114 A Solo Dance
Jing Yan’s eyes darkened. He took a step closer and lowered his head to look at He Miao. “If you don’t want me to be your brother, what do you want me to be?”
He Miao lowered her head and thought about it seriously, leaving only the top of her fluffy hair for Jing Yan to see.
Jing Yan did not plan to let her go so easily. He held her hand gently and said in a pampering voice, “Why don’t you let me be your boyfriend?”
“Not good.” He Miao refused without even thinking.
Jing Yan’s face darkened immediately. “Why?”
“I don’t need a boyfriend. I just want to earn money.” The little girl counted with her fingers and said seriously, “Without money, Miaomiao can’t live in a big house and can’t make perfumes. Ingredients are very expensive. Miaomiao can’t afford them.”
Jing Yan had thought she would say something like she did not like him, but it turned out to be because she lacked money.
He could not help but laugh and shake his head. “I’m very rich. If you become my girlfriend, all my money will be yours, okay?”
This time, He Miao started to think carefully.
Jing Yan held his breath and waited for her answer. If she agreed to his request tonight, he might be able to persuade her with the same words when she woke up.
His heart was beating like a drum, which was very sudden in the quiet night.
Jing Yan looked at her expectantly, but He Miao shook her head after thinking about it carefully. “No, I can earn my own money. I can’t rely on my boyfriend!”
“Alright,” he said. Jing Yan hid the disappointment in his eyes, held her hand, and asked tentatively, “Do you need me to send you home?”
He Miao was just about to nod in agreement when a loud cheer suddenly erupted from the villa behind, followed by a soothing and elegant dance music.
Jing Yan’s heart stirred. He took He Miao’s hand and let her rest on his shoulder while he put his arm around her slender waist. He said with a smile, “Do you want to dance with me? Miss He Miao.”
“Alright.” He Miao leaned into his embrace, leaning against his chest, and swayed gently to his rhythm.
In the garden in front of the villa, the street lights shone warmly through the green canopy held up by the branches, shining on a man and a woman who were hugging and dancing.
Li Ming looked at the two people dancing outside the window. His face, which always had a bright smile on it, was now full of jealousy.
In the alley, Zhou Zhu looked at the figures hugging under the tree through the window. The thick smoke in the car almost swallowed him.
He stubbed out the cigarette, got out of the car emotionally, and barged into the world of the two.
Jing Yan looked coldly at the man who had suddenly appeared and pulled He Miao behind him to protect him. “I remember you’re Mu Xiao’s cousin.”
“It’s me. I didn’t expect Brother Yan to still remember me.” Zhou Zhu walked forward frivolously. Seeing He Miao’s timid gaze, he smiled. “Miaomiao, how about dancing with me?”
The music in the villa was still as soothing as before, but the atmosphere outside had become tense.
Jing Yan blocked the delirious He Miao behind him and narrowed his eyes dangerously. “You want to dance with her? Are you even worthy?”
“Brother Yan, don’t forget that you’ve already broken off your engagement with her. If I’m not worthy, then you’re even more so.” Zhou Zhu met his glare fearlessly, sticking out her chest and not giving in an inch.
He was as regretful as he had felt when Jing Yan got rid of He Miao.
He had never thought that he would fall in love with a woman who he had personally forced to break off the engagement with. However, since he had already fallen in love, he could only suffer the consequences of his own actions and work hard to make up for his mistakes.
He would never allow anyone to covet his He Miao.
Jing Yan looked up at him indifferently and said in a calm tone, “Even if we cancel our engagement, she will still be mine.”
He turned around and looked at He Miao tenderly. “Tell me, do you want to be with me or him?”
The grip on his hand tightened slightly, and He Miao groaned in grievance, begging for mercy, “If he’s with you, Miaomiao doesn’t want him.”
Only then did Jing Yan relax his grip. He put an arm around He Miao’s shoulder and looked at Zhou Zhu smugly. “You heard that? You can get lost now.”
Zhou Zhu’s eyes were filled with heartache as he looked at He Miao, who was pouting and acting coquettishly with Jing Yan.
The goddess had always been cold and noble in front of him, and she had never shown such a womanly expression. He thought that the goddess was like this, but he did not expect that the other side of her that he had been thinking about was only for Jing Yan.
