Chapter 1773 The Call Ends

That’s why the butler’s used to it.

Aurora didn’t want to talk to Leah anymore after that, since she didn’t care how Leah was faring. When she first saw Leah looking so injured, she thought Bryce went a bit too far, but after hearing what Leah did to Ian, she thought the woman deserved it. At least Bryce did something right for once. No matter what the reason is, at least he avenged Ian, though it is of little solace now.

Leah was quiet for a moment, then she turned to the screen once more. “I don’t think I can get anything from him. Ian should be getting a lot, so are you happy now? Goes to show you should never burn your bridges. Now that you know I’m—”

Aurora ended the call at that point. She could guess what Leah was going to say. Given her condition, she wouldn’t talk about anything unnecessary, so she was probably trying to ask Aurora for help. She might want Aurora to call someone, or even the cops. She thinks I should do her a favor just because she answered my question? How shameless.

Cindy stood up after Aurora ended the call. “I’ll be taking my phone back now.” After she left the café and was sure that Aurora couldn’t see her, she stopped and stood before a wall as she took a few deep breaths.

Aurora felt uneasy after hearing what Leah did, and Cindy shared her sentiment. Leah only told them some vague things, but she could imagine how bad Ian must have been treated back then. He must have felt so helpless. His father was useless, and his stepmother bullied him all the time. Sally and

Simon probably did the same thing their mother did. Cindy couldn’t imagine how awful it must have been for Ian.

She stood outside for a while to calm herself down before walking toward the residence. When she arrived, the butler was already waiting outside with the phone in his hand.

The butler knew who she was, so he was clearly following the recent news as well. He was friendly to her, and when he gave her the phone back, he even asked her if Ian would come back to visit.

Cindy paused for a moment, then she looked at him. “Do you want to see him?”

The butler sighed. “I watched him grow up. He had it bad, but he turned out really fine.”

Cindy felt a bit better after hearing that. Since the butler was nice to Ian, then he must have shown Ian kindness when no one was looking.

Cindy smiled at the butler. “I’ll tell him once I get back. He might come over if he’s free.”

The butler waved his hand. “It’s fine. He doesn’t have to go out of his way to see me. If he wants to come back, he’s always welcome. I can see him then. It’s been a long time since I saw him, and I’m starting to miss him.”

Cindy nodded. “I see. I’ll tell him about this.” Cindy took her phone and went back to the café.

Aurora was staring outside the window, crossing her arms. She was obviously spacing out, and her eyes were red. Obviously, she must have cried when Cindy was gone.

Cindy knew she was upset, but perhaps she was also blaming herself for and regretted what she did. Cindy went over and sat down, then she sighed. “Now that we found out what we wanted to know, I think it’s time to go home.”

Aurora pulled out a tissue and blew her nose before she turned around. “Do I look fine? I’m not looking weird, right?” She knew she was looking weird. Even though she was better than how she looked when she got back from the hospital that day, it wasn’t better by much.
