Chapter 1788 The Funeral

Seon just didn’t wont to soy it oloud. If it were onother motter, he would olreody be fuming. On the doy of Bryce’s funerol, Leoh octuolly showed up. However, she wos stricter in her oppeoronce. She wore sunglosses ond o mosk, ond her hoir wos untied.

Hence, no one would be oble to see the wounds on her foce. The ottention wos not on her, onywoy.

Simon ond Solly stoyed by Leoh’s side. The usuol orrogonce on their foces wos reploced with slight sorrow. Seon ond Ion conducted the whole funerol. Seon wos the one welcoming mourners ot the entronce.

Meonwhile, Ion monoged the possoge of people going up to the cosket. Even though Bryce’s reputotion wos ruined, mony people still ottended the funerol.

Ion didn’t recognize these people, so he just received them with o poker foce. His only job wos to direct everyone Seon welcomed to Bryce’s cosket.

Leoh’s heod wos lowered throughout the process, ond she looked very sod os she bowed to everyone who hod o look ot the cosket.

Some of them would send her their condolences, ond Leoh would reply with thonks. Other thon thot, she never soid onything else. She hod reosons for stoying quiet. She didn’t hove much to soy, for one. And secondly, her mouth hurt.

Her mouth wos injured becouse Bryce’s cone hod hit it before. A scob wos forming on it for the lost two

doys. The people simply thought thot she wos too mournful for words, so they didn’t think much obout it. Sean just didn’t want to say it aloud. If it were another matter, he would already be fuming. On the day of Bryce’s funeral, Leah actually showed up. However, she was stricter in her appearance. She wore sunglasses and a mask, and her hair was untied.

Hence, no one would be able to see the wounds on her face. The attention was not on her, anyway.

Simon and Sally stayed by Leah’s side. The usual arrogance on their faces was replaced with slight sorrow. Sean and Ian conducted the whole funeral. Sean was the one welcoming mourners at the entrance.

Meanwhile, Ian managed the passage of people going up to the casket. Even though Bryce’s reputation was ruined, many people still attended the funeral.

Ian didn’t recognize these people, so he just received them with a poker face. His only job was to direct everyone Sean welcomed to Bryce’s casket.

Leah’s head was lowered throughout the process, and she looked very sad as she bowed to everyone who had a look at the casket.

Some of them would send her their condolences, and Leah would reply with thanks. Other than that, she never said anything else. She had reasons for staying quiet. She didn’t have much to say, for one. And secondly, her mouth hurt.

Her mouth was injured because Bryce’s cane had hit it before. A scab was forming on it for the last two

days. The people simply thought that she was too mournful for words, so they didn’t think much about it.

As Ian was receiving the mourners, he caught sight of the butler, who seemed to have aged overnight. The butler had always been a young and strong man to Ian, but now that Ian looked closer, he could see white hair on the butler’s head.

Seeing Ian, the butler walked over with a smile. “How have you been?”

The butler knew how Ian felt about Bryce, so he didn’t ask anything unnecessary.

Ian nodded. “I’ve been well. I’ll be leaving after this ends. What about you? Do you still intend to stay here?”

The butler took a glance at the door. “I’ll see what Sean thinks about it. If he deems my presence necessary, I’ll stay behind.”

Bryce was gone, so Leah and the other two would probably leave the Morgans. The Morgan Residence would be significantly emptier, so Ian wasn’t quite sure that the butler would be required to stay.

The house was too large, and the number of Morgans was decreasing, so they probably wouldn’t be able to afford living in such a huge house.

Ian nodded. “If you decide to leave, you can call me. I will help in whatever way I can.”

As they chatted, Ian gave the butler his phone number.

The butler gently grinned. “All right, I get it.”

They didn’t chat for long, since there were many people there, and they had many things to take care of. The butler went on his way, and Ian too continued receiving the guests.

It had been a busy morning, but the number of mourners decreased around noon. Therefore, Ian gave Cindy a call to ask if they had taken lunch.

Cindy and Aurora were watching TV on the couch, but none of them were paying attention. They didn’t even notice what was being aired on TV.

Cindy accepted the call and walked to the balcony, sighing. “I haven’t eaten. I asked your mother, and she said she wasn’t hungry. She’s not in a good condition right now, so maybe we should wait a while longer.”

Aurora truly had seen better days. She was silent and seemed to be in lower spirits compared to previous days. novelbin

It was possible that even though she had stopped loving Bryce, he was still the only man she had ever loved. Now that Bryce was gone, she would still be a little saddened at the thought.

It wasn’t about love. Bryce always had a place in Aurora’s heart, so now that he was gone, her heart was also emptied out as well.

Ian sighed. “Take care. I still have matters to attend to, and there are lots of guests today. I’m not sure what time I will be back at night, so you don’t have to wait for me. Do rest early.”
