1242 Showdown! 1
Mu Yuchen smiled when he received the grateful glances from Ruan Heng. He nodded before turning towards Xi Xiaye. “Get the doctor over to take a look at him.”
Su Nan took a deep breath and cleaned up the mess on her face. “Look at me. I totally forgot about it! I’ll get the doctor to come right now!” She quickly pressed a button beside the bed.
Mu Yuchen and Xi Xiaye went closer to Ruan Heng’s bed.
“How are you feeling?” Mu Yuchen greeted Ruan Heng who was still on the bed.
Ruan Heng straightened up and replied weakly, “I’m fine. I just can’t really muster up strength at the moment, but thank you so much for your help during this period of time. I didn’t expect I’d be in a coma for so long...”
“As long as you wake up, take your time to recover. Don’t worry about troubling us. It’s no big deal. I’m afraid that Nan Nan might have broken down sooner if you were still in a coma,” Xi Xiaye spoke as she looked at Su Nan who was drowning in happiness and excitement at the moment.
Wiht a nod, Ruan Heng looked at Su Nan and gave her an apologetic grin. “I’m sorry, Nan Nan...”
“It’s all good that you’ve woken up. You’d be disappointing everyone if you were still unconscious even after Xiaye and Chairman Mu came to visit you. Everyone has been a part of the journey. Fortunately, you’ve finally woken up,” Su Nan grabbed Ruan Heng’s hand and said.
Ruan Heng sensed that Su Nan had changed compared to before. She seemed to have been tamed, and there was a quiet, gentle strength radiating from within her...
The doctor arrived before he could truly savor this moment.
Professor Harry came over personally to Ruan Heng’s room. He smiled and greeted Mu Yuchen the moment he entered the room. Then, he quickly performed a checkup for Ruan Heng. The results were satisfactory for everyone.
“His bodily functions are normal. He’s just a little weak now due to a long period of inactivity. Take note of his nutrient intake and exercise more often. I believe he’ll recover very soon,” Professor Harry said.
“When can he be discharged?” Mu Yuchen asked.
“It’s recommended to stay for a few more days for observation, but I’ve been following Mr. Ruan’s condition, and his wife has been taking good care of him. I’ll do a full body checkup on him tomorrow, and I can discharge him if all’s good. I would suggest he do a checkup every month for at least half a year. He can only be considered fully recovered after that,” Professor Harry explained.
Su Nan and Xi Xiaye were delighted. They traded glances at each other as they were brimming with excitement.
“That’s great! Xiaye, this is really great! Ruan Heng, did you hear that? The doctor says you can leave tomorrow! We can finally go home!” Su Nan shook Xi Xiaye’s arm as she said.
Xi Xiaye smiled. “Let’s go out somewhere then. There are some nice spots nearby, and it’ll be good exercise for him. Professor Harry, is it alright if we visit the grasslands nearby?”
“Of course, but take note that he can’t over-exhaust himself right now,” Professor Harry replied. He gave several other pointers before leaving the room. Mu Yuchen followed him out to find out more about Ruan Heng’s condition.
The room turned quiet again with just Xi Xiaye, Su Nan, and Ruan Heng in the room.
“Ruan Heng, Su Nan has gone through a hard time for your sake. You should really think about how to make it up to her. Mu Yuchen planned to bring me around anyway. It’s been a long time since we last traveled together. We should travel together before heading back to City Z,” Xi Xiaye suggested.
Su Nan was startled for a moment, and she gave Ruan Heng an indecisive glance.
Ruan Heng then asked, “Won’t we be bothering you and Chairman Mu?”
Xi Xiaye smiled. “Of course not. He’s nice enough. You guys just haven’t spent enough time with him. Since the two of you are my best friends, I hope for all of you to get closer.”
“Alright then, we’ll take up on your offer.”
“Mmm, I’ll get him to arrange something.”
...
Ruan Heng waking up was great news, and he was mostly recovered after two days of rest.
Mu Yuchen arranged for them to stay in the hotel they were staying at after Ruan Heng was discharged, so it was easier to contact them.
On the third day, the group went to the western grasslands.
Mu Yuchen drove while Xi Xiaye sat on the front passenger seat. The two of them took turns to drive while Ruan Heng and Su Nan sat in the back, relaxing. Fast-paced music was being played from the player in the car, and they chatted along the way.
It was mostly Xi Xiaye and the two passengers in the back talking. Mr. Mu just played the role of a quiet, responsible driver who would give a brief reply once in a while. Overall, the atmosphere during the trip was harmonious.
The west felt huge. They were just in time for the most beautiful moments in America as the beautiful, extensive grasslands were on display. The cool autumn temperature was also comfortable for traveling. Xi Xiaye felt like they were here just at the right time.
After five hours of driving into the deeper grasslands, they passed a lively little town and went on for another half an hour before a large path of tranquil, beautiful blue appeared before their eyes!
Su Nan instantly screamed the moment she saw the little villa bathed under the golden sun, “Xiaye! Xiaye! Look! How beautiful! Look, there’s an upside-down view of the scenery over the lake! That’s a church there. Oh, gosh, Chairman Mu, how did you find this place? It’s so beautiful!”
