Chapter 1513 Cindy’s Splurge
Upon hearing Naomi’s words, Cindy had no choice but to keep all her grievances to herself as she was unable to point out the crucial problem—Ian didn’t even belong to her at all.
She had merely received some money but someday, that would be depleted too. However, once something was published online, there was no way of totally erasing it; the scathing attacks and abuses directed at her would most likely resurface in a few years.
The sole reason she agreed to collaborate with him was because of her poverty and that she needed the money.
If she wasn’t so desperate for money, there would be no way she would have agreed to go under the limelight, regardless of the amount offered to her, unless everything was according to what Naomi said, which was that Ian was hers.
Have Ian in exchange for all of this… Cindy paused for a moment and thought, If he belongs to me, I would willingly go through all these adversities. In truth, she shared the same sentiments as Naomi and she was willing to do so as well.
At least to Cindy, there were no women who could resist Ian, and she was no exception.
She had a lot of unspoken things that she merely kept to herself. As time went by, it would slowly rot away into nothing.
Just then, Cindy and Naomi entered the shopping mall and browsed around.
It was coincidentally in between seasons, so there were new launches for each brand and Cindy splurged on herself for once. She bought two new outfits, which were usually slightly out of her price range.
Meanwhile, Naomi was quite jovial standing next to Cindy. “Things are so different now. You don’t even bat an eyelid at the price anymore.”
Cindy’s expression turned somber when she heard that. “Can’t you tell that I’m quite in pain here? My heart aches so much! This is the first time I’ve paid so much for an outfit.”
Indeed, Cindy had never bought anything as expensive as the outfit, and the reason for her splurge today was because she thought of buying a finer outfit for her next appointment with Gary.
Besides, sometimes, she had to play her role as Ian’s partner so she couldn’t dress too shabbily either. Life can be tough at times.
After the shopping spree, the two of them went for some dessert, but they kept in mind that they had a dinner date with Ian and they didn’t fill their stomachs.
The two of them had different views. Naomi reckoned that Ian was the one treating them tonight and it most probably would be something more lavish, so she would be able to eat to her heart’s content.
As for Cindy, she thought otherwise and she didn’t intend to take advantage of Ian for tonight’s dinner. She planned to pay for the dinner but let Ian take the credit for it. After all, he had no obligation to treat Naomi to a meal and he actually was forced to do so because of their so-called relationship. Therefore, Cindy felt that the right thing to do would be for her to pay for dinner.
She knew that tonight’s dinner would definitely be at a high-end restaurant. Truth be told, she was quite pained to think of the money that would be spent, so she intended to starve herself until then and have her fill tonight. Despite the two women having different views, their goal was the same. Therefore, they had a small portion of dessert before returning to the hotel.
Back at the hotel, Cindy hung up her coat and rested for a short while before she attempted to contact Ian.
Right as she was about to dial his number, Naomi suddenly yelled out, “Cindy, log on to your social media now! The two girls today have kicked up a fuss and you’re currently trending.”
Cindy was shocked to hear that and her thoughts went instantly to the two girls from this afternoon. The incident from earlier wasn’t such a big deal, so she couldn’t quite comprehend how it would end up being an issue.
Soon after that, she checked social media and realized that the two girls had composed a short essay regarding this afternoon’s incident and published it as a post. Also, they had included a short clip taken
from this afternoon.
Even before Cindy could click into the clip, Naomi clicked on the play button and inched closer to her.
Cindy and Naomi were the only two faces in the clip.
However, the voice of the girl recording it rang out clearly and she didn’t even bother to edit the clip. She published the entire recording from the start.
Just then, Cindy read the caption that accompanied the video. The gist of it was that Cindy was a rude and selfish person with no regard for Ian’s reputation, and she would be a huge hindrance to his career.
The girl ended the post by rallying everyone to boycott Cindy and ask for Ian to dump her.
The conclusion of the short essay also threw shade at Naomi, as the girl mentioned that Cindy’s friend was of the same personality and both of them lacked manners.
After reading that, however, Cindy laughed. “Did you have a look at the comments below? I reckon most people with a logical mind wouldn’t be influenced by that.”
