Chapter 1946: Entering the Story

Defias thugs swarmed the area; anyone would look to retreat.
Edwin VanCleef was the leader of the Defias Thugs. He was once a member of the Stonemasons in Stormwind City. The Defias group slowly grew in power and influence due to the Stormwind administration’s failure to pay the workers salaries, which incited a rebellion among the citizens.
Then, VanCleef was killed, so these thugs disbanded into the different corners of the world.
The Defias Brotherhood played a major role in the disappearance of Varian Wrynn. Under the control of the Black Dragon Princess, Varian was ambushed and kidnapped shortly after leaving Stormwind City.
The Brotherhood took Varian to Menethil, then rode a boat to Dustwallow Marsh and secretly kept Varian on Alcaz Island. The Defias Brotherhood had a hand in each part of the kidnapping. Stormwind City, Menethil, Theramore.
On the island of Alcaz, Defias’ Warlocks used a forbidden spell to split Varian’s spirit and body in two. One half was elegant, gentle and kind, while the other half was ferocious, fierce, and strong.
Onyxia sent out her soldiers to Alcaz and wiped out all of the Warlocks on the island. She planned to kill the more powerful half of the king, then use the other half as a puppet king while she ruled from the shadows.
Then, the more powerful half jumped into the deep sea and disappeared.
Onyxia had already been executed (actually, it was only her projection, so she was bound to appear again), but her plans were still in motion. Besides Onyxia, there were also other people who didn’t want Varian to return to Stormwind City.
The Defias Brotherhood was just a weapon for these people.
Besides wanting their salaries, they also had a desire for government reformation.
They were a bunch of pitiful people. However, Lu Li didn’t have the right to pity them. After all, if he had gone easy, even in the slightest, even Varian and the others would need to admit defeat.
Everyone needed to fight with all they had.
Lu Li and Water Fairy quickly moved towards Varian.
“We’re on the same side. We are here to help,” Lu Li said parried away a Blood Elf thief’s dagger. Valeera Sanguinar suddenly appeared behind Lu Li.
Of course, according to the story of the game, these people weren’t as strong as they were yet.
Valeera Sanguinar was an elite Thief. At her peak, she was able to instantly kill Lu Li with one hit.
“Prove it.”
Valeera was on high alert.
“You guys don’t have anything to suspect us. If we were really your enemies, we would be helping these Defias thugs to kill all of you,” Lu Li reasoned.
With his wife next to him, emotional reasoning was not a possibility.
“You know these people?”
Varian quickly figured out the problem.
“It’s already been so long and you don’t know who caused all this trouble for you?” Lu Li thought to himself.
As he battled, he explained the situation with the Defias Brotherhood. These were actually a group of people who were greatly disadvantaged by the aristocracy. However, the rage of these pitiful people slowly manifested into the Defias Thugs, who also hurt people like them.
“Do you have any ideas on how to defeat these people?” Varian asked.
“No, I don’t. We can only raise our weapons and fight!”
Lu Li actually knew more, but he could not say.
If he mentioned Jaina and revealed the whole truth, the reward would probably be a lot less than what it could be.
They proceeded to fight valiantly against the enemy. They hacked and slashed, while they were also attacked back. This was an impressive and moving sight. They had no business to be here, yet they still unhesitatingly decided to help upon seeing these three people in trouble.
Valeera Sanguinar and Broll Bearmantle quickly treated them as comrades and would support them every now and then.
Varian, with his strong and determined side as the King of Stormwind City, had utmost confidence in Lu Li and Water Fairy. He didn’t lend a hand even when Lu Li and Water Fairy were in danger.
Since there wasn’t a Boss, Lu Li and Water Fairy wouldn’t die as they had the help of many elixirs and potions.
It was because of these potions and elixirs that they were able to survive.
As for the other three NPCs, they were already tired and worn down with injuries. The battle had also worn down their mental fortitude.
Then, without him and Water Fairy, how could these three people defeat the powerful enemies? Even as a reborn player, Lu Li didn’t know anything about the details of this.
At the nest of the Defias Thugs not far from where they were, there were squadrons of hidden Paladins. These were the Paladins from the Night Watchmen. There were already more than 800 of them, and they were all level 70 with Epic items.
Ruling Sword had invested most of their items into the Night Watchmen.
In wild PVP battles, there weren’t many people who could defend against them.
Their mission was simple. Once they received the instruction, they would immediately charge towards the Defias Thugs’ base and burn everything, including their crops, food and their families. This would force the Defias Thugs to retreat.
If Lu Li ordered the knights to charge earlier, the battle would have been over much sooner.
However, there was a reason as to why he delayed the charge. Firstly, it would hide their identities and where they had come from. Secondly, he wanted to make the support from him and Water Fairy seem precious.
Lu Li was waiting for the catalyst that would turn the tides of this battle.
As he waited and could wait no longer, a group of Dwarves suddenly entered the battlefield. Although they were short, they were intimidating and powerful with their hammers raised.
There was a larger Dwarf as their leader, wielding a giant hammer.
There were eight blades on the hammer. He swung it mightily and instantly turned the Defias Thugs into mincemeat. His face was hidden underneath a helmet with a horn.
“Anvilmar!”
“Anvilmar!”
“Anvilmar!”
The Dwarves that were following him were yelling this name. It was as if this brought them power and raised their morale.
“Thargas Anvilmar! Descendant of the King of the Mountains!” Lu Li sighed. He finally understood
why Varian was able to safely enter Ironforge.
The King of the Mountains was Modimus Anvilmar. This was a legendary name in Dwarven history.
There were no clans that did not know this name.
His death had led to the breaking of the Bronzebeard, Wildhammer and Dark Iron Dwarves. This also led to the famous War of the Three Hammers.
Thargas Anvilmar was Modimus’ descendant. If the Dwarves followed along the monarchy that Humans had used, then he would be the King of the Dwarves.
The Defias Thugs were quickly defeated. They appeared like a flood, but also receded just as quickly.
