Joanna remained silent.
Aria was merely a trigger; the underlying cause was her deep-rooted lack of security.
Bruce pondered for a few seconds, then took out his phone from his pocket. “I’ll call her right now and explain everything. I’ll ask her to move to a hotel.”
He was about to make a call.
Seeing this, Joanna frowned and grabbed his hand. “Bruce, don’t. Let’s not involve others in our relationship.”
He pursed his lips, looking at her with despair. “Then tell me, what kind of security do you want? I’m willing to give up my life for you. I can give you everything I have, so why do you still feel insecure? Do I have to give you my life, and die in front of you, for you to believe that I love you?”
She could not control her tears as she listened.
Her heart was in turmoil at this point.

She had no idea that he had become so chatty.

Joanna wore a face of puzzlement after the call had ended.
“Bruce, what do you want to do now?”
He heaved a sigh, then said, “I asked him to come and arrange a prenuptial agreement for us and handle the remarriage procedures.”
“Now?” She was taken aback.
“Yes! Initially, I wanted to wait until you were past the postpartum period. We could then proceed with the remarriage and even have a grand wedding ceremony. But now, I think it’s better to handle the remarriage procedures sooner to avoid unnecessary troubles. You know, you might be coming up with all sorts of weird thoughts again.”
She furrowed her brows, “Don’t…”
“Why?”
“I haven’t thought it through.” Her eyes flickered.
Indeed, she had not thought it through.
If she went through with the remarriage with him, she could not escape from him for the rest of her life.

He furrowed his brows. “What else is there to consider? You’ve already given birth to four children for me, so where else do you want to go? Who else can you marry but me?”

Bruce found the time to call Aria again.

“Aria, there’s something I want to tell you.”
She smiled. “What is it? Go ahead.”
He hesitated for a few seconds, then plucked up the courage to say, “I might not be able to go to Antlen this month.”
She was taken aback.
“I want to stay with my wife through the postpartum period. She just gave birth and is in dire need of security. You know, she is the most vulnerable now, so I can’t leave her for an extended period. Once she is out of the postpartum period, I can focus on the mission and go to Antlen.”
“Bruce, if we delay any longer, our colleagues abroad will have to bear extra anxiety and worry.”
