Chapter 188: unexpected encounter

"I saw someone like that head for the exit just a few moments ago." Someone pointed out.

['Too late, Xander, would you like to take us away?'] Al asked.

['With pleasure.'] Xander replied.

-Switch!

-Zznn

Immediately streaks of lightning surrounded Xander.

-Whoosh!!

He flashed away and into the forest. Seconds after Xander had left, the guards of the Bull's Coven came out and saw nothing but the veil of the night and the twinkling of stars.

"There's no one here," A guard there stated the obvious…

Speeding through the forest, Xander made sure that he left no footprints on the ground. Only his toes made contact with the floor.

['Hahaha, it feels good to assassinate and flee the scene.'] Al mentioned happily.

['Killing is what we are used to.'] Xander stated with a smile on his face. He too felt happy that they had completed the assassination.

['All that's left now is Duna and Vincent.'] Alex thought.

"Don't worry, we'll get them too," Xander uttered to comfort Alex.

['Yeah, don't worry about it rabbit, all we need to think about now is how we are going to celebrate this.'] Al wondered.

['How about I cook something?'] Lex offered.

['That's right, you told me that you love to cook, although I don't remember me ever doing something like that. I would like to see how good of a cook you are.'] Alex mentioned.

['I'm not that good of a cook, but I would love to cook for you.'] Lex stated meekly.

"Straight to the guest inn," Xander muttered.

"System, return my face to normal." He commanded and the system did that in no time.

After running for a few minutes, Xander noticed that something wrong. His instincts were telling him that he was being followed, but who, where and since when? That he couldn't tell.

['I think someone has been watching and tailing me.'] He informed the rest.

['Increase your speed and run for the inn, once we're there we will be untouchable.'] Alex said.

-Zzznn!!

-Boom!!

Xander was just about to do as Alex suggested when his lightning hit something.

Something was heading towards him but his lightning shielded him and struck the object down.

['I was just attacked.'] He said and his body began vibrating.

['Who the hell is after us? We left the coven safely, who caught up with Xander so quickly?'] Al wondered.

['Is it a staff or a nirvana realm cultivator?'] Alex thought.

['It can't be anyone from the Bull's Coven, Xander already discarded the bald look and now we are back to normal, how can they tie us to the bald person that they saw in the Bull's Coven?'] Lex pointed out.

-Whoosh!

His leg touched the ground and shot off faster than he had been moving. In his wake, he left craters of his footprint on the ground.

Just seconds after Xander increased speed, something unexpected happened.

A figure appeared in front of him.

-Thud!!!

Xander wasn't quick enough to avoid the figure completely. He hit his shoulder on the side of the figure and tripped.

-Bam!

-Bam!!

-Bam!!!

Xander flew faster than a bullet and crashed, he fell many trees down. He also dislocated his shoulder.

['What the f*ck was that?'] Al exclaimed.

['I dislocated my left shoulder,'] Xander said as he tried to get up. He felt the pain coming from the dislocated shoulder but he paid it no reaction.

['I can't tell where that came out of. The person that did this is way stronger than us.'] He added.

"Who's there?!" He got up and placed his right hand on his left shoulder.

He got no reply.

-Crrckk!!

He popped his shoulder back into position and activated his lightning ability once again.

-Whoosh!!

He shot off and this time he was more alert than before.

-Thud!!

Xander felt someone push him from behind. He flew again and crashed into many trees.

"Argh!" He landed on the ground head first. His head started to bleed.

"This is starting to piss me off," Xander muttered.

He got up and said; "If you are going to attack me, at least come out and show me who you are. You are stronger and yet you are hiding from me."

Xander had no expression on his face, even with the blood on his face that had colored one of his eyes red and was dropping from his face to the floor.

He waited and no one came out or said anything. "If you are not going to come out then I will force you to come out," Xander uttered calmly.

He sounded like he was capable of doing such, but the person wasn't affected by this threat of his.

Suddenly Xander's eyes changed and were covered by rose gold lightning.

He began charging himself with the lightning. The clouds in the sky started to gather and rose gold lightning coursed through them.

-Crrk – Boom!!

Thunder, struck and the sound echoed.

Xander was about to use the same AOE attack that he used back in the capital city. This abnormal phenomenon did not go unnoticed to many in the academy.

The dark clouds began to glow rose gold and brightened the night sky. Xander looked up and started to levitate.

['The clouds didn't glow the last he did this.'] Alex pointed out.

['It's probably because our cultivation increased. If you recall, the color of his lightning was pink when we were still in the origin realm and after we broke through to the nascent realm it changed to rose gold.'] Al explained.

-Zznnn!!!

['This is going to destroy a lot of the forest.'] Lex said.

['I wouldn't be doing this much if we weren't attacked by someone that I can't even see.'] Xander responded.

His attack was almost ready as he continued to float higher into the sky.

Right before Xander released this attack, he was attacked in the air.

-Boommm!!!

The lightning that had been gathering in the clouds exploded and created a huge circle of electricity in the sky. The circle of electricity sent streaks of lightning to random parts of the academy, causing a huge commotion.

-Thud!!

Xander crashed on the ground, far away from where he was about to make his wide range attack.

He felt someone grabbing on to the collar of his shirt and raising him up.

['I don't have any energy left to do anything, Lex, you are best suited for a situation like this. You switch with me.'] Xander suggested.

['Alright.']josei

-Switch.

Lex and Xander switched.

"Arghh!!!" Immediately Lex felt like he had been drained of every QI he had left in his core and his mind was assaulted by the pain from the crash that Xander had.

He looked at the person that had grabbed him by his collar. It was someone that he didn't expect.

It was Hinata.

Lex started to blush, despite his position now. He closed his eyes and turned his head away.

"What the hell are you getting at kid? Do you think the storm of lightning you were about to summon would have done much to me? I just didn't want any other staff there that's why I attacked you before you completed the summoning. Now they would have reached that area and are probably searching for the summoner." Hinata disclosed.

Lex was still blushing and refused to look at her. They were too close and that was way too much for normal Lex to handle.

Hinata shook him. "Look at me kid, I saw your face morph. Now I know that you are not a shapeshifter and that you are probably using some kind of treasure to achieve that, and it is with the help of that treasure that you are able to find other treasures. Give me that treasure and I will let you leave here alive." Hinata threatened.

Despite her threat, Lex still didn't look at her.

"Look at me you piece of sh*t!! Where did all that smug, confidence that you had earlier go to?" She shook him violently again.

['Seems like she was the one that started the rumor that we could find treasures.'] Al concluded.

['No sh*t!'] Alex uttered.

['Lex, use the blade that Al coated with poison,'] Xander advised.

"Were you the one?" Lex asked meekly.

"The one that what!?" Hinata was confused.

"Hehehe!!!" Lex began laughing. "If it's the skin crawler that you want then let me give it to you." The crazy side of Lex took over.

'Huh? Did I shake him too much that he lost his mind?' Hinata thought. Either way, she was happy that Lex was going to give her his treasure easily.

Lex slowly brought the hand that didn't have his storage ring on, to his face while he had a crazed smile on.

This smile of his, made Hinata feel weird.

-Ting!

Lex brought out the knife from the ring and quickly Slashed at Hinata's neck.

Although Hinata was not expecting it, she was able to block his attack. After all, she was stronger than Lex, by a wide margin.

She used one of her hands to hit the wrist of the hand that was holding the knife.

-Thud.

The hit was strong enough to make Lex let go of the blade. The blade flew up and Hinata glared at Lex.

"You have a death wish." She released her aura and brought Lex closer to her face. The leaves around them were pushed away by Hinata's aura.

The trees started to incline and the branches on some broke apart.

What surprised her was the fact that Lex wasn't troubled by her aura and also the way he was still smiling like he had the upper hand.

-Vnn!

The knife up in the air entered a spatial hole and appeared beside Hinata. This she wasn't expecting at all.

The tip of the blade pierced through her skin and was heading for her heart when she caught the blade.

"Ahh!" She exclaimed.

She caught the blade of the knife and it was so sharp that it sliced off 4 of her fingers.

-Ding!

The blade fell to the ground…
