Chapter 100 How dare these scoundrels!
Lexi was instantly dumbfounded when she heard Arnold Shen's last statement.
'I got the role? That fast? Just… how??' For a moment, she could not find the right emotion to feel and words to say as she stared at Arnold Shen's smiling countenance like a fool.
"Come on," Arnold Shen was satisfied to see her mixed expression of delight and confusion. What he sees before him was the exact expression he needed for Chang'e -- a natural beauty of a goddess that descended in modern times.
Lexi heedlessly followed behind Arnold Shen not knowing where he was leading her. As they walked, Arnold Shen explained why he decided to give her the role without screening her.
"You know, I have seen the first batch of auditionee for Chang'e and none of them passed the standard I am looking for. After all, this role is important to me and to the whole plot of the movie -- that is why, besides choosing the right person for the main casts, my dilemma was to pick the artist for fits the lunar deity. Luckily, for some reason, my feet drag me on the back door entrance of the establishment for light and saw you." Arnold Shen chuckled by his luck. He doesn't know it himself but for some reason, he decided to wander and ended up on the back entrance of the establishment where he saw Lexi. He resumed,
"You know, I had been watching you since the moment you entered and I find it really silly for a person like you to act strange… which is also the reason why I wanted to offer you the role. But, you already aiming for it. Haha! What a coincidence!" Recalling how odd Lexi naturally acted earlier while being ignorant of her surroundings despite her beautiful image.
Since the role of Chang'e was a deity that descended to a modern-day. Like a newborn kid, she would attempt to know the world that had a drastic changed after thousands of years after she ascended to the moon. Hence, the character of being a little strange was one of her characteristics.
Just then, Arnold Shen was abruptly interrupted as his phone rang. Groping on his pocket, he turned to Lexi who was beyond surprised by his explanation of why he chose her. Meekly smiling at her, he excused himself as he needed to pick up the call.
"You can continue on the way of where the audition was going -- I'll meet you there alright, Miss Yang?"
Lexi slightly bowed her head in agreement, before Arnold Shen went on his way to answer the seemingly important role.
"Uh, sissy?" Still holding Churu the same way she had been holding ever since Lexi murmured.
"Congrats chu~" Slightly recovering from her fatigue, Churu congratulated Lexi with a thumbs up. This time, the little dumpling wanted to fly around and dance in glee for her abrupt acceptance of getting the role she eagerly practiced when they were alone. Sadly, with her current state, Churu could not hence, she could only give her a thumbs up.
"That's… weird." Lexi murmured as she resumed her strides towards the area where she was initially heading for the audition.
---
When Lexi appeared in the said area, Abigail was walking back and forth while holding her phone with an anxious expression. The moment Abigail Fan saw Lexi's familiar figure on the side of her eyes, she instantly looked on her way and her face lit up.
"Lexi! Thank God you've come!" Abigail Fan heaved a sigh of relieved. She thought that Lexi backed out and wouldn't audition for the side character role. She added,
"The audition for Chang'e's role was about to start -- I thought you changed your mind." Abigail Fan smiled in satisfaction, however, as her eyes traveled on Lexi's odd stance, her brows knitted.
On the other hand, Lexi arched her brows as she already knew what was Abigail Fan was about to ask as she herself would ask the same if she didn't know the reason why. After all, she couldn't think of any better place to put the magical dumpling as she was worried that Churu might get suffocated if she placed her in her purse.
"Don't ask, pretend that you don't see anything." Lexi flatly warned.
Just then, the familiar voice of the ever-annoying Che Diayu was heard from behind Abigail Fan which made Lexi's brows twitched.
'My my, what good luck.' Lexi murmured inwardly the moment she heard Che Diayu's voice. She already prepared herself to meet the familiar faces of her former 'friends' but, deep down, Lexi hoped that she wouldn't have to deal with Che Diayu.
"Lexi? Lexi Yang?! Did you come to audition for Chang'e's role as well? What a coincidence!" Che Diayu's voice sounded glad however, Lexi clearly detected the sarcasm in her voice. She added,
"Though, I am surprised that despite your ongoing scandals, you'll still try your luck here." Chuckling with a gaze of mockery, Che Diayu audaciously displayed her insults to Lexi. Behind her, were Che Diayu's lackeys that giggled with her. With Che Diayu's unreserved voice, they somehow gathered the attention of other artists from the corner and turned their heads on the end of the corridor.
The moment they saw Lexi's presence, murmurs on the tainted girl that instantly rose to fame months ago then crashed from stardom with countless scandals that ruined her career. Hence, murmurs from each of everyone began to resonate.
"What? The has been trying her luck again?"
"I bet she wanted to drag the last movie of Director Shen with her."
"I doubt that Director Arnold Shen would even bat an eye when he sees her."
"Huh, the ambitious drama queen was now auditioning for a side character's role? Pfft--!"
Upon hearing these insults -- Churu who was draining of life earlier rose from her rest to save the day as steam started to emit from her as if her fatigue instantly vanished.
"HOW DARE THESE SCOUNDRELS CHU!"
