Chapter 773: Linken’s Carving Blade

This quest was one of the most complicated in Dawn, moreso than Stalvan’s quest that Lu Li had completed.

Fortunately, Lu Li did not plan on completing everything.

His goal was very clear – it was to obtain this carving blade. If he could successfully enhance Linken’s Sabre and exchange for the carving blade, the outcome wouldn’t matter to him.

Even if the quest wasn’t completed, there wouldn’t be any punishments. Lu Li had no pity for Linken, who had lost his memories.

After paying the fees to the transporter, Lu Li was teleported to Everlook, in Winterspring.

This town was the last save point when arriving at the peak of Mount Hyjal. It was really just a street of goblin-owned inns, which were used to demonstrate that they were neutral to any race or power.

Lu Li did not loiter in the town. Instead, he quickly summoned his mount and rushed along, following the road.

The monsters in Winterspring were high-levelled and posed a great danger to Lu Li. Fortunately, the goblins had constructed a fence which followed alongside the road. At the very least, this could fend off the less-ferocious wild monsters.

After riding for a while, Lu Li eventually found Donova Snowden.

She was at the eastern part of Everlook, next to a small, irregularly-shaped lake. In his previous life, Lu Li had jumped into the lake to wash himself while Donova Snowden was not paying attention.

At that time, there was a theory that the water, which could imbue a weapon with certain enhancements, would impart the same to a person who jumped in.

The outcome? Absolutely nothing. To add insult to injury, if a person jumped in, they would also lose health.

"Halt!" a dwarven lady shouted as she ran from a tent at the travel-worn Lu Li.

"I’m Linken’s friend. I was entrusted to bring this sword," Lu Li said as he quickly gathered himself. He did not want to have a conflict with this NPC who was above level 50. Furthermore, Donova Snowden was an important NPC with many quests, so he tried his best to not insult her.

"Why are you only here now?" Donova asked as her facial expression eased a little.

"Linken has lost his memory. He’s currently recovering at Marshal Camp in Un’Goro Crater. He wishes for you to enhance this blade in accordance to the original agreement," Lu Li explained as he transferred the sabre over.

"What? Linken has lost his memory? Oh, what an unfortunate man. Alright, this is his sword, but it’s not complete. I know someone who can make this sword complete. However, it might be difficult to talk to him," Donova Snowden said.

"Linken is my friend; I will try my best," Lu Li promised vehemently.

"Listen, I know someone who can assist you, but you must first acquire the Videre elixir. Gregan Brewspewer can help you with this. His whereabouts are not definite, but I do know that he’s been watching over Feralas."

Gregan Brewspewer could create this type of elixir, but he required one crucial ingredient – Evoroot.

This herb was guarded by Miblon Snartooth, a Gnoll Bos. However, it could instantly kill Lu Li, so his only choice was to outsmart it

When normal players attempted this quest for the first time, they would be at their wits’ end.

However, Lu Li already had previous experience from rebirth and had a strategy. He had already prepared some large chunks of fresh meat in his bag beforehand.

He would throw these near Miblon Snarltooth, and the smell of blood would attract it away. Using this method, Lu Li stealthily dug out the Evoroot.

Gregan Brewspewer then used the Evoroot to create the Videre elixirs.

After returning to Winterspring, Donova Snowden instructed Lu Li to bring the Videre elixir to Tanaris’ Grave.

Videre Elixir was known by players to be a suicide elixir. After consuming it, the player would immediately fall unconscious, but would not lose anything.

Only once he was in a spirit-state would it be possible to find the person that Donova Snowden wanted him to find. Gaeriyan was quite hostile towards Lu Li when he arrived. After all, they would not let him rest, even after he had died. However, he was quite lonely, so when Lu Li told him some of his adventure tales his mood began to lighten. It was only after this that he agreed to repair the sword.

After the sword had been repaired, Lu Li confirmed that he would revive.

Because of the effects of the elixir, he did not lose experience, or experience the side effects of a normal revival. With the sword in his possession, Lu Li returned to Donova Snowden. Even after running around like a dog, this dwarven aunty still complained that Lu Li had been dawdling.

"Excuse me, if I give you some compensation, can you also enhance my weapon?" Lu Li asked carefully while she was busy working on the other weapon.

"Boy, this isn’t something that a few gold coins can buy," she laughed.

"Go ahead and request anything. If I am able to complete it, I will try my best to."

Surprisingly, this NPC looked down on Lu Li, despite him being the number-one player on the level rankings and the leader of a major guild. Tens of thousands of players would willingly fight and die for him.

"The quota for this month has already been filled. Come and try again next month," Donova said as she shook her head.

However, she had not rejected him, which gave him some hope. His equipment was already extremely strong, but who could complain about an upgrade?

After the imbuement of the sword was complete, the appearance of the weapon was greatly changed. The nature and attributes of the sword were also greatly increased, but unfortunately, Lu Li was unable to see its properties. The only things shown were the words ’quest item’.

After returning to Marshal camp at Un’Goro Crater, Lu Li met Linken once again.

"Wow, you’re very tall," he murmured, looking up at the figure that was approaching him, but after seeing that it was Lu Li, he quickly said, "Oh, it’s you. Hurry up and give me my sword."

Unexpectedly, he did not even mention the carving blade.

Lu Li coldly sneered, "Mr. Linken, I quite like your sword. I feel that the carving blade might not be comparable to it."

"No, you damned tall man – that is my property! That is my sword!" Linken shouted desperately.

"I fished it out of the water. As for returning it to you, that was due to my good personality. If I don’t give it to you, it’s because you’re unlucky," Lu Li condescendingly laughed.

"You..." Linken’s face quickly turned red.

"What? Give me the carving blade." Lu Li felt that he needed to further assert himself. He did not plan on completing the rest of this NPC’s quest. It still required Lu Li to help him recover the memories, so he couldn’t complete it, even if he had grinded until tomorrow. Furthermore, nothing good was going to come out of the quest anyway.

From the start, the Linken did not intend for Lu Li to get the carving blade that easily. Sadly, his sabre was now in Lu Li’s possession. He was in the wrong as well, so it would not be wise to cause a conflict. Being a level 45 NPC with no memories or weapon, Lu Li wouldn’t hesitate to kill him if he had dared to initiate a fight.
