Chapter 1569 Cindy’s Actual Feelings

Cindy’s cell phone was placed on the kitchen countertop. While she was making a stir-fry, she saw from the corner of her eye that her phone’s screen flashed, so she went over and tapped on it.

It was a text message from Hazel. She had seen the news reports on the internet, which was rare. Hazel seemed very worried; not only did she ask Cindy if the rumors on the internet were true, but she even asked the latter if she had been wronged.

Cindy stared at the text message for a long time, but she didn’t reply to it in the end. She didn’t know whether Hazel really cared for her or if it was all for show. After all, Cindy’s past experience told her that Hazel would always ask her for money right after acting nice to her. In other words, Hazel’s kindness to her had always come with a purpose. She didn’t take it too seriously the first or second time. But as it happened over and over again, she couldn’t stand it anymore. Now, she was averse to it and found it annoying.

Cindy deleted the text message and continued to prepare lunch. While she was cooking, she threw a glance at the living room. Both Ian and Aurora had stopped talking.

Aurora still seemed somewhat fretful, whereas Ian was looking at his cell phone. Aurora was different from when Cindy first saw her. At first, she seemed like an imposing middle-aged woman with an air of indifference. But now, she looked just like an ordinary mother. When she ran into problems, she would be upset, feel irritable, and break down.

When she finished making the stir-fry, Cindy hurriedly brought the dishes to the dining table. “Lunch is

ready. Let’s eat.”

However, Aurora still had no appetite for food at all. She felt something on her chest, something so unpleasant that her belly felt bloated.

Cindy went over and dragged her up. “One has to eat no matter what the circumstance. Whatever the problem is, it’ll eventually be a thing of the past. There’s nothing in this world that can’t be solved. It’s just that the result might be a bit worse than we thought. But when you really think about it, no matter what kind of result it is, it’ll turn out fine.”

Aurora looked up at Cindy for a long time. Then, she replied, “I really admire your positive outlook. You’re just like Ian. No wonder you two got together. They say that like attracts like. That’s exactly the case with you two.”

Cindy merely smiled without looking at Ian. “There’s no point thinking too hard about something that you can’t figure out. The best thing we can do is to adjust our state of mind.”

After listening to Cindy’s words of advice, Aurora got up and went to the dining table with her. Ian’s cell phone happened to ring at the time, so he turned around and went back to his room to answer the phone.

Instead of waiting for him, Cindy and Aurora started eating first. Seeing that Ian wasn’t around, Aurora lowered her voice and said, “Just tell me the truth, Cindy. Do you mind what’s said on the internet? I mean the meeting between Ian and Yulia.”

Cindy was puzzled. “The meeting? Why should I mind that? Weren’t they discussing work as people normally do? How immature I must be to mind them discussing work.”

Aurora smacked her lips. She’d been around for some time now. After going through all kinds of trials and tribulations in society for so many years, nothing could escape her eyes. Although Yulia handled her advances very well during their meeting yesterday, Aurora could tell that she did have some other feelings for Ian. However, she did a good job of concealing it, for Aurora couldn’t tell how much she liked Ian and whether she only had a favorable impression of Ian or really had her eyes on him.

Cindy ate with her head down as she replied, “I’ve met Miss Yulia. She’s quite standoffish. In this regard, she’s a bit like Ian.” Then, she said as if joking, “You said before that like attracts like. Could there be something fishy between Yulia and Ian?” She was purely joking. After finishing her sentence, she even glanced up at Aurora in a somewhat witty manner.

Aurora smiled as she hurriedly replied, “That’s impossible. I know my own son. When Ian and I met Yulia that day, he talked to her in a completely businesslike tone. Besides…” She turned to look at Ian’s room before lowering her voice again. “I couldn’t help feeling that he was a little impatient while talking to Yulia. Whether or not Yulia noticed that, I’m not sure. But I certainly did.”
