Chapter 2154

After reaching the village, Laelia explained, “Thousands of years ago, my family’s forbearers lived in this village.”

James nodded lightly and said, “Mhm. The island appears ordinary at first glance, but there were many unusual things along the way. It’s evidently a place left behind by a very powerful person. However, did he really leave behind his legacy here?”

Laelia shook her head and said, “I’m not sure about that. According to my family’s oral tradition, he left behind an inheritance for the younger generations of our family to attract them to the island. We’re allowed to search the island to see if we can find the boons he left us. as adults. However, none of our family members have found it even after allt his time.”

“Is that so?”

James questioned her, “This is your family’s ancestral land. Your family’s forebearers have lived on this island and should know where to look for the boons, right?.”

Laelia nodded slightly and said, “My family’s ancestral land is rather ordinary and looks just like every other island. The only thing special is the grotto behind the village.”

“Oh? There’s a grotto?”

Laelia’s statement caught James’ attention. He asked, “What kind of grotto is it?”

Laelia explained, “It’s a bottomless grotto. Since ancient times, our family members would go to the grotto to try their luck in finding the inheritance when they come of age. However, they’ve always returned empty-handed.”

James asked, “Then, what’s so special about it?”

Laelia explained, “Our family has passed down by word of mouth that a magical power will appear in the grotto every once in a while. A light will appear along with the magical power. However, the phenomenon would disappear after my family members entered the grotto.”

Laelia briefly talked aboutthe grotto behind the village.

In short, it was a place full of magic, mysteries, and unknown secrets.

Many myths about this place were spread amongst the Targywn family. It was said that their ancestor had also left behind an unrivaled signature martial art skill. In a person’s hands, it would allow their strength to improve by many fold.

It had been rumored that there was a great fortune hidden within the grotto.

Countless myths about the grotto had been passed through the generation.

“Let’s go inside the village, James.”

Laelia led James into the village.

There were many simple buildings inside the village. However, they were worn out, and it was evident no one had lived in them for a long time.

Soon, an old man approached them.

The old man had a slightly hunched back. He wore a gray robe and walked with a cane. Beside

him was a girl about 17 to 18years old.

“Sir Sylvester.”

Laelia walked over to him and greeted him respectfully.

She looked in James’ direction and explained, “This is our family’s elder that has been guarding the ancestral land. His name is Sylvester Targwyn. Father told me that Sir Sylvester has been guarding this place for a thousand years.”

Sylvester looked at Laelia, and a smile formed on his wrinkled face. “Laelia.”

Laelia pulled James over and introduced, “Sir Sylvester, this is James. He’s our family’s savior. Recently, our family underwent a crisis and he rescued us from doom. Had he not come, our family would’ve been wiped out. To repay James for his life-saving grace, my father has asked me to bring him around our ancestral land to see if he’s able to attain anything of value for himself.”

Hearing this, Sylvester looked at James with a strange expression.

The strange look disappeared in the next second.

With a smile on his wrinkled face, he said, “I see.”

Laelia suddenly recalled something and asked, “By the way, Sir Sylvester. With the recent appearance of the seal, our family’s heirloom has projected some visions. Is our family’s jade pendant connected to the seal?”
