Chapter 1532 What Is Your Net Worth?

She wondered what had possessed her, considering that she felt shy whenever she looked at Ian now.

Now that she had been staying in her room for a while, Cindy’s phone rang again.

She quickly took the device, thinking that it was Naomi. However, the caller was Gary.

The reason why he called was to inform that he had helped her to secure another investment project and wanted to confirm the details with her.

Cindy quickly answered, “Sure, no problem. I trust you. I’ll call you back later.”

He replied, “No need to hurry. You need to sign the commission contract for the investment first.”

She did not know anything about this, so she quickly agreed to his request.

Then, he changed the topic and asked, “What are you doing?”

Cindy smiled before she replied, “I’m preparing to cook dinner now. You are still working, aren’t you?”

Gary replied, “Yeah, I have quite a lot of things to do today. I bet I’ll be working overtime later in the evening.”

As she had nothing to reply, she laughed instead. “You’re quite pitiful.”

He joked, “I can’t compare myself to a sweet couple like you guys. Single people like us have nothing else to do apart from working.”

Cindy really had nothing to add to his words. It was obvious that he was still busy, so she didn’t talk to him for long. After they pulled each other’s legs for a bit more and her asking about his recent wellbeing, she hung up and kept her phone away.

Then, she turned around to look at the door, unsure whether Ian was still seated at the couch.

She had nothing else to do in the room, but to face him outside...

Forget it, I better stay inside the room.

After another hour had passed, Naomi finally called to inform that she had just left the hotel and was on her way to Cindy’s place.

Cindy then calculated the right amount of time she needed to prepare dinner. By the time she went out, Ian was no longer on the couch.

Now that she thought about it, she turned around to walk to his room and knocked on the door to remind him to call Aurora to check whether Aurora was already awake or not.

After all, she had quite a lot to drink earlier in the afternoon. Judging from both Aurora and Ian’s characters, Cindy wondered how long Aurora would be asleep for.

Ian, who was inside his room, merely replied, “Okay, I got it.”

Then, Cindy turned to return to the kitchen. Just as she was about to cook some vegetables, he opened the door to walk out of his room.

He shot a glance at her after he slowly wobbled to the door. “You don’t have to cook too much. Just make enough food for us. It’s a waste if we aren’t able to finish it.”

She hummed in agreement. “There are some leftovers from lunch, so another two more dishes would be enough. I don’t want to cook so little that it’s not enough for us.”

With his arms crossed in front of him, Ian leaned against the door frame. “I’m joining the filming crew next month, so you don’t have to follow me. Just stay at home.”

Upon hearing that, she blinked and stopped cooking.

He thought the news had rendered her uncomfortable.

However, when she turned to look at him, she asked, “In this case, are you still paying me?”

What a smart girl. It’s me who overthinks this.

Ian smiled. “Don’t worry, I won’t give you any less. After all, you are still holding onto my weakness.”

Cindy pretended to think about it and she nodded solemnly. “That’s right. I still have the evidence in my hand. How did I forget about it? Based on that alone, how much do you think I can ask from you?”

It was something that piqued Ian’s interest. “How much do you want?”

She pouted. “Tell me how much your net worth is first.”

He chuckled. “You are quite greedy, huh? You want to take everything and don’t intend on planning to cut me some slack?”

Cindy snorted lightly. “Who would think that too much money is bad? I can’t wait to squeeze everything out of you.”

It would be fine if her thoughts didn’t run wild after she said that, but once she thought about it, her words sounded slightly sexual.

In the end, she did think in that direction. As a result, she quickly shut her mouth and looked at the pot intently.

It seemed that Ian didn’t think too much into it. There was no change in his facial expression as he said, “The saying is correct, after all—women are the most evil creatures.”

The tense atmosphere eased up quite a lot after she joked with him.

At the very least, Cindy did not feel awkward anymore.
