Chapter 223
Chapter 223
"Don't worry, young master," the researcher said with a faint smile in his voice. "We're a legitimate research institute. We won't do anything illegal or unethical."
"As we said before, we just wanted to invite your friend here as a guest."
Daniel let out a cold laugh. "Is this what you call being a guest?"
He pointed at the drowsy Chloe on the monitor in front of them, his voice full of anger:
"She's already so weak, and you still claim you're not doing anything illegal?!"
"Do you think I'm that gullible?!"
The researcher: "..."
How should he explain to this young master that his good friend had simply fallen asleep after beating people up?
Come to think of it, this little miss of the Vampire race first beat up General Rupert, and then various researchers and guards who tried to inject her with experimental drugs.
She was ferocious in a way unbefitting a 13-year-old cub.
The researcher shrugged helplessly:
"Although you may not believe me when I say this, young master, I can assure you that your friend is actually just sleeping."
"Before that, she injured nearly twenty of our staff members."
Hearing this, Daniel immediately fell silent.
Just when the researcher thought the matter was finally resolved, Daniel suddenly spoke again:
"Good for her. Didn't you deserve to get beaten up?"
The researcher: "..."
Daniel rolled his eyes and spat at them:
"Bunch of kidnappers!"
He then started struggling to get off the chair:
"Let me go! I want to see her!"
As Daniel spoke, tears welled up in his eyes:
"She must be terrified right now, probably hasn't eaten for days, starving to death, you sadistic freaks!"
The researcher, now labeled as both a kidnapper and a sadist: "..."
He rubbed his temples helplessly: "Calm down, young master."
"You should know that you're a member of the Werewolf Race. There's no need to waste your energy on an outsider species."
"Young master, you're the Old Marshal's only son. You should understand that in the face of racial duty, now is not the time for you to play house."
As these words fell, the atmosphere in the room dropped to freezing point.
After a long while, Daniel raised his head and looked at him expressionlessly:
"Don't use my father to pressure me. My father never told me to hurt my friends because of racial prejudice."
"He only taught me that those who betray their benefactors are never good people and will eventually face retribution."
As he spoke, Daniel grabbed the hand on his shoulder and yanked it hard!
The attendant, caught off guard by the sudden force, stumbled forward, causing the chair to tip over as well.
Daniel, quick as lightning, darted out before the chair completely fell, making sure to stomp hard on the guards behind him a few times before leaving.
"She saved me many times, you bastards."
"I'm not an ungrateful wretch like you lot."
"You're all just vermin who only dare to plot behind people's backs. When I kick the Old Wolf King off his throne, you'll be the first ones I deal with."
With those words, Daniel disappeared out the door.
The attendant stood up, rubbing his leg that had nearly broken, and said through gritted teeth:
"This kid's got some strength, and why does he aim for the lower body like that little miss?"
"Damn it, I might be crippled."
The researcher shook his head helplessly: "They're close friends, of course they're cut from the same cloth."
"Let him go. There's no such thing as deep friendship between different races. The young master will understand when he gets older."
"Those not of our kind must be of a different heart."
...
Daniel couldn't care less about what those damn researchers were saying.
His only thought now was to find Chloe, along with Qin Huaibei and Katherine, and get them out of this stupid research institute as soon as possible.
A bunch of extreme racists, idiots, someday they'll be killed by a pig falling from the sky.
Daniel's memory was actually quite good. As long as he wanted to remember something, he could memorize it completely in a very short time.
Although he initially went to the wrong door and ended up in the monitoring room, after seeing the surveillance footage, Daniel roughly confirmed Chloe's location.
The building was tall, the rooms spacious. Daniel searched floor by floor, kicking down who knows how many doors, making a spectacularly noisy entrance.
Surprisingly, not many people came to stop him.
Daniel had a gut feeling that there must be some sort of plot behind this, but he didn't care.
He only wanted to find Chloe now.
Finally, after kicking down countless doors, Daniel found Chloe in a dimly lit room.
This room had no lights, in stark contrast to the bright corridor.
Chloe vaguely saw a figure in the darkness.
Their long-term companionship allowed Daniel to recognize her at a glance - this was his adorable and charming boss, Chloe.
Daniel's eyes immediately welled up with tears as he rushed over:
"Chloe! I found you! How are you feeling? Is there anywhere you're not comfortable? I..."
"Oof!"
Before Daniel could finish his concerned words, Chloe's fist knocked his face sideways.
Daniel: "..."
Case closed, this was definitely Chloe.
Only Chloe would punch him with such satisfying force.
Daniel rubbed his face, crouched down, and gently touched Chloe's shoulder:
"Are you awake, Chloe?"
In her groggy state, Chloe only felt that someone kept calling her name incessantly.
This made Chloe very irritated.
Because she had just managed to beat up those idiotic researchers who were trying to inject her with drugs, and only then could she sleep properly.
But just as she had fallen asleep, another idiot...
Wait, maybe not an idiot?
Chloe's senses gradually spread out, outlining a rough shape of the person in front of her.
In her hazy state, Chloe opened her eyes in confusion. Although it was still pitch black in front of her, she hesitantly called out:
"Daniel?"
Hearing her call his name, Daniel was overjoyed to the point of tears:
"Yes, yes, it's me!"
Daniel tried hard to prop her up:
"Don't worry, I've found you. I'm going to get you out of here right now."
Chloe felt herself being lifted up, and she frowned slightly in discomfort before saying:
"Slow down, I can't see."
As soon as the words left her mouth, Daniel exclaimed in shock:
"Can't see? What do you mean you can't see?"
"Is this their doing too?!"
Daniel fumed, "I'm going to kill them all!"
Chloe tried to calm him down, "It's nothing serious, let's just get out of here first."
Hearing this, Daniel immediately nodded, "Alright."
He then prepared to leave the room with her.
Unfortunately, before they could step out of the room, a figure appeared in Daniel's field of vision.
Rupert, dressed in an immaculate military uniform with a bandage on his face, was leaning casually against the doorframe, observing them with interest:
"We meet again, young master."
"Why are you trying to take our esteemed guest, whom we've gone to great lengths to invite, away from here?"
Rupert tilted his head slightly:
"That's not a very good habit, you know."
