‘She’s definitely here,’ Kai said as he picked up the ring. She had to be
here since this thirty-million-dollar ring was not something that she
would lose so easily.
Ignoring the dangers of the fire, Kai searched for equipment in the fire. He tried to open the cabinet to the fire hose reel and attempted to extinguish the fire. At the same time, Kai heard some noise from the emergency exit. When he went to open it, the door was locked.
However, it was not the time to investigate it. Fortunately, Kai arrived
early by a few minutes. The fire would have been unstoppable if he
were a few minutes late.
‘Madelyn was definitely locked on this floor. Or else, these bastards
wouldn’t have gone to such great lengths to trick Madelyn and set
this fire on her,’ Kai thought.
While the fire was slowly being extinguished, Kai covered his nose
and searched every room on that floor. By the time the firemen
arrived, Kai had inhaled too much carbon dioxide and his body was struggling to move, but he pushed through anyway and continued to
search for Madelyn.
‘I won’t let you be hurt. I promised Ms. Wood that I’d take care of you. I’ve been hurting you all this time. I’ll keep you safe this time, even if it costs my life,’ Kai promised himself.
In the end, Kai passed out in the elevator. Fortunately, the fire did not spread to him. The firemen rushed in from the emergency exit and put a respiratory mask on Kai before pulling him out.
“Captain, there’s someone in the elevator!” One of the firemen cried
out.
Madelyn woke up from her coma and tried to knock on the elevator door with her remaining strength. The elevator door was opened in a
few minutes, and they found the unconscious Madelyn.
After Zach got the news, he left Eternal Seasons without any
hesitation. Cecilia pulled him back and said, “Zach, you need to think
this through. I’ve tried my best to find Mr. Steven. If you leave now,
the development project will become someone else’s.”
Zach flung Cecilia’s arm away. He did not hesitate to accept the call
and left.
Mr. Steven came over and asked, “Ms. Samford, did something urgent
happen?”
Cecilia sipped her tea and smiled, “It’s a sudden emergency, so
unfortunately Mr. Jardin needs to leave for a while. However, I believe
him coming here shows you our sincerity. How about this, Mr.
Steven? I will represent the Jardin Corporation as its Deputy CEO to
sign this contract. Either way, it wouldn’t affect our collaboration.”
“Uh,” Mr. Steven hesitated before saying, “Since Mr. Jardin had to
leave, I think we should postpone our meeting until next time. I’m sure
we’ll have more opportunities to work with the Jardin Corporation . I believe in Jardin Corporation’s ability to bring profit to my company.
We can discuss the details of the contract when we have time.”
Cecilia chuckled and replied, “If that’s the case, naturally, we’ll comply
with your wishes. I look forward to our next collaboration.”
After Mr. Steven left with his secretary, Cecilia’s expression fell. She flung her teacup and smashed it to bits.
I’ve helped you distract Zach long enough, Yvonne. Don’t let me down,
She muttered under her breath.
Kevin drove as fast as he could to the hospital. On the other hand, the
firemen had put out the fire as soon as possible. There had been no
casualties since the hospital was well-equipped to combat fires,
which prevented the fire from spreading to other floors.
Madelyn and Kai were both sent to the operating room for emergency
surgery.
