Chapter 230 - Still Willing?

Jennifer's eyes narrowed slightly when the words entered her ears.

For her, this was hard to digest and almost as difficult to accept. "The engagement is not held till yet. There are still two days left.."

"The preparations are already going on. Javier has given his words too. What should I know now? These two days are a mere formality, Jennifer." Emily was too confident in her speech.

As her eyes shined in glory, no one can deny that her body language and heart were entirely convinced that nothing can interrupt this engagement.

Why!? From where does she get so much power?

At this thought, Jennifer's face swelled immediately.

Till certain limits, Javier wasn't even talking with her on other terms... How was she supposed to interfere in this marriage?

"Emily…" Jennifer called her name with her coldest tone, gaining her attention towards herself, "Remember that force can make you marry the other party but… overcoming and overshadowing the power of love is hard."

As if her words didn't make any sense to her, Emily was still persistent in marrying Javier no matter what.

Jennifer can note the same just merely from her expression of hers.

As if her words were like thin air who didn't care about love or other stuff, "My love is enough to sustain a relationship. I will be the first wife of Javier and the mistress of this house.. no worries, let us see how you cope up with this after I'm Mrs. Johnson, Legally!"

At this comment, Jennifer's hand turned into a fist. She doesn't know from where was her anger raging up but this way, this was sure that if she stays there anymore, a punch will surely land on Emily's face.

Because of creating any scene here, Jennifer better knows her place hers. Fortunately, Mr. Dakota appeared out of nowhere when he laid his on his daughter. "Emily,? please come here.."

"Sure dad.." Emily never tore her gaze from Jennifer's face which was carrying the mocking smirk.

It infuriated Jennifer a lot but she knew that words will not make any magic.

'Looks like I will need to do something to stop this..' yet no perfect plan appeared in her mind too. As Emily left the place, she was left alone in the corridor with her heavy heart.

A cold mist of line was produced in her eyes which showed her displeasure with everything that took place.

At this time, her eyes moved towards the flowers which were on the sidewall. Not thinking about anything else in the world, her legs moved near them on their own.

Touching the fresh flowers she can sense that they were perfectly matching the color combination of the party's preparations that was going to happen. But her grip tightened when she realized that this engagement wasn't with her but someone else..

'Hah! Javier.. you better come back home tonight..' staring at the flowers she pulled the entire trail of the flowers which were present from the upper walls.

Her eyes were automatically turned bloodshot with no one to help her calm.

"Let us see how this engagement and marriage take place.."

The day passed by as usual with no one entertaining her anymore. Staying in the room, Jennifer didn't even step out for a meal.

Rather she stayed in her room all the time, alone. Because of her absence downstairs, the butler brought her food in her room itself.

It was at least a relief to know that they aren't denying her food. But the words of hers started to consume her when her eyes trailed towards the clock that hang on the wall. 'It is already twelve in the night and he isn't even back till yet..'

She doesn't know why but it made her stomach feel some unknown feelings and sensations crept towards her heart.

All the possibilities were in her brain, be it worse for her to imagine anything right now.

Hugging her legs near her face, she waited for his arrival till it was night. 'He said that he will come back as soon as possible but he isn't here till yet…don't tell me that he went to meet Emily? His bride?'

Her thoughts run wild but somehow she managed to let that negative thought she'd have in her own brain. 'He won't.. at least when he promised me that he will show his face..'

He has kept all his promises till now, as he said.

He won't betray her trust when she's already on the verge of breaking down emotionally?

Just when she was immersed in the thousands of thoughts and minds running wild, the light of the entire villa went off.

Similarly, her room was filled with darkness, with the amount of light coming just from outside, through the moon.

"What the hell has happened now.." subconsciously, she stood on her toes when the noise of the door opening entered her ears. "Who is that?"

"It's ok. Don't worry, the lights will come back. There are some faults in the lane.." Javier's voice was enough to make her heartbeat go down a little bit.

Only she knew how hard it was to understand the entire scene herself. "Thank god.. you're back."

"Hmm. I got a bit late because of my work." His reply was somewhat not satisfying which made Jennifer frown.

Biting her lips she walked close to his body, although his face wasn't visible or clearly visible under the moonlight. "Let me help you with your coat.."

"Jennifer." Just when she was going to open his buttons, he held her hand in the middle of almost and her breath stopped at this point.

'What happened to him? Is he not willing to let me do that?' Her saliva present in her mouth went dry, only she knew that amount of uneasiness that spread in her heart.

"Wh..what happened..now?"

She had no idea why her words came out as stumbled ones. Her heart wasn't able to digest when her face started to lose its color with time.

Yet his husky voice was enough to give her goosebumps all over her back. "I have something to ask you."

"Yeah.. ask then…" only if he knew how much courage she held inside her body to let him say.

Why were the bad instincts, almost showing her that it won't be good either way?

"Are.. you still willing to marry me?"
