Chapter 285 - Not A Good Night

Chapter 285: Not A Good Night

While Su Wan and Jiang Xuecheng were immersed in tenderness, the sky had been turned upside down outside.

Although Gu Zihang had come out to refute the rumor, Jiang Xuecheng and Su Wan were still avoiding the media. For netizens who liked to say things without basis, gossiping would be most interesting.

All sorts of discussions and speculations had been extended from the virtual world to the real world. Even Luo Xiuxiu, an old lady who didn’t like to read the newspaper or browse Weibo, knew about it.

Luo Xiuxiu had no other hobbies besides playing mahjong. Every night, she would spare some time to play with her friends. Today, she was asked by Mrs. Wang who sat opposite her.

“Sigh, did your granddaughter-in-law really go out with another?”

After all, it was a scandal and she dared not asked too directly. So, she could only use a phrase like ‘go out with another’ very vaguely.

As soon as this was said, the other two friends looked at Luo Xiuxiu too. They too looked as if they wanted to say something but dared not say much.

They had thought something big had happened to Jiang Xuecheng and Su Wan and that Luo Xiuxiu would be absent today!

However, they saw her glowing, ruddy cheeks as well as her natural and graceful look, as if nothing had happened.

Now that Mrs. Wang had asked her this, how could they not be curious?

Upon hearing this, Luo Xiuxiu was at a loss. She was a straightforward person and couldn’t stand others beating around the bush.

“What happened to my granddaughter-in-law? What do you mean she’s going out with another?”

Aiya, don’t you know after so long?”

Mrs. Wang widened her eyes and then quickly took out her mobile phone to open a web page.

“Here, take a look yourself!”

Luo Xiuxiu put on her reading glasses and after she read the content, her smile slacked and her face became grave.

How could this happen? Was this news real?

The three people around her saw Luo Xiuxiu’s gloomy face and dared not say too much. They didn’t know that Luo Xiuxiu had been kept in the dark.

“Is this news real?” When Mrs. Wang saw Luo Xiuxiu’s frown and gloomy face, she couldn’t help asking.

Hearing Mrs. Wang’s question, Luo Xiuxiu exuded a kind of domineering aura.

“My granddaughter-in-law is not that kind of person!”

It was a firm sentence that shocked and silenced everyone around.

After Luo Xiuxiu denied, she hastily took her handbag and rushed back to the old mansion.

Although Luo Xiuxiu had not spent much time with Su Wan, no matter how she looked at this girl, she was a lovable girl with a gentle conduct, so how could she commit adultery?

Most importantly, to Luo Xiuxiu, there was no better man than her grandson.

If Su Wan had really done that, Luo Xiuxiu would doubt her taste!

The more Luo Xiuxiu thought about it, the more anxious she became. She took two steps at a time and hurried all the way back to the Jiang family’s old mansion.

The minute she pushed open the door, she saw Xu Ziyao reading a book on the sofa with Sheng An’ning accompanying her by the side, making tea.

When Luo Xiuxiu saw both of them in a calm state, there was a burst of anger in her heart. She didn’t usually surf the Internet but it didn’t mean Xu Ziyao and Sheng An’ning didn’t!

How could they hide such nonsense from her?

Luo Xiuxiu raised her brows and her wrinkled face was furious. She pointed at Xu Ziyao and just as she was about to ask, Xu Ziyao darted a glance at her calmly and with a voice as calm as water, she greeted her, “Mother, you’re back. An’ning, please make tea.”

Sheng An’ning answered softly and then passed a cup of Longjing green tea to Luo Xiuxiu smilingly.

“Grandmother, why are you so angry? Have you lost in your mahjong game?”

Looking at Luo Xiuxiu’s sullen look, Sheng An’ning, of course, knew why but because of the pressure from Jiang Xuecheng and Xu Ziyao, she dared not talk about Su Wan though she didn’t mind responding to Luo Xiuxiu indirectly.

A grudge was something very subtle. Once held, it would be difficult to erase.

Luo Xiuxiu suddenly put down her tea cup and looked steadily at Xu Ziyao, who was reading a book on the sofa.

“Both of you know what’s on the news today, don’t you? Is it real or not? This child, Wan, makes me worried. Why does she not know how to avoid suspicion...?”

“If it were real, would we sit here so calmly? Mother, don’t speak or act on hearsay. Do have a cup of tea first.”

In Xu Ziyao’s hand was a book. She lowered her head slightly and took a sip of tea. The rising steam from the tea reflected her beautiful face. Her noble temperament was almost ethereal.

Xu Ziyao was old enough to be Sheng An’ning’s mother but when both of them sat together, they looked like sisters.

Hearing what Xu Ziyao said, Luo Xiuxiu’s anxious heart calmed down a little. However, the thought of it gave her goosebumps.

“Ziyao, have you called Xuecheng to ask? How does he see this matter? Will he...”

Luo Xiuxiu was afraid Jiang Xuecheng would not be able to take the fact that his wife had gone to Anzhi Tinglan Hotel with another man.

Xu Ziyao nodded and replied softly, “I’ve called him. Don’t worry. Xuecheng is not a weak person. If you do not trust his eye for people, you should at least trust his personal charm, shouldn’t you?”

Xu Ziyao briefly stated that she had made the phone call but in reality, she did not ask Jiang Xuecheng about the news today.

Xu Ziyao’s voice was melodious and there was a kind of power to calm people’s mind unknowingly. Luo Xiuxiu let out a soft sigh and was no longer as anxious as she had been just a while ago.

After some thoughts, Luo Xiuxiu took out her phone and called Jiang Xuecheng.

When she called, Jiang Xuecheng and Su Wan were together. Both of them were about to do something and the call killed the mood.

When Jiang Xuecheng saw the caller ID, he frowned. He knew without thinking why Luo Xiuxiu was calling him at this hour.

Su Wan tidied her clothes and pulled herself a distance away from Jiang Xuecheng as she said smilingly, “Go ahead and answer the call.”

What was sure to be gained was lost just like that. Jiang Xuecheng didn’t know if he should sigh or cry. He darted a sideways glance at Su Wan and finally answered the call.

“Grandmother.”

Jiang Xuecheng’s voice was neither warm nor cold but compared to his attitude toward Xu Ziyao, Jiang Xuecheng was much closer to Luo Xiuxiu.

“Xuecheng, how are you and Wan recently? I’ve seen the news on the Internet. I’m worried about both of you. I can’t sleep with all these storms...”

Jiang Xuecheng answered faintly, “Grandmother, Su Wan and I are fine. It’s late and you’d better get some rest.”

“Then, have you found the person who spread the rumor?”

“Don’t worry, I know what I’m doing and I’ll take care of it. I won’t disturb your rest. I’ll end the call now.”

After he spoke, he ended the call.

Su Wan saw his irritable look and was about to say something when Jiang Xuecheng’s phone rang again.

Was it another call from Luo Xiuxiu?

Jiang Xuecheng frowned. He saw Ah Si’s name on the screen and his eyes deepened.

It looked like Ah Si had some news...
