Chapter 1236: Practice Map

After eating, Gale Legion declined the invitation to visit the city.
Jiangnan was nice and the scenery wasn’t too bad, but there were players in game training all the time. If you slacked off, you would be overtaken. As such, there was no one who wanted to see the sights. Instead, they all just went back to the hotel.
What was there to see anyway? Ruling Sword was a new guild, so they didn’t need to visit them to know that they didn’t have much.
But in fact, they had made a mistake. Ruling Sword’s new location was actually better than most of the other clubs. Even though Gale Legion had been developing their club for years, they still paid less than Ruling Sword for their location.
Lu Li had made a lot of money over the past six months. He used some to pay for his sister’s treatment and a down payment on a house, but the rest was invested into the club.
With Water Fairy’s help, Lu Li receive the rights to use a large piece of land for a lower price from the city hall. Moreover, they had constructed everything from scratch.
Under his ambitious vision, he would definitely fully-purchase this land one day and use it to create a lasting empire.
Lu Li had already entrusted Cat Dad with the task of inspecting all the equipment. The money earned from their first professional league tournament would probably go into that. Setting up training camps would be the next step as Ruling Sword would start recruiting students from the public. Each student required at least three years of training before showing any results, and the arduous task was a thankless job.
By the time he logged onto the game, he wasn’t in the mood for levelling anymore, but since there was still some time before the match began, he thought to familiarise himself with the maps.
This time, it was Ruling Sword on home turf, so they were allowed to choose the map. Just like in the quarterfinals, they could choose out of nine maps. These nine maps were released to both teams a few days ago. It was impossible for the players to get practice on all nine maps, so it was advantageous that they could choose.
In addition to levelling and fighting Bosses, Lu Li and the others spent the rest of their time familiarizing themselves with the map.
Meanwhile, Gale Legion were also discussing the maps. They were talking about which one Ruling Sword was likely to pick.
“They will obviously pick the big circular one. What other one would they want?” Flowing Wind asked, saying what most the other players were thinking. Ruling Sword didn’t like choosing tricky maps. In their previous match against Peerless City, they choose the simplest map available – a large circular arena.
This arena had an elliptical shape and there was clearly no cover anywhere other than a few pillars.
“We should still prepare just in case. I have already said – things like this shouldn’t be decided by one person,” Wendelian said, raising her voice.
“If they choose a new map, who would train with them?”
Gaze didn’t quite understand either, but he was on Wendelian’s side. After all, he was a veteran, so he was more cautious.
“Peerless City...”
Ruling Sword’s test opponent would be Peerless City, but they weren’t fighting now. Currently, Drizzle Court and Ruling Sword players were testing all the maps.
“Hey, we’re not competing. Why are you fighting so hard?” Half a Cigarette yelled as he cast Ice Block. Moonlight and Lu Li had joined forces to kill him. Fortunately, he subconsciously acted quickly enough to stay alive.
March Rain clutched her Magic Staff and resisted the urge to engage on him as well.
Because of this, Half a Cigarette’s teammate was able to arrive and both sides went back into a stalemate.
Half a Smoke smiled smugly and said, “You can’t do it like this. Cloudy Leaf has two Ice Blocks, so catching him won’t be the way to defeat Gale Legion.”
It was no secret that Cloudy Leaf had two Ice Blocks. Gale Legion had used this against Peerless City and the ordinary players couldn’t help but feel like it was a cheap trick. Ice Block was already such a strong skill, so it was outrageous that he had two.
March Rain almost rolled her eyes at him.
She wondered when it would be time to reveal her ultimate skill to scare them?
“You have practiced on this map ten times already, so you must have decided to choose this map.” Green Flag Wine was somewhat sympathetic towards Gale Legion. If they hadn’t been training with Lu Li and the others, they would have still thought that Lu Li would only choose the circular arena map.
“That’s about right,” Lu Li said simply. He knew it was impossible to please all of these allies.
“When you win, remember to buy us a drink. There are quite a few of us, so don’t forget to invite us all,” Half a Cigarette laughed.
“Of course I will,” Lu Li naturally agreed. Everyone thought that Ruling Sword would choose the circular arena map because the mighty Ruling Sword only had a few players. This meant that they couldn’t split into two teams to practice on these other maps and therefore had no choice but to pick the circular arena map.
Peerless City, as an ally, had come to help Ruling Sword train.
They had practiced on the hill map ten times and the other maps three or four times. This had used up quite a bit of levelling time for Peerless City. If some other guild had asked for it, the price would be something that Lu Li couldn’t afford.
It was clear that they took the alliance very seriously!
This was the benefit of having allies. Lu Li had strategically done this and given up some of his benefits to Water Fairy, but he didn’t feel like he was suffering.
Lu Li was born into a humble life, but he wasn’t a short-sighted person.
Peerless City didn’t actually have to spend this time with Ruling Sword. All they had to do was accompany Drizzle Court and Ruling Sword. After all, this was the time that other guilds spent desperately levelling.
After Lu Li had finished training, it was time for the start of the match.
As they entered the arena, the huge screen displayed each of them. This was accompanied by a commentary of their achievements to hype up the atmosphere.
What made Gale Legion speechless was that the screen actually showed a clip of Lu Li killing Sorrowless. No one knew how this video was taken, but the audience was shocked and captivated.
There were many players that thought Lu Li’s assassination of Sorrowless was a rumour. After all, how could Sorrowless be killed?
They thought it was definitely a story that Ruling Sword had made up to generate hype. Sorrowless also didn’t appear to clarify this rumour because this was but one of the countless attempts to defame him.
Of course, when Lu Li saw this on the screen, he didn’t feel pride, but rather resentment. He didn’t know how this video was made, but he knew that its sole purpose was to draw more attention.
This assassination was only something he could have pulled off at the beginning. Part of the reason was because his guards were slacking, as they thought Sorrowless couldn’t be assassinated.
However, the main reason was because he was so much lower than him in levels. They were essentially in
different leagues at the time. If Lu Li tried to assassinate Sorrowless now, there would be countless players around to defend him, but even if there was no one, he wasn’t sure if he would win.
