Chapter 1603

Chapter 1603 Is Cindy Back?

However, he felt like something was missing. Despite that, he couldn’t tell what it was even after thinking about it for a long while. Eventually, he got out of bed and shuffled toward his bathroom. At that moment, he froze when he heard the sound of someone cooking in the kitchen. He knew that it was his mother cooking downstairs, yet for a brief moment, he thought that Cindy had come back.

Ian took a deep breath. A sense of frustration spread across his chest, and he couldn’t stop himself from slamming his bathroom door once he walked in. All sorts of disruptive thoughts filled his mind as he brushed his teeth and washed his face. For example, he recalled how it felt when Cindy rested in his arms after she had too much to drink. Her gentle movements and her soft skin… His mind had gone blank when he saw her that way.

After that, he recalled how he had lost all control and kissed Cindy in a blaze of passion. Her lips were even softer than her skin, and all he heard was a loud ringing in his ears when he kissed her—he couldn’t think of anything else at that moment.

He couldn’t seem to regulate his emotions after recalling these memories. In an attempt to clear his head, he used some iced-cold water to wash his face before getting changed and stepping out of his room. It was indeed his mother who was cooking in the kitchen, and food was ready by the time he went down.

“Come and eat! I’m done cooking,” Aurora said as she turned around to look at Ian. Ian had no appetite at all. However, since he had barely eaten anything the day before, he felt like it wouldn’t make sense if he said that he wasn’t hungry. Aurora continued talking while he walked toward the dining table.

“Cindy’s home. She gave me a call yesterday, and she said that she was really tired after she got home. It seems like all the traveling took a toll on her.”

Ian’s movements came to a halt, and he pursed his lips together for a long while before he spoke. “Did she say when she would come back?”

Aurora stole a glance at Ian’s expression while she tried her best to maintain a flat tone. “I asked her the same question, but she said that she doesn’t have any plans yet. She said that it would depend on how long you took to handle your matters. I guess she’ll come back once everything is dealt with and once you can proceed with your filming again.”

Ian sat down at the dining table, and he didn’t make any further comments. Aurora continued speaking as she brought him some tableware. “You told me that you were planning to go on a holiday, right? Where are you planning to go?”

He knew what his mother was about to say, so he lowered his gaze before speaking in a neutral tone. “I’ve made plans with Logan. I’ll be going over for a reunion with them.”

Aurora nodded briefly before she questioned him again. “You have a lot of time on your hands now. You can probably stay for a long time if you went to meet Logan and the rest, right?”

Ian wasn’t sure about his own plans, so he mumbled a general response. “We’ll see how it goes.” Both of them were quiet after that. Ian didn’t have much of an appetite, and he had to force himself in order to finish the amount of food he usually had for breakfast.

After his meal, Ian’s phone began to ring. He picked his phone up and strode to his room immediately. It was a call from Hannah to talk about matters related to the news articles on the Internet.

“The endless amount of gossip and the increasingly ridiculous articles on the Internet are starting to elicit an opposite reaction from the netizens. The company hasn’t made an official response so far, but the public’s attitude toward you seems to be changing for the better,” she explained in a rather cheerful tone. “We intended to release some of the news that we have today, but we’ve decided to wait a little longer after seeing the responses online.”

Ian didn’t care much about such matters. “Mhm. You can make the decisions on your own. Just do whatever you think is the best. I don’t know much about this, but I trust your judgment.”

His words made Hannah feel comforted. She let out a sigh before shifting the topic to talk about Cindy. “Cindy told me that she’s back home. The poor girl’s innocent, yet she got herself dragged into this. I’ll buy both of you a meal someday.”

He only responded after some hesitation. “We’ll talk about this when she’s back. We don’t know how long it’ll take for things to die down, and she wishes to come back only after everything has blown over, perhaps because her family is rather worried about her. Let’s just see how it goes.”
