This was why she did not feel pressured when she was with Wei Zilin’s eldest uncle. Furthermore, she had met Wei Ziqi and Wei Ran before.
The only issue was that she was unsure of how his Third Uncle and Third Aunt would react. She was not sure if they would hold some negative opinions toward her.
Xu Moyan got so worried that she could not eat.
Wei Zilin felt a little remorseful. He should have only told her this after dinner.
“You’re not eating anymore?” Wei Zilin asked.
Xu Moyan rubbed her belly. “I can’t eat anymore. I have no appetite.”
“I’m sorry. I only found out about it this morning after Third Madam Jian called me and told me earlier today. She said that Old Master woke up very early whilst feeling extremely happy. That’s why she called my eldest uncle, my parents, and my Third Uncle to tell them to go over. Third Madam Jian called me because she was afraid that I wouldn’t be prepared for this,” Wei Zilin explained.
“Third Madam Jian?” Xu Moyan shifted her attention toward his strange honorific.
Wei Zilin replied, “She is my grandfather’s third wife, the previous two passed away. My eldest uncle was borne by the first wife whilst my grandmother is my grandfather’s second wife. My grandfather did not think of remarrying again after both of his wives died, but he did date someone who later died due to complications after giving birth to my Third Uncle. After that, he got to know his third and current wife. They’ve just never had any kids together. Third Madam Jian is a lot younger compared to my grandfather, so it will be okay if we were to call her Aunty. But since she’s my grandfather’s wife, we all call her Third Madam Jian instead.”
Xu Moyan was startled after hearing this. Old Master Wei was such a legend!
Wei Zilin picked up the spoon and put it in Xu Moyan’s hand. “Have some more. You didn’t eat a lot. I don’t think I can ease your mind by telling you not to worry, but you will understand when you arrive. Also, if something were to happen, I’ll be by your side. You have to believe in yourself though – you’re amazing and I can’t find any flaws in you.”
Xu Moyan smiled a little as she found this impossible. Wei Zilin was possibly the only one that found her flawless.
It was unlike when she looked at him and thought that he was flawless.
He was truly flawless, unlike her.
She was just a normal person. She did not have any talents nor any power to do anything. There was nothing special about her.
She was not as special as Wei Zilin thought.
Even with Wei Zilin trying to comfort her, she still could not eat with her mind so preoccupied. In the end, she forced herself to finish her porridge.
However, the portion was not a lot as the bowl was only the size of her hand. It was as if she was eating nothing at all.
Nevertheless, Wei Zilin did not force her after seeing that she was struggling with her food.
There would definitely be food when they were at the Old Master’s place anyway as Jian Muhua was very considerate so she would be sure to prepare a lot of food for them.
He would let her eat some more once she felt more at ease.
After breakfast, Aunt Liu was left alone to clean up their plates. Meanwhile, Wei Zilin took out a bag of sugar hawthorns for Xu Moyan to eat on the way. He felt that it could act as an appetizer for her so that she would feel better and hopefully rekindle her appetite.
When they got into the car, Xu Moyan said, “Tell me about your family. I don’t know anything about them.”
Wei Zilin thought for a moment but felt like he could not really cover everything about his family during such a short journey, so he chose to only tell her the good things so that she would feel more relaxed.
“You know my eldest uncle and my eldest aunt. My father was forced to retire by the Old Master so that he would stay at home and not go to the office; this also made my brother’s job at the office easier. Therefore, you don’t have to be afraid of my father as he’s just a retired old man now. There’s nothing to be afraid of. You’re kind and compassionate, and you have a decent job. Not to mention, you’re bettering your life by making money off of your hobbies. He’s just a retired old man, so he’s nothing compare to you. That’s why he does not have any reasons to dislike you. I really mean it,” Wei Zilin said.
Xu Moyan could not help but let out a giggle after hearing how Wei Zilin described his father. He probably only said all these things about his own father to ease her worries.
“My mom’s an ordinary housewife. She takes care of me and my father. Before this, she would listen to my father no matter what he said. After my father was dismissed from the company, she would listen to me. My mom’s indecisive, but it’s good that she won’t come up with any weird ideas. She will discuss whatever’s at hand with me so that I can be the one that makes the decision. This is also why she won’t have any negative comments about my wife,” Wei Zilin explained slowly.
They took off early. Since it was a Saturday, there was not a lot of traffic on the road since everyone was still at home. The morning sun was not shining very brightly yet, but it was still radiant. It shone down on the windshield, right onto their faces.
Wei Zilin’s voice was as refreshing as the morning air as it mixed with a hint of warmth from the morning sun.
“You can be even more at ease around my Third Uncle and Third Aunt. It could be because of his upbringing, but my Third Uncle is very rational. He’s the fairest amongst all of us and won’t take sides if he disagrees with both parties. There was a time when my eldest uncle and my father were arguing. Back then, Third Uncle sided with my eldest uncle based on morals. He will scold anyone’s child if he thinks that they’re at fault, regardless of who that child is. Wei Zizhe is my Third Uncle’s son.”
With that, Wei Zilin chuckled. “I’m not sure why, but aside from my eldest aunt, my Third Aunt would also listen to my Third Uncle, just like my mom. No matter what he said, my Third Aunt would do it.”
“So, you mean if your Third Uncle has no comments on me, then your Third Aunt will similarly be neutral about me as well?” Xu Moyan asked. It seemed like the difficulty level had been halved after hearing this.
Wei Zilin wanted to tell her that she was overthinking this. His Third Uncle would surely be fond of her. He said this because he thought that his family and his Third Uncle’s family were similar in those ways.
However, since Xu Moyan misunderstood him, he did not say too much. Suddenly, he thought of something and continued with a smile on his face, “Yeah, see, my family members all listen to me. If you can get on my good side, then you can get on my family’s good side. So, basically, you’ve already pleased all of them.”
Xu Moyan: “...”
It sort of made sense, so she did not argue with him.
Wei Zilin continued talking about the elders of his family, and before long they reached the Old Master’s house. Moreover, there were no traffic on the road, which meant the journey was extra quick. As they pulled up to the house, Xu Moyan could see two adults and two kids standing in front of the door. Xu Moyan was a little near-sighted so she could not make out their faces, but judging from their body size, it looked like Wei Ziqi and Wei Ran.
Wei Zilin smiled. “My brother and Wei Ran are already at the door. I think they’re here to welcome us.”
Xu Moyan got out after they stopped the car. Finally, she could make out Wei Ziqi and Wei Ran’s faces clearly.
Wei Ziqi was holding Wei Muche in his arms. Little Bun was not fussy as he sat quietly in his father’s arms. His head was resting gently on Wei Ziqi’s shoulder.
When he heard the noise, he lifted his head curiously.
Little Muran was standing next to Wei Ran. She waved her arms when she saw them walking over. “Second Uncle! Second Aunt!”
Xu Moyan felt calmer after being addressed like this. Thus, she smiled at Little Muran and greeted her back.
Little Muche was wearing overalls. He looked at Xu Moyan with a look of concern on his face. He had never seen Xu Moyan before, which was why he did not know her.
Meanwhile, Wei Ziqi did not say anything. Therefore, it was up to Wei Ran to introduce him, “Muche, this is your Second Aunt.”
Little Muche had just learnt to speak, which was why he was still mumbling his words. He grinned toothily and called out, “Aunt!”
He had heard his father and Second Uncle referring to Third Grandfather and Third Grandmother as Third Uncle and Third Aunt before, which was why it made sense in his little head. Aunt was his uncle’s wife. Wei Ran explained to him that it was just like his mother and father.
Then, he stretched out his hand to Wei Zilin as his soft body attempted to scoot over toward Wei Zilin. Fortunately, Wei Ziqi was holding onto him tightly, or else he would have fallen over. It was a very dangerous situation.
“Uncle, hug!” Little Muche yelled.
Wei Zilin scooped up Little Muche. Then, he shifted his position so that he could hold him more comfortably.
Xu Moyan could tell that Wei Zilin often held his nephews since he looked so natural doing it.
It was not even nine in the morning. They had left the house at 8, but this meant that Wei Ziqi’s family had left the house earlier than them.
Before this, Little Muche was lying in Wei Ziqi’s arms as if he had no energy. It could be because they had to wake up so early in the morning that he was still not fully awake yet. Thus, his big eyes had remained half-closed, like he would fall asleep at any moment.
However, now that he was in Wei Zilin’s arms, he was so energetic. He did not look tired at all as he smiled and moved around. His meaty arms gripped Wei Zilin’s neck as he called out, “Uncle! Speck!”
