Chapter 2497

Ivy set her bowl down. She actually wanted to give a serious answer this time.

“Truth is, no one can really be sure who they’re gonna walk hand in hand with forever.”

Balfour pricked up his ears quietly, listening intently to Ivy's words.

Hearing her say that wasn’t a shock to him. For Ivy, emotional reliance was always shaky ground.

She never felt that sense of security from her biological parents; if she couldn't count on them, what more from Balfour, whom she had only known from a stranger to a lover?

He wasn’t hurt, just felt the need to give Ivy more love, and to help her slowly build that feeling of safety.

“Mr. Howard, do you feel the same way?” asked Olivia, genuinely surprised. She thought that lovebirds like Balfour and Ivy wouldn't say such melancholic things.

“| don’t believe in forever, but | do know that | want to walk with her, the longer the better.” Their eyes met, and Ivy blinked, “You're not mad at me, are you?”

“What's there to be mad about?”

They understood each other without words. Ivy knew he got her, and that was enough.

“| just want you to be happy.”

Why worry about foThere was no need to think so far ahead. They just needed to hold hands and make the most of each step now.

Mara, seizing the moment when they were distracted, sneaked into Balfour and Ivy’s bedroom. Balfour was a fan of minimalism. In the Howard Mansion, his room was a stark mix of black, white, and gray.

But the master bedroom was nothing like that. Every little detail was carefully decorated with charming trinkets, and even the bed sheets were lvy’s favorite shade of pink.

Not to mention the photos of Ivy scattered all around the room. “How do you deserve all this?” Mara stepped forward and picked up a photo from the center of the desk. It was a selfie Balfour had begrudgingly taken with Ivy.

Although reluctant at the time, Balfour had grown especially fond of that photo. Because the moment the shot was taken, Ivy had gently kissed his cheek.

Now, that photo was the treasured one tucked away in Balfour's wallet.

Balfour usually didn’t carry a wallet, just a sleek black card. But ever since that photo found its home, he took his wallet everywhere.

Once, he even “accidentally” dropped it in front of a colleague. The wallet fell open, revealing the photo of him and Ivy. “Oh, | dropped my wallet.”

With those words, Balfour slowly bent down to pick it up.

Quinton, standing nearby, witnessed the whole ordeal and couldn't help but find it absurd. There was no need to be so stiff even if Balfour wanted to flaunt his love life!

By that afternoon, the tale of the CEO's wallet with Ivy’s picture had spread throughout the entire Howard Group building. Before, they were skeptical about their CEO marrying an actress. Now, it was clear the boss was truly smitten.

Mara caressed the frame, unintentionally covering Ivy's face with her fingers.

“Eventually, I'll make you mine,” she murmured, tracing Balfour’s image.

After a while, she finally set the frame down, pulling something out from her bag and slyly slipped it under Ivy's pillow.
