This is the first part of this week’s mass release.
Meng Qi looked at the two disciples. She then turned to salute Elder Yan: “Elder, this disciple will leave first. I will come to see you tomorrow.”
“Wait.” Elder Yan glanced at the two disciples: “Did the sect leader tell you why she called Meng Qi?”
He wasn’t doubting the sect leader, but Fentian Palace’s Elder mentioned by these disciples made him a little wary. Meng Qi was a disciple he valued. This girl had a calm temperament and genuinely loved medical skills. Elder Yan hoped that she could reach the higher level of the medical path.
One of the disciples respectfully replied: “People from Fentian Palace were visiting our sect today.” Although the disciples in Qingfeng Valley didn’t want to be a personal disciple of Elder Yan, who was famous for being distant to the sect’s internal affairs and authority, this elder was still one of the only three Golden Core cultivators in their sect. Moreover, his medical cultivation was also the highest in the sect.
“The young master of Fentian Palace was injured and poisoned when saving Junior Sister Lu Qingran. Later, he was cured in Qingfeng Valley.”
Elder Yan nodded slightly. He also knew this.
“However, the poison that harmed their young master came from a fifth-rank devil beast. People from Fentian Palace, led by an elder in the peak of the Nascent Soul stage, wanted to inquire about the details, so the sect leader asked Junior Sister Meng Qi to come to meet them at the great hall.”
The other disciple looked at the expressionless Elder Yan and couldn’t help adding: “Fentian Palace’s Elder is really powerful. He had just arrived today and never met junior sister Meng Qi before. Still, he knows that she is in the library pavilion.” After a pause, he said, “Sure enough, Junior Sister really comes to visit Elder Yan again.”
Elder Yan slowly closed his eyes before opened them again. He stood up and gave the disciple a deep look. This Elder usually never stayed long in the sect premise. When he was here, he would remain in the library, so the disciples had little contact with him. But now, when his cold eyes swept them away, the two disciples buried their heads even lower and didn’t dare to meet his gaze.
“Let’s go.” Elder Yan said to Meng Qi, “I will go with you.”
“Elder, this disciple can cope by herself.”
Elder Yan simply didn’t like to entangle in mundane affairs, but he was not a fool. It was evident that something was wrong from these disciples’ explanations, and even Meng Qi could see it. Over the years, Elder Yan had been traveling to countless places and encountered all kinds of people. How could he, who was very experienced in dealing with innumerable troubles, didn’t perceive?
“Let’s go.” Elder Yan walked first. “Fentian Palace’s elder is visiting in person. As a Qingfeng Valley’s elder, I need to show my face.” His tone when speaking to Meng Qi was much kinder.
In fact, Elder Yan did not seem to be very old. Her hair was still dark, and his face had no wrinkles. When he stood tall, even in a simple blue robe, it was hard to hide his sage-like aura.
“Yes.” Meng Qi was grateful. She died once and thus became more touched by others’ kindness.
She followed Elder Yan. This elder, who made a great vow to heal all the patients in the world, was a bit limp when walking. Meng Qi hurriedly walked forward to support his arm.
This was the wound Elder Yan got on his previous trip. He went to save the people in a small town injured by a poisonous monster beast. At that time, time was running out, so Elder Yan had no choice but to transfer the poison from the patients into his own body, then pushed it under his knees to not hinder his movement when healing other patients.
But the monster beast was powerful, and the poisonous aura was staying for too long in Elder Yan’s body. Later, although he managed to force it out, some poison still left. Meng Qi had browsed through many records, only to find that this matter couldn’t be hurried, and could only wait slowly for the poison to be dissipated. Elder Yan was now in the sixth realm of the Golden Core stage. When he broke through into the next realm, the residual poison would be dissipated naturally.
The two disciples were following from far behind. Elder Yan’s pace wasn’t fast, but they didn’t dare to urge him.
“What poison?” Elder Yan asked on the way.
“A poison from fifth-rank devil beast, but fourth-rank devil beast can also use it. Fentian Palace’s young master is a Golden Core cultivator, so this disciple can use the fourth realm Qingfeng spell to detoxify him.” Meng Qi had nothing to hide from this elder who took good care of herself.
The two disciples following from behind couldn’t help but gasp in shock. They instantly looked at each other in doubt.
Qingfeng spell?!
Fourth realm?!
Did they mishear her?!
They entered the sect three or four years earlier than Meng Qi, but their Qingfeng spell was still in the second realm. Everyone knew that the higher the realm, the harder it was to breakthrough. What’s more, it was only a low-level, first-grade spell. Why should they bother to improve it?
“Good.” Elder Yan nodded. It was unknown whether he praised Meng Qi for curing Chu Tianfeng, or for her idea of using Qingfeng spell.
“Did you get injured?” Elder Yan asked again. At the same time, he raised his hand, sweeping a light across Meng Qi’s body. “Very good.” He nodded. The warmth in his eyes got deeper.
“It’s good for a medical cultivator to heal other people, but you should not forget to protect yourself.”
“Yes.” Meng Qi couldn’t help but smile slightly. Elder Yan, who lectured her like this, was still suffering from the poison he got because of his determination to heal others without caring for his own safety. But Meng Qi said nothing. There were three thousand cultivation paths, and among them, medical cultivation has never been very popular. But probably because of the existence of seniors like Elder Yan, Meng Qi never regretted her choice to embark on this path.
Actually, she knew. Elder Yan was a Golden Core cultivator. Even if his walks were limped, he didn’t need her help. After forming their core, a cultivator was able to control the magic tools that enable them to fly. This residual poison couldn’t hinder his movement at all. He just wanted to ask about the situation, all out of his care for her.
