Chapter 328 - Prisoner Of War! - Part 4
"How can they be so powerful?" Stunned by sight before him, the vice commander who did not take part in the charge and remained behind muttered under his breath.
Even though the enemy cavalrymen were only three hundred strong armored men, it had overturned the overly simplistic preconceptions that the Vice commander had held about war.
The cultivators of the prominent families that also stayed behind were a little calmer than him, but their complexion still showed that they were stunned by sight before them.
In just an instant, the cultivation base of the three hundred cavalrymen of the enemy surged to an astounding level as they all released it together synchronizing with each other, a feat that was impossible to be replicated by the humans.
In that instant, the militia and officer on the back paled in shock and horror.
As the saying went, it is always the bystanders who have the most clear view of the situation.
Commander Nexon finally noticed the crucial error he had made.
But at this time, it was already too late for having second thoughts.
"Prepare yourselves!!" His voice resounded clearly amongst the Armen Kingdom’s soldiers as he uttered his final command.
The Armen cavalrymen held their weapons tightly in their grip with tensed bodies. Their eyes were fixated on the charging enemy cavalrymen, waiting for the moment to strike.
The rumbling sound of clopping hooves crested as the warhorses positioned in the wedge formation swiftly closed the distance to them.
As long as Nexon could stop their very first charge, he would be able to crush the enemy cavalry with his own easily since they had a higher number than the enemy, not to mention he was going to cut off their path from behind and then have the foot soldiers attack from the other side, ultimately bringing the three hundred men to their knees.
"Archers, ready!" the Vice commander of the Armen Kingdom roared.
Uncountable arrows carrying formidable might that could shatter even boulders fell like rain upon the formation of the enemy cavalrymen and towards Marco when they were well within the range of the archers of the Armen Kingdom.
No matter which battlefield one was in, the archers were always the first to engage the enemy.
Whoosh!
As countless arrows fell upon Marco, his men, who were all puppets, lowered their helmeted heads and took the arrows head-on.
Those arrows ended up being easily parried or deflected by the enemy cavalrymen, and even the most powerful of them only ended up slightly grazing one of the puppets.
"Hahaha..." Frenzied laughter filled the battlefield as the puppets of Alex, or currently, Marco overcame the rain of arrows. Unlike ordinary humans or cultivators, even if his puppets were hit, they wouldn’t die unless their body was entirely destroyed.
Just when the enemy cavalrymen were only three hundred meters away, Commander Nexon cut down his sword diagonally.
Marco also swung his Warhammer at the same angle to meet the commander Nexon’s sword head-on. But just then, their eyes met with each other; Commander Nexon saw a glow in Marco’s eyes, causing him to go in a trance.
His vision changed, rather than Marco, Nexon saw his twenty-one-year-old son galloping on a horse to attack him. He unwittingly tried to stop his sword from hacking his own and even stopped channeling earth elemental Qi in the Yellow Ranked weapon.
"Bang!"
The ground rumbled violently.
Upon feeling the might of the force transferring from the Warhammer into him, the Armen Kingdom’s Commander suddenly trembled uncontrollably, and his face turned ashen gray as he came out of the illusion.
The defense of the Earthern Qi around him was like a paper in front of that force. It broke apart at the moment of impact.
Kacha!
Commander Nexon cringed in pain. His arm holding the sword broke and got hurled back by the Warhammer.
Just after that, Marco changed the hand holding his weapon and immediately used the previous on to grab at Commander Nexon’s neck just as he was bout to fall off his horse.
It all happened swiftly. Marco successfully caught Nexon by his neck. Picked him off his horse like a toy.
Both their horses brushed past each other, but they were not alone. The cavalrymen from both the side collided into each other with their weapons out.
Neighhh!
The loud collision and the barbarity from the encounter left the warhorses behind neighing in agitation.
The Armen soldiers at the forefront had their faces paled, and their bodies jolted under the impact of the collision of the horses or their weapons.
Some of them even had the region between their thumb and forefinger splitting under the fearsome pressure, and fresh blood trickled down their hands. They were thrown off their horses on the ground before being crushed by the rampaging steeds of the enemy or the allies.
"Arghh!"
Marco waved his Warhammer, sending the three cavalrymen flying in the air. One of them was a middle stage Dantian Formation Realm cultivator.
Like an arrow, the three hundred puppets cut through the formation of the Armen cavalrymen like a knife cutting through butter.
They found little resistance since Marco was at the helm of the formation, crushing or sending every unlucky enemy soldiers that came before himself flying into the air.
"Ha!" Marco channeled more Qi to strengthen the barrier around his horse in order to protect it from the collision with the enemy horses.
He did this all the while having caught Nexon by his neck, dangling him on his right side and waving his weapon at the enemy with his left hand.
The Vice Commander and the other high-level cultivators looked in horror as they saw the enemy cavalrymen successfully breaching the last line and pouring out from the back of their own formation.
And just after making it out, Marco turned his horse to the left while the puppet behind him turned his horse to the right.
Like this, each puppet alternatively changed direction and followed behind either of those two. They did not go and attack the footsoldiers who were just a minute of charge from that place.
In the previous battles, such a scenario had never happened before.
