Chapter 1398

Sophia sat at the edge of the bed. Her eyes welled up with tears as she looked at Theo, who was resting. “Theo, how are you feeling? Does it hurt?” She asked with

concem.

Theo didn’t respond. He didn’t even open his eyes.

Bertha looked at the man on the bed with her brow furrowed. She didn’t disturb him. Instead, she turned to Collin. “You’re Mr. Blanchet’s assistant, right? I’m really sorry about this whole mess. My husband has a terrible temper. When he gets mad, it’s like he becomes a bull. Don’t worry; we’ll make sure to take full responsibility for Theo’s injuries. We’ll get the best doctors and the best medication to make sure he’s back on his feet.”

Collin looked at Bertha. She seemed kind, but he had lost all respect for the Thaddeus family. “Mr. Blanchet isn’t lacking in medical resources. I hope Mr. Thaddeus will keep his promise.”

Bertha nodded. “Rest assured, if he promised Mr. Blanchet something, he will definitely do it.”

Collin responded politely, “I hope so.”

Sophia, still at the bedside, looked at Theo with teary eyes.

“Theo, why are you so stubborn? If only you weren’t so obstinate in front of my father, none of this would have happened.”

Theo didn’t react. He just kept his eyes closed, trying to keep his breathing steady.

Collin walked over and said, “Ms. Sophia, Mr. Blanchet needs to rest. If you don’t have any business here, please leave and don’t disturb him.”

“No, I can’t leave! I need to be here to look after Theo. Sophia shook her head, refusing to leave.

Collin frowned. “Ms. Sophia, please calm down. You’re disturbing Mr. Blanchet.”

Seeing this, Bertha gently tugged at Sophia. “Sophia, you can’t help Mr. Blanchet by staying here. Let him rest. You can come back later.”

Sophia looked worried, but after some thought, she agreed with her stepmother. Theo was seriously injured and must have been in pain. He needed to rest..

After hesitating for a moment, she stood up. “Theo, get some rest. I’ll come back and check on you later.”

As she turned to leave, Theo opened his eyes and said coldly, “Get your documents ready. We’re settling our matter first thing tomorrow.”

Sophia stopped. She looked shocked and surprised. “Theo, you’re badly injured, and you’re still thinking about that? Can’t it wait?”

“No, it can’t. If you’re not cooperative by tomorrow morning, our past friendship will no longer matter.”

After seeing how determined he was, Sophia stayed quiet for a moment before eventually giving in. “Alright, I promise you. I’ll go with you tomorrow to process the annulment. You should rest now; recovery is the most important thing.”

Theo didn’t say anything more. He closed his eyes as his face went pale but emotionless.

After leaving the guest room, Bertha looked at Sophia’s upset face and couldn’t help but feel sympathetic towards her stepdaughter.

As a woman, how could she not understand the feeling of unrequited love for a man she had been infatuated with for years.
