriend.

“Stop trying to throw me off. Now hurry up and tell me what’s going on. You had this angry look today. You’re definitely hiding something from me,” Bei Yunxue said, seemingly determined to get to the bottom of everything.

“Alright, then. I’ll tell you everything.” Although he had now found out that the mastermind was someone from Bei Enterprise, Wang Feng was still pretty much clueless about Bei Enterprise. In fact, he was hoping to ask Bei Yunxue about it.

“We caught the people behind the attempted robbery,” Wang Feng said, catching Bei Yunxue slightly off guard. After that, she asked in confusion, “Isn’t money their only motive? How can there be a mastermind?”

It was reasonable doubt. What else if not for money that would drive a gang of robbers to rob jewelry stores or banks?

Shaking his head, Wang Feng laughed wryly. “Those robbers are merely pawns. The mastermind is a very terrifying person.”

A worried look form on Bei Yunxue’s face at Wang Feng’s mention of several powerful people who were behind recent events. She reached out to grab Wang Feng’s shoulder. “Then are you injured?” She asked.

“What else can happen to me? I wouldn’t be back here if something happened,” Wang Feng said with a wry smile.

“Then what about those people?”

“Dead,” Wang Feng said with a shrug.

A change went across Bei Yunxue’s face. “Dead?”

A life for a life. That was the way of this society. Still, hearing about it had given Bei Yunxue quite a startle.

As if he had sensed Bei Yunxue’s worry, Wang Feng smiled and answered, “I didn’t kill him. He killed himself.”
