Chapter 237 Then, that's my wish...

Upon hearing her last remarks, Lexi bit her trembling lower lip as hard as she could. Droplets of tears started to fall from her eyes one after another. She could feel her heart thump in a painful way as saliva choked her throat.

"No, you can't... " Were the only words that escaped her mouth as Lexi once again attempted to hold her. Yet, every failed attempt broke her heart. She was still in front of her, the adorable, cheerful dumpling but why… why was her heart aching as if she lost her already?

"No, no, you can't— you can't, Churu." Despite the striking pain piercing her heart, Lexi didn't stop from trying to hold her. "Please… why can't I— don't do this…" Choking, Lexi sobbed as her desperation grew stronger and stronger.

"My last wish, yes that's it! I don't want you to go— just stay with me forever. I will make you tons of facial masks and gift you all the skincare you ever want! You like them right? I will also make you loads of good dresses, right?! Sissy, quick unmute the system so I can make my last wish! You can't leave me." Recalling her sliver of hope, Lexi clasped her hands together as her eyes slightly brightened while she proposed all the things that Churu loved in this world.

"You can't…"

"Churu! This is my wish and stop saying nonsense! Just do what I tell you, okay?" Furious, Lexi gritted her teeth as she felt like smacking this dumpling's little head by her stubbornness. Even so, Lexi was more hurt that Churu was saying this stuff to her.

Doesn't she want to stay with her just like what Lexi desired? Did she grow tired of her drama and hence she didn't want to stay longer? Were the memories they shared together, their happy giggles, their not so fun facts, the scrubbing each other's back while bathing sessions, and most importantly, the heartwarming hugs they exchanged— did Churu not value them?

"Sissy, can you just stay and let's just live happily together? Have you grown tired of me?" With this said note, Lexi covered her mouth as a muffled sob was released as an overwhelming void marked itself on her heart— leaving it empty and lonely.

"Lexi, Morris Liu is dying at this moment— it's all over the news. Use your wish to help him live— you still love him right?" Slowly flying in front of her, Churu rubbed the back of her hand that was on the surface of the table. Alas, although it seemed she was touching her, Churu could not feel the warmth of her host's hand and if she pushed her hand a little more— it will pass through like a spirit that she originally was.

"Your love for him might not be just like it is for Ethan Lu, but, I know… you still love him as a big brother." Raising her welling gaze, Churu gently smiled as she finally understood Lexi's faithful heart.

"One way or another, whether it is today or the next few decades, we will have to bid our farewell. Lexi, you will grow old and eventually leave this world but I won't. Also, I will be alone and lonely if I have to witness you die again— I might end up committing a crime again." Pursing her white lips, Churu leaned her cheeks on the back of her hand hoping to feel her for the last time. Alas, this situation was truly cruel to her as Churu felt her soul slowly fade and lighten.

"So, please, let me be selfish and save me from going through all that— use your wish as my last wish as well." Tears dripped down on Churu's eyes that passed through Lexi's hand.

Lexi did not respond as the hand she used to cover her mouth gently lowered— attempting to pat the dumpling's back. But the moment she did, Lexi sobbed even more as her shoulders trembled because she could only pretend to pat her back.

"Is that... what you really want?" In between her hiccups, Lexi's heart clenched— stopping her heartbeat for a second. "Can you just ask God not to let you go and stay with me? Can't you... do that?"

"Mhmm, I can't." Churu's voice sounded weak and muffled. Her glow grew dim as she slowly turning transparent. Seeing this, Lexi's back uncontrollably trembled as she bit her lower lip even harder— suppressing her hysterical cries.

"Then—" Choking, Lexi hung her head low as she seemed like she could not bring herself from saying her wish. Why must she have to choose between Morris Liu's life and Churu? Why does her last wish feel so painful it breaks her heart?

"Then, that's my wish…" As she said these words, an unimaginable pain pierced her heart. Upon hearing this, the side of Churu's lips subtly curled upward and with a weak snap of her finger, the system displayed to her head and in front of Lexi saying: "The Host's Last Wish Fulfilled!"

Still, both of them didn't pay attention to it as Lexi cried her heart out while Churu's consciousness slowly faded and felt weaker with every passing second.

"Churu, I love you." Lexi closed her eyes— making a pool of liquid behind her eyelids. She mustered all her energy to say the words she hasn't told Churu.

"If I had a little sister— I always wished it was you."

"I'm glad to hear that as well…" The rest of Churu's sentence was hardly audible as she slowly waned.

"No, no, no, please…" Seeing this, Lexi pat Churu's disappearing body. Alas, her hand only landed on the back of her hand— making her bawl her eyes out even more as her hiccups constantly intervened with her breathing.

"You can't, Sissy…" Lexi continuously and desperately tried to hold onto her until Churu vanished— leaving bits of tiny glowing particles as her remnants and Lexi with an untouchable void in her heart.

"Churu..." Lexi wanted to scream her heart out, be hysterical yet, she only cried while covering her mouth under the dim light of the living area. Her eyes began to blur when a light hand patted her back.

Lexi didn't bother to turn around as she continued to cry. The happiness that filled her heart earlier was drastically turned into pain. How could this happen? Just when she felt complete and content— one important person left her. Was this the necessary bargain of her happiness? Sadness in the end?

If so, why would the Absolute One make her happy if He wanted her to suffer in the end? Was He playing with her? Was He entertained with all this? Just WHY?

"It hurts…" Lexi audibly muttered in between her hiccups and excessive cries. Pulling her knees to her chest, Lexi buried her face on her knees as she continued to sob.

Louis Lu continued to pat her shaking back without a word. He was neither too close or too far from her— just enough to lightly pat her back. He let her cry until she could no longer shed another tear and only her hiccups were left— resounding across the living area.

Since the guest room was closer to the living area and he always slept with his other eye conscious, he heard the muffled cries from the living area. There, he saw her talking and crying like a delusional person. However, instead of thinking Lexi had gone mad— her cries were too real and seeped her pain along with it. Hence, he set aside his curiosity and patted her back seeing her slowly breakdown.

Louis Lu then looked up as he heard the master's bedroom opened. Therefore, he stopped patting her back and soundlessly stood, leaving the seemingly tired Lexi who unconsciously fell asleep on her knees. He didn't make a sound as Louis Lu headed to the kitchen preventing Ethan Lu from seeing him so he wouldn't get the wrong idea. Still, Louis Lu glanced at Lexi's small frame before he completely left her.
