Chapter 1023: Difficulties

After searching for a while, Lu Li accidentally stumbled upon a book in the cracks of the fireplace – Ras Frostwhisper’s Keepsake. The System then notified them that they had completed the quest.
“Ras Frostwhisper’s Keepsake: It holds young master Ras’ real and simple side.”
The description was simple, but it was a usable item.
This was the key to defeating Ras Frostwhisper. With this item, they have a much higher chance of succeeding. However, even with this advantage, the Lich was still incredibly powerful.
Frostwhisper was a very beautiful name, but the skill that it referred to was extremely terrifying.
Frost Whisper was the advanced version of Frost Mage’s Frost Nova.
Frost Whisper: Freeze all enemies in a 30-metre radius. Frozen enemies can explode under absolute coldness. Surrounding units are damaged; movement speed and attack speed are slowed.
Attack speed referred to both auto attacks and skill casting time, as well as skill cooldown time.
Now, they stood before Ras Frostwhisper again. Apparently, Sorrowless had finally sent out another team to do the quest after being wiped twice. There were tens of thousands of players in Glory Capital, yet not a single one of them thought of doing the quest until after they had been wiped twice.
Lu Li wanted to see how they were progressing with finding the Keepsake at Stromgarde.
At first, the group of players that was sent to find the keepsake was ranting at the gaming designers on the forums.
Lu Li approached Ras Frostwhisper carefully and tested his aggro range; the others were standing as far away as possible.
Fortunately, he had done this before in his past life and was skilled at it.
“What is that book,” Ras Frostwhisper murmured.
As he said this, he walked over towards Lu Li, who immediately ran very far away. He turned around as Ras Frostwhisper picked up the small book.
The book returned to its original owner and he began reading it over again.
It wasn’t very thick, so Ras Frostwhisper quickly finished the story.
“It was a tragedy; I feel bad for the people. Maybe death was the best ending to the book. But where do I end?” the Lich pondered.
He must have come to the realization of who he used to be – otherwise, he would be hopeless.
Ras Frostwhisper had become a lot weaker than before. Lu Li patted Azure Sea Breeze on the shoulders and prompted, “What are you looking at? Go.”
Azure Sea Breeze hesitated and wondered if he had wronged Lu Li in any way recently, but but charged towards the boss with his shield anyway.
Lu Li wasn’t messing with him this time because Ras was dealing around a quarter less damage than before and Mu Qiu could keep him at a comfortable HP by himself.
-164!
This was Lu Li’s damage and it was from an auto attack. He was doing almost twice as much damage as before.
-230!
Lonesome Flower sighed. He still wasn’t the No.1 DPS in the party like usual, but at least he was doing more damage than two digits now.
Frostbolt was the most basic Mage skill with a casting time, meaning that it should deal a lot more damage than a Thief skill. However, Ras Frostwhisper still had very strong frost-resistance in spite of his mid-life crisis.
-677!
This was Lu Li’s Enhanced Sinister Strike, which dealt a ridiculous amount of damage. If this was used on a player, it would take out almost a third of their HP.
Since Lu Li had already learned enhanced Sinister Strike, he could learn two more enhanced skills.
While he did not have the most Enhanced skills, he definitely had the most useful skill set for a Thief.
Now that the Tank would survive and the DPS classes were doing enough damage, they just needed a strategy.
Ras Frostwhisper’s main skill was Frostbolt, but this was not like the normal kind. It was a multi-target skill called Frostbolt Volley. Each Frostbolt dealt an insane amount of damage to the squishier classes and each volley sent the team into chaos.
This put a lot of pressure on the healers.
There was nothing Lu Li could do either because Ras Frostwhisper was a challenging Boss for the party. There weren’t any other shortcuts or strategies that would make the fight any easier.
March Rain had many more AOE healing skills, but the most that they covered was five players. As such, there was a lot of pressure on Hachi Chan to cover March Rain. Normally, March Rain was able to cover the entire party while Hachi Chan had an easy job of healing whoever was left out. However, when the Boss fights were difficult, Hachi Chan had to step up her game.
Fortunately, she had been practicing and was no longer an inexperienced newbie.
They were most afraid of a chain attack, which unfortunately hit Sesame Rice Ball Even with his defensive buffs up, he still wasn’t able to stay alive.
“Keep going – don’t stop. Stay alive for as long as you can.”
Lu Li did not order them to stop this time. He knew that Ras Frostwhisper would be a difficult Boss to defeat and he wanted everyone to experience this so that they would have a better chance at the next attempt if they were to fail this time.
“Dodge!” Lu Li yelled as Ras threw a few more Frostbolts towards them.
As everyone was running away, he added, “Eight yards! Make sure to be at least eight yards away from the Frostbolts!”
It was a bit too late as the Frostbolts exploded on the ground where they landed. Unfortunately, two more players were killed – Sakura Memories and Hachi Chan.
The ones who weren’t killed immediately were frozen in place for three seconds.
This was the hardest stage of the Boss fight and around 60% of teams would get stuck on it for a few days. This was only the first stage and only the strongest teams would make it to the second.
Lu Li had attempted Scholomance with other strangers in his past life because he didn’t belong to a guild. There were very few teams that could make it past the first stage and they would call it quits after being wiped multiple times.
It was also because of Scholomance that he began studying and learning how to be a good shot caller in the hopes that he could lead a powerful team one day.
