Chapter 1709 Planning to Relinquish Your Responsibility?
Right now, if there was a hole in front of them, Cindy would have jumped into it without any hesitation. She wished so hard for the ground to swallow her up at this instance.
Time seemed to come to a standstill for quite a few seconds before she finally regained her senses.
Then, she hastily shifted her body to the other side and created some distance between her and Ian.
At this point, there was nothing else that could be said and words would sound quite feeble in comparison to their actions. Any words spoken would merely sound like an excuse. As such, she chose to keep her silence.
She turned toward the side of the bed and wriggled against the sheets. Most importantly, she had moved her upper torso away from his reach.
Meanwhile, Ian was indeed quite stunned by her actions as he hadn’t expected her to turn her head. Earlier, he had lowered his voice so he had tried to inch as close to her ear as possible. However, unexpectedly, she had suddenly offered a kiss. Surprisingly, he didn’t reject her out of his first instinct and neither was he disgusted by that. On the contrary, he had secretly felt quite pleased. Just then, he licked his lips stealthily and voiced out, “Was that intentional?”
Cindy had intended to keep her mouth shut and turn the page on this incident but at that moment, she thought to herself, Listen to what he’s saying! He’s being so rude!
She replied in a muffled voice, “What sort of rubbish do you have going on in your mind?!”
Meanwhile, perhaps Ian was emboldened by the darkness, so he brazenly inched closer to Cindy once again and asked, “Are you planning to relinquish your responsibility?”
Just then, Cindy felt as if she had heard the biggest joke ever. “You’re behaving quite abnormally today.”
He obviously isn’t someone who needs the other party to take responsibility after a kiss! If he is, then his fans would have a field day if they knew this! Surely everyone would clamor around to lay kisses on him!
Meanwhile, he put on a good show and showed his disappointment by heaving a sigh. “You’re so heartless.”
As for Cindy, she had made up her mind not to say another word. He was indeed behaving quite oddly today and he didn’t seem to be doing things according to his usual manner, so she was quite confused by this. Forget about it! I should just avoid him if I can’t handle him.
Ian held Cindy quite firmly around the waist but she managed to struggle forcefully and turn in the other direction. With her back facing him, she said, “I don’t want to talk to you anymore. You’re not being yourself today. Just go to sleep. Perhaps you’ll be back to normal as soon as you wake up tomorrow.”
Meanwhile, Ian gave a muffled laugh. I knew that she would react like this!
He inched closer and he took her into his arms with the comforter still wrapped around her. “Do you plan to run away after taking advantage of me?! You’re indeed one of a kind!”
However, Cindy remained silent so he had no choice but to stop after that single lamenting sentence.
The two of them remained in an embrace. Truth be told, though Cindy was unaware of Ian’s thoughts, she felt quite stifled and uncomfortable in that position.
However, she couldn’t quite bring herself to voice out her actual thoughts. If I voice it out, surely he’s going to say something unpleasant again. In the end, she decided that she would rather tolerate the stifling hot condition.
In a semi-conscious state, she managed to fall asleep too and she didn’t even realize when he released his grip on her, or perhaps she had felt too uncomfortable and finally struggled out of his grasp. In the end though, she managed to sleep soundly until the middle of the night, when she suddenly woke up for no specific reason. She was merely jolted awake all of a sudden.
Cindy turned around to look at the spot next to her, but Ian was not in bed.
Slightly surprised, she glanced toward the window but she didn’t see anyone there either. Turned out that he wasn’t in the room.
She sat up slowly in bed. Then, after some hesitation, she got out of bed. Without putting on her bedroom slippers, she walked to the entrance before gently opening the door.
He was currently seated on the couch with the TV switched on but there was not a single sound from it. The flickering lights from the TV lit up his figure sitting there.
However, his eyes were not on the TV and he had his head down as he looked at his cell phone.
There seemed to be something interesting on his phone and he took some time to tap out his message as he kept his head lowered. He seemed to be texting someone at the moment.
Who is he secretly texting in the middle of the night? He’s chosen to give up his sleep and even crept out of the room to do this too! Cindy considered the situation for a short while and just then, the first person that came to her mind was Yulia.
Cindy was aware that Ian remained in contact with Yulia all this while. Yulia did have some feelings toward Ian so she tended to call him at night. As such, besides Yulia, there was no one else that came to Cindy’s mind.
