The Moon Thief

Chapter 116

Chapter 116: Moving Deep into the Volcano

Even though the Three Headed Inferno Crocodile in front of Heinald was completely frozen, he could feel the energy waves emanating from it. This meant that it had not yet been defeated.

The Fire Element Energy emanating from this crocodile suddenly peaked and the ice surrounding it shattered. When the ice broke up, chunks of ice spread out.

Heinald retreated to a safe distance and began observing the Three Headed Inferno Crocodile. Although he could still feel the energy waves emanating from it, these energy waves were greatly weakened.

The energy waves emanating from it had almost halved in strength. This was a pretty big decrease.

Heinald thought it was mostly because of the Icysoul Potion he used. The power of the energy waves it emitted was directly related to its spirit.

Since the Icysoul Potion had damaged it, the energy waves he emitted had greatly decreased.

Another thing he noticed was that it was starting to flake off. Not all of its scales were flaked off, but dozens of flakes started to drop from various parts of its body.

"Is it because its spirit was damaged?" Heinald's brows furrowed.

If only that was a possibility. The powers of Magical Beasts came from their spirits. The damage to this crocodile's spirit might have affected its physical defense.

*Rarrghh* Three Headed Inferno Crocodile roared furiously and started running towards Heinald. When it started running with all its might, flames started to rise from the places where it stepped.

Heinald immediately used his Whisper of the Wind spell again and moved away from it. His goal was to gain some time, because as time passed, the scales on the crocodile were flaking off, leaving it more vulnerable.

"Frost Wave!" Heinald shouted out.

As he glided through the air, a cold aura surrounded his body and exploded outward. The freezing air waves spread around and caused the ground to be covered with a layer of ice over a large area.

*Rarghhh* Three Headed Inferno Crocodile let out a painful cry. After its scales began to fall, its skin was exposed, and the freezing waves instantly turned part of its skin into ice.

When Heinald landed, he pushed the ground and started to move towards the crocodile with quite high acceleration.

He stabbed his sword into its frozen skin with all his might, as he came near it. The frozen skin of the crocodile could not stand the blade for a second.

His entire sword was pierced into the skin of the Three Headed Inferno Crocodile.

When Heinald drew his sword back, his black blood began to flow.

The Three Headed Inferno Crocodile had fallen to the ground and was beginning to squirm.

As Heinald thought about making one last move and killing it, an idea came to him at the last moment. He immediately created the Spirit Imprisonment Formation and began the process of taking out the spirit of the dying crocodile.

The red beams of light coming out of the formation surrounded it and began to penetrate into its body. Soon, the crocodile had completely stopped moving, and a red pearl began to rise from its body.

Heinald grabbed this red pearl and guided it to his ring, which contained a Phoenix Spirit. He heard the cry of the phoenix in his mind, and in that instant, it turned into flying dust grains and was drawn into the ring.

The Fire Element Energy felt from the ring had increased tenfold in an instant. A layer of fire aura had appeared around this ring, surrounding it.

"As I predicted! The phoenix spirit inside this ring can consume anything containing fire element energy! It certainly won't reject a spirit based on Fire element energy, especially." Heinald nodded slightly as he stared at the ring.

He immediately stored all the crocodile's blood in jade jars and collected all its scales. Moreover, he also removed its heart, but the intense fire element energy contained in its heart was also exploited by the ring containing the phoenix spirit.

"I would love to discover the secrets behind this ring! I will spend some more time deep within this volcano and look for Magical Beasts with a Fire Element predisposition." Heinald nodded decisively.

All these processes took him hours, as the Three Headed Inferno Crocodile's body was so hard and durable. This crocodile was a Level 2 Magical Beast, and his blood and scales were invaluable.

"I can now activate Hamra's Protective Type Magical Treasure!" Heinald was excited.

Heinald created a formation he learned from Hamra and created an energy link between the crocodile blood in the jade jar and the pocket watch.

Half an hour passed.

Heinald destroyed the formation and glanced at his pocket watch. He could feel a mixed aura of blood and fire emanating from it.

He had obtained about 10 jars of blood from the dead body of the Three Headed Inferno Crocodile. A jar of blood was enough to fill half the energy of this pocket watch.

Not wanting to linger for another half hour, Heinald decided to fill half of its energy. He thought that this amount of energy would be enough for him for now.

As Heinald sent the Magic Energy to his pocket watch, he felt hundreds of needles instantly prick his brain. But he didn't mind it because he was so excited.

In a part of his mind, he could sense the presence of a Protective Type Magical Treasure that now belonged to him.

With his only thought, a pale red layer surrounded him, then disappeared with his only thought.

"Finally! I'll call this treasure 'Blood Nightmare Shield' from now on!" Heinald grinned happily.

After Heinald hung this pocket watch around his neck, he hid it under his jacket under his robe and left there.

Heinald headed for one of the surrounding tunnels and started walking through it. When he reached the end of the tunnel, he found himself in a place where only burning cliffs and thin lava veins were flowing.

To the right of this place there was another tunnel entrance. He carefully headed towards this entrance. After entering that tunnel and walking for a while, he felt the temperature rise compared to other places.josei

When he reached the end of the tunnel, he found himself in a place with a hot lava flow in the middle.

*Tnrrk!* Heinald shuddered at a strange sound and turned in the direction the sound had come from. When he returned there, he saw a hedgehog about twice of his size.

However, this hedgehog's spines were like iron that had been soaked in fire for years. They were a completely fiery red color and radiated an incredibly intense heat.

"It seems that his defense is much lower than the Three Headed Inferno Crocodile, but its attacks will be much more dangerous than its. The energy waves that this hedgehog emits are very close to mine, this hedgehog's spirit looks a little weaker than the crocodile's spirit."

Heinald was frowning, observing the hedgehog. When he realized the situation, he immediately waved his arm and Narox appeared in his hand.

To be frank, he had no knowledge of this hedgehog species. He did not know the types and methods of its attacks. So he had to be very careful.

Hedgehog suddenly began to spin around quickly. A vortex of fire began to form around it. This vortex of fire radiated an intense heat wave to the surrounding area.

"So hot!" Heinald was forced to retreat immediately. Despite having the body of a Level 2 Ainsar and the durable Ainsar robe that his grandfather had given him, he still felt as he was burning.

He felt quite constrained in a way. Fire type spells were his favorite spell type, but using them in this region would be pointless because all Magical Beasts here were naturally immune to fire.

"I have to finish this job fast!" Heinald grit his teeth. Since this hedgehog's defense was not very strong, he wanted to finish it off in one attack.

Heinald send Magical Energy at the Narox in his hand and swung it. From the sword covered with the winds, a wind stripe was rushed and began to fly towards the vortex of fire.

Meanwhile, he started casting his magic called Indignation of Ice. After two seconds, a frozen hand wrapped in ice fume bursted out from his arms.

The wind stripe he sent before him had destroyed the balance of the fire vortex. Taking advantage of this, the frozen hand had crossed the fire vortex and directly struck the hedgehog.

When the frozen hand hit the hedgehog, there was an explosion of Ice Energy, and ice fume engulfed the entire place. Loud crackling sounds were heard all around.

A fierce burst of elemental energy also appeared when the hedgehog's spines, which looked like hot iron, suddenly collided with the freezing cold.
