Chapter 2473

Regret had its moments, but who could spend their life clinging to those regrets?

“If you really cared about me so much, why didn’t you just smother your daughter when she was born?”

Clara’s face contorted with rage, like a demon clawing its way out of hell, her hands gripping Tessa’s

shoulders, shaking her relentlessly. “Huh? Why didn’t you just end her? If you hadn’t brought her into

this world, there wouldn’t be an Ivy to torment me now. Do you even understand how much pain I’m in?

Everything I had has been ruined by your daughter!”

Tessa let out a scream. “Clara, what has gotten into you?”.

The truth was that Tessa had not considered terminating her pregnancy with Ivy because she had been

convinced Ivy was going to be a boy.

Having a son would have cemented her place in the Dunhill family, but fate had other plans.

“Your wretched daughter competes with me for everything. I hate you, and I’ll never call a wretch like

you ‘mom’!”

Tessa stood frozen in place, her struggle ceasing. Hearing Clara’s true thoughts left her feeling

betrayed. She never imagined that all her years of sacrifice would amount to nothing.

She was so shocked that she couldn’t tell if Clara’s hatred was directed at her or her daughter.

At that moment, Finn, who had been casually strolling back home, witnessed the scene and rushed

over to pry Clara’s hands off.

“Clara, what are you doing? Are you out of your mind? She’s your mother!”

Clara’s eyes were bloodshot with fury. “You’re the ones who are out of your minds! She’s not my

mother! You force me to call her ‘mom’, yet her daughter has stolen everything from me! Ah!”

Clara released her grip, stumbling backward and collapsing to the floor. Having not eaten for days, she

was utterly drained, her outburst having been nothing but a facade.

Tessa, too, slumped weakly onto the couch.

“I should never have cared for you,” Tessa murmured to herself, a lament unheard by anyone but her.

Finn, seeing his eldest daughter in such a state of madness, was naturally at his wits’ end.

“Clara, come to your senses. You’re no match for Ivy, so stop provoking her. Why do you have to be so

stubborn?”

Clara finally broke down and threw herself into her father’s arms, crying loudly.

“Daddy, what should I do? My whole life is ruined. I have nothing left! Ivy, she… she’s destroyed me,

waah…”

Finn was heartbroken seeing his daughter in such distress, oblivious to the fact that Tessa had

collapsed on the couch and something was seriously wrong.

Tessa never thought her life would come to this.

After marrying Finn, she had enjoyed some good times, but everything changed after Ivy was born.

Expecting a boy to complete the family picture alongside Clara, they were shocked to have another

daughter.

From that moment, Tessa felt her mother-in-law’s disapproving gaze at every turn, her visits to the

family home marred by constant criticism.

Tessa blamed it all on her daughter, which only intensified her disdain for her.
