Chapter 134 Tell him to wai

The Yang parents and Ethan Lu still proceeded to have a peaceful dinner. Of course, through the course of their meal, they mostly talked about Lexi and her happy childhood days while Ethan Lu attentively listened with great interest.

After he showed his resolve towards Lexi, her parents welcomed him as their daughter's suitor. Although they treated him the same as before, this time, it was as if another thin wall had broken down that made them informed him about Lexi's favorites, hobbies, and things she likes.

When the dinner ended, Frederick Yang had to excused himself to tend to some business affairs that he brought home. On the other hand, Lillian Yang accompanied Ethan Lu for quite some time before he finally asked for permission to leave.

Lillian Yang followed Ethan Lu up to his shiny black car with a soft smile on her lips as she watched Ethan Lu secured the pack snacks she prepared for him to eat at his place.

After making sure that the snacks were secured on the back seat, Ethan Lu turned his head back to Lexi's mother who was smiling gently as usual. Smiling brightly that showed his even teeth, Ethan Lu politely bowed his head.

"Auntie, thank you for everything."

"Ethan, you're most welcome." Lillian Yang tenderly responded. After she let out a delicate exhaled, she spoke again; "Ethan, about Lexi…"

Ethan Lu marginally raised his brows as he anticipated what Mother Yang was about to say. Granting that he had a heart to heart talk with Frederick Yang, however, Lillian Yang acted like she had nothing to say regarding the matter; which Ethan Lu doubted. After all, she was a mother.

"I know your Uncle Fred probably said most of the things I wanted to say to you. But, I want to let you know one thing. You see, my dear daughter wasn't used to… this, having suitors. She was a very faithful woman that she was purposely distancing herself with men, afraid that Morris Liu might misunderstand her… until it became her habit." Lillian Yang meekly smiled as she fixed her gaze towards Ethan Lu. She continued after she gulped,

"I am surprised when she went home with you that night. She was panicking -- it was my first time to see her have such reaction again. And after that, although I was a little worried about the two of you, after knowing you a little well, I didn't mind whatever gender my daughter's friend as long as she had someone to trust... because, she also had a habit of keeping us in the dark."

"What I'm saying is, the weight for aiming for her love wasn't easy… it has a heavy responsibility. I know you made your resolve but I am begging you, Ethan. I know I can't offer you anything, but as a mother, I am asking you to continue being her friend." Unlike Frederick Yang, she was expressive because it was evidently that she was on the verge of crying. Her eyes were slowly being filled with tears that any moment, her cheeks would be stained by it.

Seeing this, Ethan Lu unhurriedly took steps forward. Reaching for the motherly hands of Lillian Yang, he placed his other hand on top of hers. He raised his gaze as he smiled in reassurance before he sincerely uttered, "I promise, Auntie."

Lillian Yang smiled in satisfaction as a drop of tears fell from her eyes. Ethan Lu tapped her hand as if to console the worried mother without a word. They stayed like that for a minute before Lillian Yang insisted that she was fine and sent him off.

----

As Ethan Lu maneuvered his car, he placed a wireless Bluetooth headset on his ear and speed-dialed his assistant, Lyrick Jiang's contact number. The line was immediately picked up even before the first ring ended,

"Young Master, you still have your last meeting with CEO Morris Liu for the day at 9 pm, Eleven Lounge Bar." Lyrick Jiang didn't go in circles as he reminded his boss about his last appointment for the day.

Glancing at his car's dashboard, Ethan Lu checked the time and saw it was 8:30 in the evening. He only had thirty minutes to reach the said meeting place. However, even if Ethan Lu accelerate his speed, he would still be late for least 5 minutes max.

Knowing Morris Liu, he hated waiting. If Ethan Lu didn't arrive at the said time, Morris Liu would certainly push back their next meeting months later; which Ethan Lu didn't want to happen. He had been keeping this rage inside his heart since earlier.

If it wasn't for the fact that he was with Lexi's parents, Ethan Lu would have thrown a huge fit and the most anticipating appointment he was looking forward to today would be rescheduled earlier than expected. Fortunately, he had to accompany the yang parents to dinner that gave him the time to cool down and think with a clear head.

"Got it. I'll be a little late -- tell him to wait." Without any expression on his face, Ethan Lu flatly commanded to his assistant on the line.

Surely, Ethan Lu's ridiculous remarks made Lyrick Jiang's face twitched. Did his boss lost his mind? Did he hit his head just now? He was the one who requested this meeting saying it was important yet, he wanted Morris Liu to wait? They are friends, don't they? Then, Ethan Lu must know that his demands were impossible to fulfill!

"Yo - young master -- "

"Lyrick… tell him to wait." Ethan Lu abruptly interrupted Lyrick Jiang's obvious nagging with a stern tone. He grinded his teeth as his grip on the steering wheel tightened.

By the looks of it, Ethan Lu was clearly seething with anger as a furious glint flashed across his eyes. He already planned to use this day to inform his grandfather about his 'marriage' and Lexi's parents for their permission.

Lastly, he wanted to respect his brotherhood with Morris Liu. He needed to have a serious talk with him. He wanted to let him know that he would have to turn his back on the brother code and follow his heart; whether he would give slight care or not, Ethan Lu wanted to let that man know!

But now, it seemed his plan for peaceful discussion was unnecessary. His buttons were pushed after hearing a father's regret and a mother's heartfelt plead. Even if it was in the past, he essentially needed to get this off his chest.

Upon noticing the tone of his boss's tone, Lyrick Jiang composed himself and responded, "Yes, young master." Then, the line was cut short.
