The Rewritten Love: A Second Beginning by Max Charming Chapter 737

Every time Kevin showed up, Madelyn felt uneasy, worried about what Zach might be up to. After giving Madelyn her medicine, Zach assisted her with her clothes. “I’ll be back in a flash,” he said.

He threw the used cotton swab in the trash and then poured some water into a cup, placing it on the nightstand. Once he had settled things in the room, he made his way out. As he did, Kevin handed him a package.

Kevin said, “On my way over, Ms. Samford came by the Young residence. She said you wanted her to hand- deliver the deed of the Arnold residence to you.”

Zach examined the item Kevin gave him, nodding in approval. “Good job. Once we finish up here, I want you to take a three-week vacation. However, I’ve got one last task for you first.”

“What’s our plan?”

A determined glint appeared in Zach’s eyes. “Within two days, I want everyone out of the Arnold residence,” he instructed. “Then, I’m taking over.”

“You got it.”

Zach stepped into the room, finding Madelyn lying on the bed, her eyes shut but clearly not asleep. He sensed she was avoiding him. Her moods never bothered him; he always felt he knew just how to console her. No one, he believed, knew Madelyn as he did. He took her hand, his expression softening as his fingers gently brushed against hers.

“You still upset with me, Madelyn?” he asked. “Look, I had my reasons. Giovanna? She’s tied to the Youngs. Frida controlled most of Jardin Corporation’s shares and had eyes everywhere in our business. You know I can’t stand betrayals.”

Madelyn thought, ‘Giovanna is with Frida? I didn’t know. But Zach shouldn’t have threatened her.’

“Madelyn, you’re too trusting,” Zach said. “You let Giovanna go with the child, even giving her your savings. She was going to abandon the kid at an orphanage. If I hadn’t stepped in, who knows where the child would’ve ended up? I just didn’t want to see you hurt.”

Madelyn locked eyes with Zach. “After everything your crew put me through, you claim you didn’t want to hurt me? Giovanna might not be innocent, but Ethan? He only tried to help me escape. What was his reward? If not for me, he’d be seriously hurt or worse.” She touched the marks on her skin, silent testimonies to Zach’s deeds. “Enough with the tricks, Zach,” her eyes shimmered with disdain.

Zach was a master of deception; he tricked Madelyn into handing over Hayson’s will to him in their past lives. His eyes briefly darkened, yet his face remained unreadable with a hint of a smirk. “If you take the medicine, Ethan will be free.”

“Really? Do you promise?”

“When have I ever lied to you?” Zach said, running his fingers through her sleek black hair.

With Ethan no longer serving any purpose to Zach, keeping him at the Jent residence seemed unnecessary. A defeated man like Ethan was no threat to Zach, past or present.
