Chapter 1828: Gentlemen Die For Those Who Appreciate Them
During the previous Stronghold battles, Glory Capital’s Hellfire struck fear into the hearts of all clubs who held a Stronghold. Everyone was afraid of being Glory Capital’s next target.
Ruling Sword was now guaranteed to be Glory Capital’s number one target.
Everyone thought that this was a favourable outcome. They all just wanted to see some excitement. It didn’t matter who won between Glory Capital and Ruling Sword. As long as they fought each other, the other clubs wouldn’t need to face either of them as opponents.
Lu Li did not feel regretful in the slightest about angering Glory Capital. They should have seen this coming when they bullied his future wife.
The Grey Valley Stronghold had a forbidden area. Besides a few people from a particular club, no one else could enter or exit from it. This was Ruling Sword’s secret Engineering area.
This area was chaotically messy, with spare parts strewn everywhere. They were all working on a gigantic object. It was around 3 to 4 metres and its bones were as hard as metal. Its form was being constructed gradually.
There was a row of them, standing side by side, with four in total. These monsters were the result of a constant month of work.
This was an artificial Fel Reaver. Although it was small compared to the real thing, it still towered over all players.
“How long until this one is complete?” Lu Li asked.
“Soon. Man, you’re the leader of a club. How are you so free all the time? Can you go do some of your own things? I can’t work with you here.”
Infinite Starry Sky didn’t even look at him and focused on his work, but he had to say something.
He had been working tirelessly every day on this and had already wasted 5 of the 10 tries to make a Fel Reaver from one blueprint.
Ruling Sword had already lost a lot of materials, but Lu Li was not angry. If they were able to make so many Fel Reavers from one blueprint, then the success rate would have exceeded his expectations.
“The Stronghold battles are about to begin. Are you not excited for your product to be displayed in full majesty?” Lu Li asked.
“If you’re uncultured, then don’t try and be a smart ass,” Infinite Starry Sky immediately snapped back. “As for how it performs, it’s none of my business. If the official company wants it to be powerful, then it will be. If not, then it will be weak.”
“...” Lu Li was completely speechless. If everyone thought like he did, then this game would be meaningless.
“Alright. Done. This one is also a success,” Infinite Starry Sky announced as he stood up and lightly tapped his lower back with his hammer. “Next time, I’ll be able to make at least 6 of these from one blueprint.”
“I’m arranging for people to get the blueprint. It will be in my hands soon.”
Lu Li was elated at this news.
One Fel Reaver was worth at least 5 million dollars. Losing one would mean that they had lost 5 million dollars.
Lu Li arranged for people to constantly grind Mo’arg Engineer and had already confirmed that ‘Brutal Razorsaw’ could drop the Fel Reaver blueprint. For the sake of avoiding other clubs catching wind of what they were doing, Lu Li asked Peerless City to grind this Boss for him.
When the time came, it was unlikely for anyone to link the Fel Reaver blueprint to the ‘Brutal Razorsaw’.
Unfortunately, there were no blueprint drops after defeating the Razorsaw twice. Remnant Dream’s lucky hand didn’t help either. This only showed just how low the drop rate was.
There were pros and cons to such rare drop rates. Lu Li didn’t want everyone to have a Fel Reaver during Stronghold battles.
“This is the result of combining a bunch of gold together,” Infinite Starry Sky sighed. If he had a blueprint for himself, he wouldn’t have been able to gather the materials to make ten Fel Reavers. Therefore, it was still highly likely that he would look to work with a mega-club.
“It was fortunate that there were many successes.”
Lu Li also had lingering fears. This was because Ruling Sword’s inventory was completely drained after taking out the materials needed for this.
“It’s easy to use. Someone sits in the cockpit. Throw some Enhancing Stones into the energy drive and activate the machine. Then, it’ll be ready for battle. If the damage suffered doesn’t exceed 70%, then you can use materials to repair it. However, once it exceeds the 70% threshold, then this machine will be considered wasted,” Infinite Starry Sky explained. “Before the battle begins, you will need to practice with it. It’ll be best if you can find someone who retired from the military and has experience with driving a tank in real life.”
“I understand. I’ll make some arrangements.”
“Then let’s talk about the rewards. Five Fel Reavers – it would at least be 500,000 per machine, right?” Infinite Starry Sky was a little frustrated. Although he promised that he would work for free before, he understood that he was at a disadvantage after working on it.
“We have a contract in place,” Lu Li stubbornly replied.
He was talking with Infinite Starry Sky on one hand, and on the other, he was messaging the player who he appointed as Starry Sky’s assistant, asking, “You were here working with him the whole time. If Infinite Starry Sky wasn’t here, would you be able to make me a Fel Reaver?”
Infinite Starry Sky was too unpredictable, so Lu Li had to arrange for his assistant to be Ruling Sword’s own engineers.
“I can, since our levels are pretty much the same. However, it would be hard to say how many I would be able to make. Infinite Starry Sky isn’t stupid either. He’s hidden the real core skills from me,” he responded. “He really is very capable. He must be a master at his craft in real life.”
“What if we just recruited a real-life robotics specialist?”
“That would do it, somewhat. However, there aren’t many people like that who play games. If they didn’t know anything about games, then it would be useless. They would need to know a lot about real life mechanics, but also know about the mechanics in the game.”
The players from Ruling Sword were all convinced by Infinite Starry Sky’s skills. Otherwise, he wouldn’t be talking up Infinite Starry Sky like this. If there was no Infinite Starry Sky, then he would be the number one Engineer in Ruling Sword. After all, no one would willingly want to be working under someone else.
“Then what type of person do you think he is?” Lu Li asked.
“He is someone who is more reality-focused.” The engineer knew what Lu Li meant by this question, and continued to explain, “He isn’t someone who would labour just from the drive of emotions and passion. He works for the sake of benefits. He must have had rich experiences in real life, since he isn’t that young either. However, he isn’t a bad person either. He respects his work and works hard at it. He’s also quite caring.”
“Alright then. 500,000 per machine it is. I’ll send the funds over to you after I get back,” Lu Li immediately said.
Infinite Starry Sky was shocked. He couldn’t even say all of his words that he had practiced in his mind.
He thought that there would be a negotiation process. He had 200,000 as his base price. If he could bump it up to 300,000, then it would be even better. However, from what he understood about Lu Li and had heard about him within Ruling Sword, he was extremely stingy and often didn’t even let teenage girls go. These teenage victims were Hachi Chan and Remnant Dream.
300,000 seemed out of the question for him.
