Su Wan knew Jiang Xuecheng was consoling her but she could not feel consoled. Rather, she felt defeated. Marriage is a huge thing; how could it only be a matter between the two of them?

Many have said that to marry a man is equivalent to marrying his family.

If the Jiang family didn’t like her, she would still make blind and disorderly conjectures no matter how good her mindset was. She would also be worried it would have negative effects toward their marriage.

Su Wan felt her head aching. So, she knitted her brows and tried to pacify her restless emotions.

Jiang Xuecheng saw that Su Wan was still entertaining all sorts of ideas and he couldn’t help but shake his head. Then, he stopped his car.

Su Wan was taken aback by the sudden stopping of the car. “Ah, have we arrived?”

When she looked around, she noticed that the surrounding was a commercial street. Just when Su Wan was stunned, Jiang Xuecheng seized her hand tightly.

Su Wan turned her head, puzzled, but saw Jiang Xuecheng’s serious face. That pair of deep and bottomless eyes were fixed on her.

“Why?”

Su Wan’s long eyelashes were trembling slightly and was nervous being watched by Jiang Xuecheng.

“Wan Wan, you must trust me. I’ll treat you well all my life.”

Jiang Xuecheng stared at Su Wan and his calm and magnetic voice was heard. Every word of his that reached her ears were firm.

“Even if they don’t like you, it’s their problem. I like you and that’s enough. Nobody can stop me from doing what I want to do.”

Su Wan was terrified looking into his eyes which were as deep as a cold abyss. Subconsciously, she nodded and when she came around, she began to relax.

She had Jiang Xuecheng by her side, what else did she have to be afraid of?

This man had always given her a baffling sense of security.

When Jiang Xuecheng saw Su Wan’s uneasiness subsiding, his long and narrow eyes lit up and he started the engine once again.

After about a little more than ten minutes, Jiang Xuecheng drove into a high-end villa area. This residential area had the best security in S City.

Unlike Fontainebleau and Cloud Shadow Villa which were crowded by rich businessmen, families staying here were families with authority and power. Those who were rich but had no authority and power were not qualified to stay here.

Jiang Xuecheng skillfully parked his car in the garage and then held Su Wan’s hand as they walked towards the Jiang family’s old house.

The Jiang family gate was wide open, probably because they knew the newlywed couple were coming. From far, they could see several servants standing by the two sides of the gate.

Wow, such a huge lineup!

Su Wan had never experienced being welcomed by people lining the streets. When she saw this lineup, she became nervous. She held on to Jiang Xuecheng’s hand tightly.

The sudden strength put forth by Su Wan made Jiang Xuecheng dart her a glance. Sensing her restraint, he smiled faintly and uttered near her ears, “Don’t be afraid.”

Su Wan tilted her head slightly and saw Jiang Xuecheng’s calm and relaxed look. She slowly calmed down.

When both of them marched into the gate, the servants by both sides unanimously welcomed them as if they had been trained.

“Young Master, Young Madam, welcome home!”

Jiang Xuecheng nodded his head slowly and the servants lining up took a few steps backwards. The sight of the Jiang family’s mansion behind them welcomed Su Wan.

Su Wan leaned against Jiang Xuecheng’s arm and raised her head to examine the mansion. This mansion seemed to have existed for quite some time but had been renovated. It didn’t look old but rather had the essence of beauty.

Before the two of them had gone far, a familiar figure walked out of the house first, followed by another person whom Su Wan didn’t know. She only knew the person who walked in front, as she was Jiang Xuecheng’s grandmother, Luo Xiuxiu.

Although Luo Xiuxiu was old, she was still agile. She walked pretty fast, leaving the person behind her a distance away. She waved smilingly at Su Wan and Jiang Xuecheng.

“Xuecheng, Wan, both of you are finally here. I’ve been waiting anxiously.”

Su Wan returned a smile bashfully and greeted her. “Hello, Grandmother.”

Feeling satisfied, Luo Xiuxiu nodded her head and glanced at Su Wan from head to toe. She was more and more satisfied with this granddaughter-in-law of hers. She had both good looks and personality.

She had investigated and gotten to know that Su Wan was once engaged to that boy from Gu Group. Luckily, he was blind and had taken fancy to another person, or she wouldn’t have such a good granddaughter-in-law.

Jiang Xuecheng had not had a girlfriend all these years and his secretaries were all male. He had even been suspected of an abnormal sex orientation.

Luo Xiuxiu had been really worried about her grandson’s marriage. She had even lowered her standards and could accept any woman as long as it was a woman. She was afraid her grandson would elope with another man and grow old alone. The situation now had given her a surprise.

Luo Xiuxiu had a pair of sharp eyes. Very quickly, she caught sight of the wedding rings on Su Wan and Jiang Xuecheng’s fingers. She praised, “This pair of wedding rings are beautiful and they match perfectly! Who selected these?”

Su Wan glanced at Jiang Xuecheng. Redness appeared on her pretty face and she murmured, “These were personally designed by Xuecheng.”

Luo Xiuxiu widened her eyes and was speechless. Then, she looked at Jiang Xuecheng, “Good grandson, how did I not know that you know how to design jewellery? Can you design for me too?”

Just then, a thick baritone was heard from behind. He said mockingly, “You’re so old now and still want to wear a wedding ring like the young? Aren’t you embarrassed?”

Su Wan turned and saw the man talking was an old man wearing a black outer coat and dark grey trousers. From his voice, no one could guess he was this old.

Secretly, Su Wan thought in her heart that he must be Jiang Zhiyuan, the leader who was once in control of Jiuzhou Country.

He was thin and tall with thick eyebrows. His face had marks of the twists and turns of life. His eyes were as sharp as arrows following his many years at the military and his walking manner was forceful with some hidden mighty power.

Jiang Xuecheng darted a look at Su Wan and spoke in a low voice.

“Wan Wan, this is grandfather.”

Su Wan and Jiang Xuecheng exchanged looks and she nodded slightly toward Jiang Zhiyuan.

“Hello, Grandfather. I’m Su Wan.”

With both hands clasped behind his back, Jiang Zhiyuan examined Su Wan with narrowed eyes for a long time. Then, he asked, “You’re the girl my grandson has taken a fancy to?”

Su Wan nodded bashfully and answered softly, “Yes.”

When the atmosphere shifted, Luo Xiuxiu shot Jiang Zhiyuan a look and waved toward Su Wan and Jiang Xuecheng.

“Alright. Let’s not interrogate the lady at the gate. Let’s go inside first. The food is getting cold.”
