Chapter 1636 Controversial Proposal

Chapter 1636  Controversial Proposal

Prince Rafia had a very distinct demeanor. It was cold and detached. Her eyes lacked warmth, and her body language was devoid of consideration. "Raise your heads," She commanded.

Even her tone was monotonic and devoid of any grace or measured cadence.

"Distinguished guests, welcome to the convention held by the Rafia Consortium," She began unceremoniously, speaking clinically. "Today's agendas, as you all have been informed, have to do with a new scheme that the Rafia Consortium will be implementing in regard to the new system of patronage of our esteemed members to the Rafia Foundation. The presentation will begin immediately, and your seats have already been prepared."

Immediately, an array of luxurious seating arrangements across the wide and spacious hall appeared out of nowhere, much to Rui's surprise. Whatever esoteric technology was being employed was extraordinarily exclusive and rare.

A large board appeared behind her as the guests took their seats across the convention hall hosting the business convention.

The large title head at the top of the board immediately drew everybody's reaction.

[Patronage Tiering System]

Below it was a large intricate maze of layers and sub-headers with several points below each of them, with many arrows that stretched across the entire board.

"Without further ado," She unceremoniously began, uncaring for any more formalities. "Allow me to expound on the new system that we have implemented within the Rafia Consortium for members and prospective members. It is an all-encompassing system that accounts for any and all forms and degrees of patronage; it also clarifies the application of any and all patronage and offers freedom of application of how you wish for your patronage to be allocated…"

Rui raised an eyebrow as he carefully scanned the intricate system that she had devised that essentially gave everybody a map of everything they would possibly need to know when it came to becoming a patron of the Rafia Campaign through the consortium and the benefits within the consortium that it would yield.

Tiers, brackets, and incentive structures were all neatly laid out on a single intricate flowchart.

Essentially, this saved her the need to personally lobby and speak to every single member to convey the benefits of supporting her; it saved everybody a lot of time and effort. It also told Rui more about the kind of person that the princess was. The other two prime candidates for the ruler of Kandrian had taken the opportunity to convey the incentives personally in an attempt to build a personal rapport with him. Princess Rafia, on the other hand, pursued efficiency and effectiveness. She cleanly conveyed every ounce of information that any one of them could possibly need through an intricate flowchart, all in order to avoid having to speak one-on-one to personally lobby each one of them. It was a clinical decision that didn't care to factor in the emotional persuasiveness of taking the time and effort to personally speak to each patron and prospective patron.

It was the kind of thought process that an AI would conceive if asked to convey information in the most objectively efficient and least time-consuming manner possible.

Rui got chills just looking at her. She was extremely beautiful, yet her expression had not so much as twitched since she had arrived. It was blank as her mouth kept moving as she explained her intricate patronage scheme.

She unceremoniously went over the entire scheme with the same emotion as a text-to-speech voice would, adding helpful snippets of information that weren't part of the presented flowchart.

"…And that is an overview of the structure of the patronage scheme," She explained blankly. "A copy of the flowchart you see before you has already been supplied to each of you, please refer to it for additional details. You may consult me if you wish for any further clarification that is not included in the flow chart."

She turned towards the audience. "I will now commence private consultation of patrons and prospective patrons for offers that are outside of the aforementioned patronage scheme. The executives of my staff and administration can and will help you out with any and all details regarding the scheme."

A series of men and women began engaging the guests. Princess Rafia, however, turned towards Rui.

"Senior Rui Quarrier, please come with me. I wish to speak to you about an important matter privately," She remarked without a hint of commanding assertiveness. Her words once more drew the attention of the various guests who were engaged with her staff as the convention hall grew silent.

Rui Quarrier was the first person at the top of Princess Rafia's list of people to privately consult out of all the distinguished individuals invited to the business convention.

That was an unexpected development for many.

She simply stared at him with a blank expression that may as well have been frozen in time, waiting for his response. Rui, on the other hand, groaned inwardly at being placed in the spotlight yet again.

"I would be honored, Your Highness," Rui got up, bowing, before following her to one the door at the end of the convention hall, ignoring the many stares fixated on him.

"It may behoove you to dispense with such gestures, Senior Quarrier," she remarked when they were out of everybody else's earshot, referring to his bow. "This is a business convention and thus merely semi-formal at most. Such polities are not observed in business gatherings such as this one."

"I wasn't aware of that, Your Highness," Rui replied courteously. "I shall bear that in mind."

Her assistant opened the door to the office that they found themselves in. "Please have a seat," the princess gestured before taking her own. "I am not fond of small talk; thus, I hope you do not take offense at my tendency to avoid them. I have but one proposition to make to you."

She stared into his eyes without even the tiniest shred of emotion as she uttered the following words.

"Please marry me, Rui Quarrier."
