Chu Xi howled as if in grievance and hid in Yan Ningbai’s small arms with its tail between its legs. Only its tip of the tail was wagging.

Jiang Changdai gave a seemingly sad look at Yan Beicheng as she wore her good heel in one foot, and the destroyed one in the other foot. She stiffened as she put it on, her feet drenched in Chu Xi’s saliva, it was extremely disgusting.

Jiang Changdai cried as she followed Yan Zhiqing out.

The moment they stepped out of the mansion’s gate, Jiang Changdai wiped away her tears and sat in the backseat of the car with Yan Zhiqing. She immediately kicked away the heels that were bitten by Chu Xi with disgust.

After a while, Jiang Changdai said, “Zhiqing, you were too rash just now at the old mansion.”

“I can’t stand by and do nothing while they bully you,” Yan Zhiqing replied resentfully.

Jiang Changdai patted Yan Zhiqing on the knees. “You are their granddaughter and you have a natural advantage. I don’t need to spell out how beneficial it is for you as a member of the Yan family. You can’t lose the love of the two elders, they would be the ones you will rely on in the future, including Yan Beicheng. There’s nothing for me anymore, but you’re different. Now that you’re older, you should understand the situation.”

“I know. I’ll go coax grandpa and grandma tomorrow,” said Yan Zhiqing.

Jiang Changdai nodded and she squinted her eyes.

She could not let today’s matter off the hook so easily.

No matter what, she would not allow Lin Chu to marry Yan Beicheng.

...

The Yan family did not know Jiang Changdai’s thoughts. Even if they did, it would not have mattered to them. What kind of trouble would she be capable of brewing?

The troublemaking Chu Xi wagged its tail as it ran towards Lin Chu’s feet. Its fat body rubbed against Lin Chu’s legs over and over again, shedding its fur onto her pants.

It then lolled its tongue as it stood up, placing its front paws on her knees.

Lin Chu poked its head gently with her index finger. “Well, how thick-skinned are you to come making up to me after creating trouble!”

“Our Chu Xi is a good dog!” Yan Ningbai sat down too and brushed Chu Xi’s fur.

He was the one that had gotten Chu Xi to chew Jiang Changdai’s heels. Chu Xi was such a good dog and a dependable friend in war!

However, Yan Ningbai was feeling guilty over nearly causing Chu Xi to be hit.

“Chu Xi, you’ve performed well today. I’ll feed you some meat when my birthday comes!” Yan Ningbai hugged Chu Xi’s neck and said affectionately.

Chu Xi replied, “Woof!”

Yu Zi fondled Chu Xi’s head, which was now twice the size than it used to be and said to Lin Chu, “Ningbai’s birthday is coming soon. He was thinking to invite the children from the orphanage and we thought about it. We’ve never planned for Ningbai’s birthday to be a lavish affair and would prefer to celebrate it with our relatives and close friends. It won’t mean anything if we were to invite too many people whom we’re not familiar with and create some pointless imagery. So, we’re thinking to organize it at the orphanage and let the children enjoy it together. The orphanage principal also won’t have to worry about the children. We’re also planning to invite Qi Chengzhi’s family and the others to be there too.”

Yan Ningbai, who was being affectionate to Chu Xi, raised his round little face from Chu Xi’s thick fur and nodded enthusiastically and said, “I’d like to spend my birthday with Mo Jingxi and the others.”

“Okay, let me speak to the principal. They’re going to be very happy,” Lin Chu agreed with a smile.

After hugging Chu Xi, Yan Ningbai climbed into the arms of Old Lady Yan to coax her. Old Lady Yan was so tickled by him that she kept smiling. No one was sure if her anger had dissipated by at least she was laughing happily because of Yan Ningbai’s antics.

...

Yan Ningbai’s birthday was next Thursday. Since the children had to go to school and the adults had to work, they could not celebrate it on that day. So, they decided to buy a cake on Thursday and cook a bowl of birthday noodles for Yan Ningbai. They would do a proper celebration on Sunday as a replacement.

Lin Chu gave the old principal a call to inform her of their plans. The principal was so happy that she turned around to inform the children about the party without hanging up the phone.

Lin Chu could hear the happy cheers of the children through the phone.

Sunday came and Lin Chu dragged Yan Beicheng out to pick a birthday present for Yan Ningbai.

Yan Beicheng might look like he was not interested but he still patiently accompanied her shopping. Not long after, Lin Chu felt something wrong with Yan Beicheng’s mood.

He would occasionally look at her in bitter, but when she looked over, he would pretend to look away as if nothing had happened.

After that, Lin Chu would feel a heavy and pressuring atmosphere that felt by the minute.

Lin Chu picked up a Pikachu trolley bag for Yan Beicheng to see, “What do you think of this?”

She had the same idea as Yan Huaian and Yu Zi. No matter how rich your family was, children should be treated like children, and not be pacified with money.

He should be given education and material goods according to his age.

Yan Huaian and Yu Zi can give Yan Ningbai branded items. Even his bag could have been branded and his gifts could be lavish.

But they chose not to. A child for his age should be gifted stationery and items that could be used for school. He could also be given some toys or a handphone cover worth tens of Yuans. These were things that were necessary and inexpensive. It was sufficient for children his age.

That was the way Lin Chu was picking his present. She picked items suitable for a seven-year-old child and not something expensive. Yan Huaian and his wife could easily afford them anyway.

Lin Chu looked at the bag. It was in an exact shape of Pikachu and was built very well. She wondered what was used to support the bag within the layers to make this yellow Pikachu look plump and feel soft. The ears were shaped sharply and its lightning-shaped tail reached out from the side.

Lin Chu looked at the character’s big, adorable eyes and said excitedly to Yan Beicheng, “Doesn’t it look like Ningbai?”

Yan Beicheng glanced at it casually and acknowledged with an ‘Mm’ half-heartedly.

Then his face went grim like he was unhappy about something.

Lin Chu ignored him and went to pay for the bag. When she returned, Yan Beicheng still looked unhappy. She wondered what was wrong with him today, he was suddenly acting up.

So, she decided to pretend not to notice his unhappy expression and asked, “What did you get Ningbai?”

Yan Beicheng glanced at her casually again and his mouth twitched and replied, “An English dictionary.”

He was going to get him to memorize one page a day!

It was Yan Ningbai’s fault for celebrating his birthday, causing Lin Chu to neglect him. She did not even ask him when his birthday was, which was happening tomorrow. Yan Beicheng did not say anything and did not attempt to drop any hints because he was waiting for Lin Chu to surprise him. His expectations grew as the day drew closer.

Lin Chu did not say a word about this before, so he had assumed that she was preparing something secretly.

However, judging by today’s happenings, Lin Chu did not seem to know it was his birthday tomorrow and it was making Yan Beicheng crazy.

Why did Lin Chu not care about him?!

All his passwords had Lin Chu’s birthday in them!

Poor Yan Ningbai got blamed for nothing. He had no idea that big nephew was mad at him.

Lin Chu, “...”

Yan Ningbai would cry if he received this present during his birthday!

Lin Chu had hoped that Yan Beicheng was kidding. She had no idea what was making him so unhappy. In the end, he held on to Yan Ningbai’s new Pikachu school bag and brought her to the bookstore next door. He selected a thick Oxford English-Chinese Dictionary for him. It was so thick that Yan Ningbai could use it as a pillow!

Lin Chu, “...”

“Birthdays are only once a year. He’s going to feel a lot of pressure if you give this to him,” Lin Chu said quietly and tugged at Yan Beicheng’s sleeve as he prepared to pay for the big dictionary.

“The whole family would be happy to see him learning properly,” Yan Beicheng paid without hesitation. His mood got lighter as he looked at the thick and heavy dictionary.

Sacrificing the boy’s happiness to make the whole family happy. It was worth it!

Lin Chu, “...”

‘Ningbai, I tried my best to help you but your big nephew was in one of his moods.’

...

When Lin Chu and Yan Beicheng were busy picking out Yan Ningbai’s present, Yan Zhiqing returned to the old mansion.

She hesitantly went up to Old Lady Yan and said red-faced to the two elders, “Grandpa, grandma, yesterday... Yesterday I was rash because of my mum. I am sorry, I wasn’t thinking straight. What... What I said yesterday wasn’t intentional. I didn’t know what came over me. I said those things because my mind was in a mess. I didn’t mean them.”

They looked at this 18-year-old girl who usually stood proud and tall, shredded her pride and ego apologizing in a red face, tugging on the corner of her clothes insecurely.

Old Lady Yan’s heart softened and rubbed her head. This was her granddaughter, after all. She did not mind it at all and got Yan Zhiqing to go back to her room for a rest and stop thinking about what happened yesterday.

Yan Zhiqing nodded and lowered her head. When she returned to her room, the look in her eyes turned cold.

...

In the afternoon, a white BMW stopped in front of the Lin family villa.

The bell rang at the Lin family house and Aunt Dong opened the door. She was surprised to see the woman standing at the door. She had an exceptional charisma about her and felt much more of a noblewoman compared to Su Changxin.

“You are...” Aunt Dong asked curiously.

Jiang Changdai smiled politely and gently, “Hello, I am Jiang Changdai, the mother of Yan Beicheng. So sorry to barge in suddenly, but may I know if Mr. Lin and Madam Lin are at home?”

Aunt Dong naturally knew who Yan Beicheng was. Even if she did not, she had been hearing that name frequently when Su Changxin and Lin Zhenghe were complaining. When Lin Yuwen came home, Lin Chu’s name was always hanging on her mouth. Every time she cursed at Lin Chu, she would add on the sentence, ‘if it was not for Yan Beicheng’. That was why Aunt Dong was now very familiar with the name ‘Yan Beicheng’.

“Please give me a minute,” Aunt Dong said. She closed the door and went on to inform Lin Zhenghe and Su Changxin.

“Master, madam, there’s a woman here for you who claims to be Yan Beicheng’s mother.”

Lin Zhenghe and Su Changxin frowned and looked at each other. The two of them were not familiar with the Yan family matters, even less so on the relationship between Yan Beicheng and Jiang Changdai. They would occasionally discuss with their circle of friends regarding why the Yan family only has the two elders. They have heard of Yan Huaian and Yu Zi and often saw them in social activities but they have never seen Yan Beicheng’s mother appear. They did not even know what she looked like.

The two of them started to worry. Was Yan Beicheng’s mother here to take revenge on them and came to stand up for Lin Chu?

By the looks of the Yan family reaction, they have already treated Lin Chu as one of their own.

The most important thing was, the Lin family was now in deep trouble. The company was getting harder and harder to maintain. While they were not on the brink of bankruptcy, they had lost 60% of their businesses and Su Changxin was starting to get worried about bankruptcy.

While she felt uneasy about it, Su Changxin still got Aunt Dong to invite Jiang Changdai in.

Jiang Changdai was welcomed politely by Aunt Dong. Lin Zhenghe and Su Changxin did not give away their thoughts but they wanted to know the reason why Jiang Changdai was here.

Jiang Changdai had previously investigated Lin Chu and was aware that she was not on good terms with the Lin family.

The enemy of her enemy was her friend. Based on this principle, Jiang Changdai was very polite and did not show them her domineering side, which she showed Lin Chu.

“Mr. Lin, Madam Lin, my name is Jiang Changdai and I am Yan Beicheng’s mother. I’m sorry to visit without informing in advance. It’s because I had no idea how to contact you. Other than coming here like this, there was no other way,” Jiang Changdai apologized politely.

Su Changxin and Lin Zhenghe exchanged glances. It did not look like Jiang Changdai was here to look for trouble.

The smile on Su Changxin’s face became more polite. “Miss Jiang, please take a seat. I apologize for letting you wait outside for so long. To be honest, although you are Master Yan’s mother and Lin Chu is not with Master Yan, but Lin Chu’s relationship with our family is...”

Su Changxin did not attempt to hide this point. It was publicly known that Lin Chu and the Lin family were not on good terms, especially since Lin Chu brought Lin Yuwen to court. The fiasco had grabbed everyone’s attention and she was sure that Jiang Changdai would have heard about it.

Putting it out there was also a good way to test Jiang Changdai’s opinion on the matter.

Jiang Changdai’s expression did not change and her smile maintained its politeness. It did not look like she was here to settle some score.

Su Changxin had Aunt Dong to prepare some snacks and got her to leave the room.

Jiang Changdai said, “I believe both of you are aware that Beicheng’s father had passed away earlier on. After his death, I returned to Ning City. I did not want to stay in the sad place that is B city, otherwise, I’ll always be thinking about Beicheng’s father. I only return once a year to visit the two elders. This time back, I heard that Beicheng had gotten together with Lin Chu. I have nothing against the Lin family, but if Lin Chu is the young mistress of the Lin family, I won’t have anything to say about that either.”

“However, she is an orphan, as for her character... I am not very happy with her. But as Beicheng had approved of her, there’s nothing much I can do either.”

“Miss Jiang, do you mean...” Su Changxin asked questioningly.

“What I mean is, I’ve heard that Lin Chu is not on good terms with the Lin family, and I feel that is because she is an ungrateful person. No matter what, your family had brought her up, you should be able to have a say in certain matters,” Jiang Changdai said as looked at the tea poured by Aunt Dong. It was still steaming hot.

“I’m unhappy with Lin Chu, but it’s not my intention if I seem to look down on your family. I know your family and Lin Chu are two separate entities, what Lin Chu does have nothing to do with you. I cannot look past her non-status and her bad personality. I’m not praising him because he’s my son, but everyone agrees that Beicheng is an outstanding man. No matter which girl from any good family he marries, the girl’s side of the family will not lose out. On the other hand, being with Lin Chu is considered a big loss to him.”

Jiang Changdai continued, “They do not match each other. I believe both of you agree to that too. But Beicheng likes her and has now ignored me for Lin Chu’s sake. He no longer treats me as his mother. I’ve come to you today because I don’t know what else to do. I hope you can control Lin Chu and stop her from seducing Beicheng. She is not worthy of stepping into the doors of the Yan family.”

Su Changxin sighed, “If we were able to control her, we would have done so already. Since she got together with Master Yan, she’s been having her revenge on us. To be honest, we’re not happy with her despicable actions. Unfortunately, the two elders of the Yan family have accepted her and it’s really out of our hands. We can’t even save ourselves at the moment.”

Jiang Changdai smiled, “The Jiang family may not compare to the Yan family, but we do still have some standing in the business world. We can work with Lin Mao and get Lin Mao out of its dire situation. Our future cooperation will help bring Lin Mao to the next level.”

Su Changxin did not dare to decide on this and looked at Lin Zhenghe.

Only did Lin Zhenghe said something, “Lin Chu has never listened to us. Before she was even with Yan Beicheng, she was already disrespectful to us. Whatever we say or do does not affect her. Instead of coming to us, you should visit the orphanage where she grew up. The orphanage is very important to her and if something were to happen to it...”

Lin Zhenghe did not explain further. Jiang Changdai understood him.

“Thank you for your pointer, Mr. Lin,” Jiang Changdai thanked. She was satisfied and prepared to leave.

After Jiang Changdai left, Su Changxin said, “Why didn’t you agree to help her? Lin Mao’s condition...”

Lin Zhenghe replied, “What do you know? The Jiang family is far away in Ning City. If they worked with us and Yan Beicheng wanted to give us trouble, the Jiang family would not go against Yan Beicheng. They are family at the end of the day. Even if they did work with us, could they help the whole of Lin Mao? Jiang Changdai is just giving us a verbal agreement. Once something happens, who would believe which party? Might as well let them fight it out among themselves.”

Lin Zhenghe sneered, “Jiang Changdai is determined to break up Yan Beicheng and Lin Chu. Why should we get involved with something that just wastes our time and energy? Let’s just wait and see what Jiang Changdai would do. Besides, doesn’t Lin Chu care about the orphanage? We are not like before, we can’t go head to head with them, but we cannot allow Yuwen to suffer too. This is a good opportunity to hit back at Lin Chu without us doing anything. We don’t even need to risk our company.”

A look of realization came to Su Changxin’s face and she started to gloat in anticipation.

...

Yan Beicheng’s moodiness continued the whole day till dinner time.

In the afternoon, Lin Chu had asked him what the matter was but Yan Beicheng remained silent and grim-faced. So, Lin Chu decided to personally cook him a meal to cheer him up.

In the end, Yan Beicheng picked on everything. The fish was too fishy, the meat was too tough, the vegetables were not crunchy enough and the rice was too soft.

“What is the matter with you today?” Lin Chu got angry with Yan Beicheng’s fussiness.

He got into a temper for no good reason and she had tried her best to coax him. Yet, he got even moodier.

“I’ve no appetite!” Yan Beicheng threw his chopsticks on the table and went into his study.

Lin Chu, “...”

“What’s... What’s wrong with the master?” Aunt Zhuang did not understand.

Lin Chu replied gloomily, “Who knows what’s the matter with him?”

She chewed on the vegetable ferociously.

It took hard work for her to make this and yet he did not know to cherish it, even taking the trouble to pick on everything.

Lin Chu rubbed her aching chest and chewed even more ferociously as if she was chewing him.

...

When she returned to the bedroom, Yan Beicheng had not returned. So, Lin Chu went to take a bath.

She jumped into bed after her bath and opened her group chat. She started to complain to Xu Moyan and Zheng Yuntong. The group chat had only three of them for easy chatting.

After a while, Yan Beicheng came in. Lin Chu glared at him and said nothing. Yan Beicheng stayed silent and went into the bathroom. Lin Chu was seething inside.

After Yan Beicheng took his bath, he leaned towards her but said nothing. All he did was stared at her.

Lin Chu felt her head went numb by the intense stare and put down her phone to turn to him. She asked him with a cold look, “What’s wrong?”

The look in Yan Beicheng’s eyes got soulfully deeper, “Don’t you have something to say to me?”

Lin Chu was taken aback and looked puzzled, “What do I need to say? I’m not hiding anything from you.”

Lin Chu could not stop thinking about it. She was hiding nothing from him. Why did Yan Beicheng’s question sound like she had done something but did not let him know?

Was this the reason why he was mad?

If there was something she did not mention, there was one, but it was not counted as hiding it from him.

Yan Beicheng pressed his lips, and with one last hope, asked again, “You don’t?

Lin Chu shook her head innocently.

Yan Beicheng’s good-looking thin lips pressed tighter together, forming an angry line. He pulled up the covers and covered himself up to the neck. He was wrapped up tightly as he turned with his back to her. He looked like he was sulking.

Lin Chu, “...”

Lin Chu gave it a thought and suddenly understood why Yan Beicheng had lost his temper again.

Yan Beicheng acted just like a little child in a situation like this. She was initially mad at him, but now, his actions were adorable like that of a jealous, little boy.

When she was being unreasonable, Yan Beicheng had taken his time to coax her.

Now that this was happening, Lin Chu moved closer to him and pulled down the covers. She gently shook Yan Beicheng’s shoulders.

“What’s wrong with you? Why did you suddenly lose your temper? You’re always nagging me about the same thing.”

Yan Beicheng silently pulled back his covers and ignored her.

“...” Lin Chu clenched her teeth and stuck close to his back brazenly. Her chin was on his shoulders while one side of her face was on his cheek. Her face was red, but she kissed him on his angry lips anyway and shook his shoulders while saying coquettishly, “Don’t be angry, Yan Beicheng.”

The words ‘Yan Beicheng’ twirled around on her tongue, she said it like she was singing a song. The last word ‘Cheng’ sounded like a gentle riff, her soft voice made it sound seductive.

Yan Beicheng could feel her softness on his back and her seductive voice in his ear. Her lips were brushing against his ears, he did not know if it was intentional.

This big man was successfully teased by her and his ears turned red.

While Lin Chu was still coaxing him, Yan Beicheng suddenly turned around and pressed down on her. He kissed her ferociously on the lips as one hand pulled her clothes off while the other hand attempted to pull off her pants.

“You heartless little thing!” Lin Chu vaguely heard Yan Beicheng said the words roughly as he was kissing her.

This time, it was obvious that Yan Beicheng’s moodiness had transformed into ferociousness as he had his way with her. He took her in three different positions and later, he enjoyed her again with another three different positions, never once repeating himself.

Lin Chu felt her legs and waist being tortured endlessly. They did not seem to belong to her anymore. Her legs were constantly bent, and by the end of it all, she could no longer straighten it as her muscles were aching.

When Yan Beicheng was being exceptionally passionate, she could feel herself floating about. First, she was surfing on the waves of the stormy seas, next she was hit ferociously by the waves, it threw her to the front, back, left and right. Next, it was like riding wildly on a horse, there was no saddle and it was terribly bumpy. Her bones were about to fall apart.

In the end, Lin Chu was too tired and could not take it any longer. She closed her eyes and blacked out, letting him do whatever he wanted to her.

Yan Beicheng had a really good time letting it all out. He had never dared do this before but took the opportunity to take her fiercely while she was relenting. He hugged Lin Chu before going to sleep and considered if he should lose his temper once in a while.

Some benefits came with losing one’s temper.

It was the same logic as giving a crying child some sweets. For some reason, Yan Beicheng suddenly thought of that analogy but his expression went stiff. That was no good.

He closed his eyes to get some sleep. He was not about to admit that he was an immature little boy.

...

The next morning, Lin Chu almost could not get out of bed. As soon as she sat up, she fell back into bed. Her whole body was aching, there was not a place of her that was not in pain.

She turned to the side and looked at the man who was woken up with her attempts of getting out of bed. He looked energetic and fresh. He was mad her yesterday but now, he seemed to have forgotten about it.

He smiled at her gentle, good-looking face. His dark eyes seemed to be filled with stars. He said with a hoarse voice that sounded like he just woke up, “Morning.”

Lin Chu wanted to curse him and without hesitation, kicked him hard.

Yan Beicheng was not prepared for it and his two long legs were kicked out of bed and fell to the ground.

Yan Beicheng scratched his head and sat up. He reached his hands under the covers and pinched her waist. “Didn’t you sleep well last night? What’s with the temper this morning?”

Lin Chu’s lips trembled as she smiled coldly, “What do you think?”

Yan Beicheng, “...”

She must not have slept well after enduring the whole of last night.

He rubbed his nose guiltily, “How about if I massaged you?”

“Get out now!” Lin Chu said in contempt and ignored him. She pulled the covers for herself and left him sitting naked in bed.

Lin Chu got off the bed in the covers and walked slowly step by step. Every step was torture.

It took her quite a while to get to the cupboard. She pulled open the cupboard and took out the clothes she wanted to wear today and got dressed in the safety of the bathroom.

Yan Beicheng sat up with his hands on his chin while looking at the bathroom. He decided not to remind her that it was his birthday today.

If he waited until tonight to let her know, she was going to feel guilty...

Hoho, then tonight, he would have his way with her again.

Lin Chu had no idea what Yan Beicheng was planning. She changed and wanted to walk out but felt like she had twisted her waist, so she held on to her waist and rested for a while before going out. She was considering canceling a plan she had made for tonight.

...

There was nothing much going on in the afternoon, so Lin Chu took three hours leave from work. When Wei Zilin heard that Lin Chu had suddenly applied for leave, he approved it and started to contemplate it.

After a while, he seemed to think of something and turned on the calendar on his phone. He smiled and closed the calendar application and log in to WeChat instead. He was afraid no one would notice his presence, so he purposely typed in a row of emojis with a sinister smile.

From Yan Beicheng’s description, if it was sent out by others, it was a sinister smile. If it was Wei Zilin, it looked especially despicable.

Not long after, Yan Beicheng replied, “What are you smiling about?”

Wei Zilin, “I have a little secret, but I’m not telling you~ Not telling you ~ Not telling you~”

Yan Beicheng, “...”

Han Zhuoli, “Wei Zilin, you need to get to the hospital for a check-up, you know?”

Wei Zhiqian, “Zhaoyang, get Wei Zilin registered in your hospital. Your older brother here is getting worried.”

Wei Ziqi, “His older brother is here.”

Wei Zilin, “...”

Chu Zhaoyang, “Come to the hospital at 10 am tomorrow.”

Wei Zilin, “...”

The next lines immediately saw Han Zhuoli and the others type out rolling on the floor laughing emojis.

...

Lin Chu was not aware of what happened and took a taxi to a handmade ring shop.

This was a shop that allowed one to create a ring by hand.

The materials and tools were already prepared. She had previously measured his fingers while Yan Beicheng was deep in sleep.

With instructions from the shop employees, Lin Chu did everything from the scribing, to polishing and hammering. It was only the last step that required the help of professionals.

It took her more than two hours to finish the ring. Lin Chu’s hands now felt rough. There was powder all over her fingers and her knuckles were coarse. They hurt a lot.

But when the shop employee brought out her masterpiece, Lin Chu felt that it was all worth it.

She had made it herself, so there were no special, intricate carvings on it. It was just a smooth ring. However, as it was a men’s ring, this simple style would look quite good.

Lin Chu looked at the time and got a taxi back to Yan Hui.

It was a little early and there was still half an hour more before Yan Beicheng finished work. She had purposely called Zuo Qiu to ask if Yan Beicheng had anything special going on and if he was able to leave work on time.

Zuo Qiu had a sly look when he asked, “Hoho, Miss Lin, are you planning to give Master Yan a surprise?”

Lin Chu felt that this man was too much of gossip and warned him, “Don’t you make him suspect anything. If you spoil this for me, I’ll whisper bad things about you to Yan Beicheng and get you in trouble.”

Zuo Qiu, “...”

‘Master Yan, your woman can do battle, did you know that?’

...

There was not much more to do, so she went to a café next to the office and ordered a coffee while she waited.

About five minutes before the work shift ended, Lin Chu walked out of the café and waited at the entrance of Yan Beicheng’s company. The weather was not that cold now, windbreakers were not changed to thin coats.

Not long after, employees were coming out of the office after work. As time passed, more and more people came out. They exited in groups and it was especially crowded.

Amidst the crowd, Lin Chu spotted Yan Beicheng coming out with his briefcase. He looked tall in his suit. Even in this environment, he was good-looking and dashing. This was his image in the company, a little cold but he made people feel they could rely on him.

Yan Beicheng vaguely spotted something that brightened his sight. It was a familiar figure. He could not be seeing things. But it could be his overthinking during the day that was causing his eye to blur.

But as he walked closer and the crowd got smaller, there she was standing daintily on the steps. That was his woman!

The sky was turning dark at this hour. There was a lazy atmosphere yet Lin Chu’s presence brightened up the particular spot she was standing on.

She had on a loose lotus-colored knitted lapel shirt worn over her white cotton shirt. A long clover necklace hung over her neck. Her fitted jeans revealed her skinny, light ankles. She had on a pair of printed yellow heels. It was a comfortable, relaxed look that was also professional.

She stood there looking quaint. Her hands were holding onto her purse. When she saw that he spotted her, she smiled so adorably sweet that she brightened up the whole sky.

Yan Beicheng’s heart beat wildly as he watched her smile. His lips could not help but curved upwards. All he could see was her, there was nobody else.

A short distance away, someone called out ‘Beicheng’, but he did not hear it. He took a strode over to where Lin Chu was.

Lu Weining’s smile was frozen on her face. She watched as Yan Beicheng walked past her with an intent gaze forward. She did not know if it was intentional or he did not notice her existence.

Lu Weining felt that he did it on purpose. How could he not see her when she was just standing there?

There were a few products under Yan Hui that was looking for spokespersons, but no one had contacted Xing Chuang. Lu Weining was not willing to believe that Yan Hui did not contact Xing Chuang because of her.

But she still took the opportunity to visit Yan Hui personally. She wanted to fight for a spokesperson role for Shu Yuxin.

However, Yan Beicheng did not plan on meeting her. The person liaising with her was the manager of Yan Hui’s Public Relations Department. The manager did not give her any confirmation on the job, all he did was gave her the roundabout. This was why Lu Weining knew that Yan Hui did not want to work with Xing Chuang.

She had heard about the few celebrities they had contacted. None of them were as popular as Shu Yuxin.

She did not dare confirm if Yan Hui was purposely giving trouble to Xing Chuang and the Lu family. If it did, this would mean big trouble.

When Lu Weining came out, there was still a long time to go before working hours were over, but she did not want to leave just like that. She wanted to take the opportunity to meet Yan Beicheng. If she used work as an excuse, there was no way Yan Beicheng would not see her.

However, Yan Beicheng’s assistant insisted that Yan Beicheng was busy, so she had to give in and wait for him instead.

She had given it a thought. She was going to use this opportunity to inform Yan Beicheng that she would no longer disturb him but in return, she would like him to stop going against Xing Chuang. She decided to make concessions to gain advantages.

When she saw Beicheng, she had called out ‘Beicheng’ and walked to his front. She had not expected him to stoically not see her and brushed her by.

Lu Weining turned back with a grim expression and saw Lin Chu at the entrance. She was smiling at Yan Beicheng. Her smile was so glaring!

As she watched Yan Beicheng walked over, she saw him hold Lin Chu’s hand without a care for the crowd and lowered his heads to kiss her on the lips.
