Chapter 1452 The game is afoot
Lex stepped out of the ship and onto a scene from a scifi movie! The Welcome Village in the Azure Field Asteroid Belt was, obviously, built on a particularly large asteroid piece. However, instead of looking grey and desolate, as one would expect from an asteroid, there were countless highrises, floating mini-islands all around, thousands of small ships flying around, and an overall vibrant cityscape.
The azure field all around made the surrounding void look like a beautiful blue sky, and there were even birds flying around in the void to make it seem much more normal than one would expect. Upon closer view, Lex realized that the birds were actually pterodactyls! Their beautiful and colorful plume made it so that they looked nothing like they had been depicted in movies from Earth. Then again, none of the Earthen movies had considered that T-rex's were feathery magicians either.
Lex would have taken a deep breath to get some of that fresh morning air just based on how visually refreshing everything looked, except there was no air. They were in a vacuum. Or, well, close enough to a vacuum. There was the occasional gust of some highly toxic wind that blew by, but the gases stayed close together and did not disperse, essentially just serving as a nice, eternal breeze that could not actually be breathed in!
Of course, the lack of atmosphere could not actually stop Lex from breathing. His lungs now essentially just functioned as another way for him to absorb energy from his surroundings. He could literally breathe in the surrounding spiritual energy, not requiring any air at all! If he entered his soul state, the energy he breathed in would automatically be turned into a specific kind of energy that nurtured souls, and if he used Mindmeld, turning into thought, he could still breathe in energy which would nurture his spirit!
This was a deviation from the typical biology of a traditional human Earth Immortal, whose lungs served as a way to regulate their internal energy. Who could say what caused Lex's deviation?
Was it his physique? Maybe it was the Dao level ingredient, or his cultivation technique that allowed him to become much stronger than anyone else on his level. Perhaps it was the odd fusion of his soul and spirit with his body. It could also be the Lotus he was bonded to, who essentially gave his body the feedback of an entire newborn realm.
In short, the lack of air, the occasional toxic fumes, and the heavy radiation in the surrounding atmosphere all just made Lex feel like he was in a relaxing sauna.
In comparison, Gerard had perfect control of all energy around him, even without using his bloodline. If he used his bloodline, and his suit as the equipment through which he channeled energy - something his suit had been specifically tailored to allow - then it was basically impossible to be hurt from the environment, regardless of the kind of environment he was in.
It would literally take some kind of natural disaster with a force greater than what Gerard could control to even have a chance of hurting him.
Velma, who could be considered the weakest of the three, did not bother being pedantic. How could she be hurt when she was wearing a suit specifically tailored for her by Geeves? Her suit had greater protective capabilities than most actual armor! Each and every individual thread in her suit was refined from the strongest ores and minerals that were available to Geeves, with her actual suit costing well over 13 million MP!
Keep in mind, this was just one of her suits, and not even a particularly expensive one. As someone with hundreds of thousands of admirers trying to court her, including but not limited to Devil princes, Elven heirs, and handsome CEOs of multi-galaxy companies, even with her rejecting any and all gifts, she still inadvertently ended up with a fortune.
It was not an exaggeration to say that after Lex, she was the richest Inn member. Many dragons would be jealous of her wealth.
Of course, even if she didn't allow her incredible suit to protect her, she was in the process of creating a unique technique of her own. Even if it was incomplete, it was more than enough to protect her from the radiation in this area.
"Welcome, guests, to the Azure Field Asteroid Belt," spoke a Prism Whale, hovering in space in front of them. "My name is Haribo, and I will be your guide of the village."
Compared to Little Blue, who had a large body and majestic wings sprouting from its back, this whale was a lot smaller despite having a higher cultivation realm, and had horns sticking out of its head in the shape of a crown.
It was wearing a daoist robe which had been tied firmly with a belt, so that the sides do not hang open below the whale when it flies around.
"Thank you, Haribo," said Lex in an appreciative tone. "I did not expect to be greeted by a Prism Whale such as yourself. We are honored."
As stewards for the Artica race, the Prism Whales had a very high status in the Artica realm. This was basically the same as a Vice President of a country coming to welcome guests who entered a country. It was not unheard of, but the identity of the guest had to be somewhat special.
"One of the reasons we Prism Whales are held in such high regard is our extrasensory ability," Haribo said with pride. "Although I will not pry into the identities of our guests, I could sense from the very moment you selected this place as your destination that all three of you are quite special - not to mention the immense Positive Karma that you carry. The Artica race holds in high regard those who practice righteousness and have high moral standards. A special tour has been arranged for you, and if you are willing, an invitation to the Azure Baptism Palace, where a youth of the Artica race is residing."
Lex exchanged glances with Gerard and Velma, neither of whom were averse to the idea of meeting the Artica race.
"I accept," said Lex, hiding perfectly the sudden change that took place in his mind!
