Chapter 2013 Get In

Cindy wanted to go to the hospital to spend time with Ian after she was done with work. Mary thought about it for a while before she nodded. "That's true, I guess."

So, Cindy put on an apologetic look. "I'm sorry. Hopefully, we'll have another chance for this in the future."

Mary no longer pestered her and simply nodded. "Okay. We'll ask you again when you're a little less busy." After chatting for a while more, Mary went out of the office. The people around Cindy began to exchange looks after Mary left.

Previously, they thought that Cindy was a little too stuck up. She doesn't have to be so distant and cold toward everyone in the company even though she has Mr. Kaufmann to back her up, right? She puts on that icy look on her face even when we're nice to her. Most of Cindy's colleagues thought Cindy's standards were too high. She never mixes around with regular staff. Perhaps she's trying to mingle only with the higher-ups.

However, once they saw that she had rejected the dinner with department managers, they realized that she wasn't looking to build relationships at all. She's not interested in anyone at all, is she?

All of Cindy's colleagues wore looks of astonishment on their faces. She had rejected the invitation because she wanted to spend time with Ian. Being the simple person she was, she wasn't aware of how her colleagues were analyzing and judging her. After Mary left, Cindy completely forgot about the invitation, and she focused on putting the design in her mind onto paper. However, her emotions were

all over the place today, so she often found herself distracted while drawing.

She was thinking about Ian. When she was about to leave the hospital earlier, Valerie Lancaster, the girl working with Ian for his latest film, came over with fresh flowers for Ian. Cindy was in a rush to leave, so she only greeted Valerie before excusing herself. When Cindy stepped out of the room, she turned around to catch Valerie flashing a gorgeous smile at Ian.

Cindy wasn't jealous—she simply thought that there was something odd about Valerie's smile. It looked almost like they were more than friends. Cindy didn't know if she was overthinking it, but she couldn't shake off the odd feeling in her.

Cindy stayed in her seat throughout the afternoon, and she only completed her draft by the end of the day. Once she was done, she stretched her limbs and looked around. It was then that she caught someone standing outside the office and staring at her.

She had seen the person before—it was the lady who had been talking to Mary earlier. Cindy didn't know who this person was. She wasn't dressed like an apprentice, and her picture wasn't on the board where all the company's designers were listed. So, Cindy figured that she wasn't a designer.

When Cindy looked directly into the lady's eyes, the lady stared back for a few seconds before leaving. Cindy found this rather interesting. Did this person purposely come over to see me just because she's curious about me? It doesn't feel like that's the case. She wouldn't come all the way just to see me, right? I'm just in a rather odd situation because everyone here has different opinions toward me.

Cindy stopped thinking about this matter as she couldn't seem to reach a conclusion. Once it was time to get off work, she packed up and left the office. When she walked out, she noticed a familiar-looking car. The car was parked by the side of the road opposite the company, and Cindy saw the person

inside as the window was down.

It was Gary, and he was looking directly at her. She froze for a moment before running over to him. "Mr. Frye."

"Do you want to have a meal with me?" he asked.

She eyed him apologetically. "I'm afraid I can't do that. Ian's injured, so I have to go to visit him in the hospital."

"He's injured?" Gary frowned.

She nodded. "This is confidential—I just found out about it as well."

"Well," Gary uttered after a slight pause. "Get in. I'll send you there."

Cindy bit her lip and hesitated for a while before she got in his car. Gary asked for the hospital Ian was staying in before he drove toward their destination. Along the way, Cindy felt rather awkward as she could sense that Gary was still rather unhappy. Everyone has their own opinions, right? I don't think Ian did anything wrong.
