Chapter 1163: Persuaded

This time, Cold Chill learned not to greet her opponent. When the match began, she immediately began casting a large fireball.

The skill hit the Thief directly and exploded on his body, taking away a considerable amount of HP. Fireball was a lock-on skill, so it would change its trajectory and follow the target around with 100% accuracy.

However, she couldn’t cast a second skill because the Thief quickly appeared beside her.

Instead of attacking immediately, the Thief took an extra step and positioned himself behind Cold Chill, making her lose line of sight and causing her Fireball to disappear in her hands.

She had to continuously turn around to lock onto her target as the Thief ran circles around her while stabbing her relentlessly with his dagger. After a short while, Cold Chill was sent out of the arena, only able to hit her opponent once.

After she was shut down, she decided to keep quiet and never asked to be sent in again.

She sat quietly on the bench with a sad expression. Lu Li knelt down beside her and patted her gently on the shoulders to encourage her.

“Sorry, I’ll give you some equips and organize someone to help you level up. I shouldn’t have sent you out there.” Lu Li knew that it was tough for Cold Chill to accept such a cruel reality, but he had no other choice.

No matter how skilled the master, if the student was talentless then there was nothing much he could do.

Even if he kept helping her, dragged her all the way to Lv50 and gave her a set of good gear, it might still be a struggle for her to find a place in Ruling Sword.

She could not even compare to Lonesome Flower and Sesame Rice Ball. Although these two struggled in PVP, they outshone other members in dungeons. Their positioning, team work and game sense was a lot better than some of the top PVP players in the game.

“I shouldn’t have been so cocky,” Cold Chill sighed as she dropped her head.

“There are millions of players in Dawn. Making money might be hard but it’s not impossible,” Lu Li said. He was trying to guide her into doing something else.

“Do you mean trying a profession?” Cold Chill might have been a newbie, but she was not stupid. Lu Li had mentioned professions more than once to her, but she quickly shook her head and added, “No, I know that if I don’t excel then you won’t gain any popularity or experience rewards.”

“Uh...” Lu Li felt bad because when he first took her on as a student, he did mention that he was only doing this for the popularity and experience rewards.

“I’ll keep trying hard to level up!” Cold Chill exclaimed.

“You really don’t need to.” Lu Li was getting a little frustrated.

“I won’t let you down master! I won’t be cocky anymore.”

Cold Chill was determined to not let Lu Li down because he had been so nice to her so far.

“Stop!” Lu Li interrupted his little student, then continued, “I think it would be better if you levelled up your profession while I get someone to boost you up to Lv30. Once you’re level 30, just concentrate on perfecting your profession.”

“But wouldn’t that be very unfair for the person who’s boosting me?” Cold Chill was worried.

Lu Li was really becoming frustrated now and felt like he was about to cough up blood. He said in a serious tone, “Don’t worry – it’s his job and as long as you craft potions for them, I’m sure they won’t mind.”

After persuading her for a while, he was finally able to convince her.

This felt harder than completing a First Clear in a Nightmare Dungeon.

“But I haven’t learnt Alchemy yet.”

Cold Chill had no confidence in herself anymore. She was bad at PVE, PVP and now she didn’t even have the confidence to learn a profession.

Lu Li couldn’t tell her that she’ll eventually become the best Alchemist in the game and can only persuade her with words of affirmation.

“Professions aren’t too hard to grasp. There are lots of materials in the guild storage so you won’t have to harvest them in the Wild by yourself.”

“Sounds pretty simple,” Cold Chill said.

“As long as you don’t get bored – levelling up a professional is quite mundane and takes a long time.”

Lu Li let out a sigh of relief; he was finally guiding her on the right track.

“Don’t worry, I’m used to it. I’ve had to memorize recipes for different medicine since I was little. I also had to sort out different herbs and plants, which would often take an entire day.” Cold Chill was not worried about this because she just wanted to make some money to repay Lu Li.

“I’ll take you to the exchange hall and let you know what the Alchemy mark is like.”

Lu Li’s mood had changed completely.

When the two arrived at the Exchange Hall, Lu Li opened the market tab and showed Cold Chill a huge list of potions, herbs and medicines. Beginner potions and magic potions were worth a couple of coppers and the price slowly increased with each tier.

The money made from Alchemy was all hard-earned, especially for those without a guild to collect materials for them.

The real profit came from potions that boosted stats or provided buffs. For example, a simple +5 Dexterity potion could be sold for quite a decent amount of profit and recipes like those were monopolized by the top Alchemists in the game.

Lu Li pointed towards the Attack +50% for 2 minutes potion and introduced it, “See this? This can only be made by an Alchemist from East Sea Fleet. It’s very rare on the market.”

“80 gold each for a tiny little potion? My goodness. Why would anyone pay 80 gold for 2 minutes of additional attack?”

Cold Chill did not understand. Eighty gold in real life money was around 5000 to 6000 dollars.

On a busy week, the little clinic that she owned might not even make that much money.

“This potion is an All Stats + 3 potion. There only around five players in the game that can craft it, which is why they’re valued at 50 gold each. All stats + 3 is pretty useless to be honest..” Lu Li sighed.

“Even if I can learn Alchemy, where am I supposed to get these recipes?” Cold Chill asked.

“That’s easy, I have a friend who has a few rare recipes that he can give to you,” Lu Li said with a smile.
