Chapter 380 - Evan Lu
Surprisingly enough, Lexi ate more than she could eat while she was pregnant. The food she consumed was enough for two people to ingest. Nevertheless, no one stopped her from filling her tummy as Lexi needed to nourish her body.
Meanwhile, although Frederick Yang and Ethan Lu were exhausted, both didn't have the appetite to eat as much as they could as they constantly yawned every once in a while. Still, they kept on conversing with Lexi and Lillian Yang setting aside their weariness.
"Have you seen the twins?" Arching her brows, Lexi didn't stop eating as she reached for another pastry that she grew fond of while she was pregnant.
"Mhmm, I got to carry them. It was a scary yet a wonderful feeling." Softening his gaze, Ethan Lu smiled a little as he recalled his experience earlier that day.
[Short Flashback]
Earlier that morning, while Lexi was still sleeping, Ethan Lu waited for the time that the nursery room would be available for viewing their child. Hence, when the time came, Ethan Lu silently headed to the nursery room to meet his twins again.
As soon as he reached his destination, he didn't need to ask around because when he arrived at the said area, his heart melted upon laying his pair of dark eyes to a particular pair of twins among the row of babies. It was as if all infants present inside were not there because, in his eyes, there are only his kids in there.
Clinging to the front of the bassinet, there's a written baby girl Lu and baby boy Lu. Despite that their names weren't written on it, there was already this proud, unexplainable and overwhelming feeling inside him.
Placing his hands on the glass wall that separated him and his twins, though he was deprived of sleep and had been working on the side— everything, magically dissipated as seeing these cute, little babies recharged him.
Now, he understood the phrase that he could normally hear from movies and from his business partners that were already married: all your exhaustion would vanish if you see your kid, like magic.
'Am I really a father…?' Asking himself this very question over and over again, Ethan Lu could not help but repeat them again inwardly.
This… everything felt so surreal. He knew, he understood, and was very well informed that he was having twins with Lexi. However, now that the day has finally arrived, he could not fully believe it.
The fact that he was now an official daddy of two wonderful kids, and being a husband to Lexi. Surely, this year had tons of twists and turns, a rollercoaster ride that neither he nor Lexi had expected.
Still, although it was a crazy year for them, Lexi and Ethan Lu could not express their extreme gratitude for giving them a chance to meet, be together, be in love, and start their own family.
What kind of life they had now, it was just too perfect. Set aside the Lu family matters, it was already close to perfection.
"Congrats, Mr. Lu." Just as Ethan Lu was sniffing hard while wiping the corner of his sweating eyes, he heard the very familiar voice of Jaime Liao.
Turning his head to his side, Jaime Liao was as usual, gently smiling while looking at the babies inside the nursery with his hands inside his pocket.
"Thank you," Letting out a heavy sigh, Ethan Lu meekly smiled as he followed the off duty doctor's gaze.
"Mr. Lu, do you want to carry them?" After some silence between the two, Jaime Liao finally broke the peaceful quietness as they peered at the babies through the transparent wall.
Turning his head to Jaime Liao's direction, Ethan Lu knitted his brows a little. "Can I?"
Although the twins were said to be fine, however, the reason why they had to stay in the nursery room instead of Lexi's room was that his twins still needed some close monitoring for twenty-four hours. Moreover, it was under the hospital's policy. Hence, although Ethan Lu wanted to have skin to skin contact with his kids, he didn't want to use his name and powers to force the issue as he wanted to abide by the rules.
"Mhmm…" Gently smiling, Jaime Liao slowly nodded his head which made the side of Ethan Lu's lips curled into a grin.

After careful procedures and perimeters, Jaime Liao guided the sanitized Ethan Lu to one of the available rooms where only the twins were resting. Since it was his own hospital— aside from his secret clinic— Jaime Liao used his favoritism and shortened Ethan Lu's waiting time.
"Position yourself? like this and I will place the baby on you." Instructing Ethan Lu for a cradle hold, Jaime Liao showed him the position he was talking about.
Since Ethan Lu had read more books about pregnancy, childbirth, and parenting lessons, he knew what he was talking about. Thus, he immediately made the cradle hole and patiently waited for Jaime Liao so he could hold his baby.
Soon, Jaime Liao professionally carried the baby boy without a hassle. He turned to Ethan Lu and smiled again.
"Don't panic, alright? Just relax and savor every moment." Reminding the easily terrified first-time father, Jaime Liao waited for Ethan Lu to respond or at least nod his head in understanding
When Ethan Lu nodded, Jaime Liao began transferring the infant in the most careful way. However, despite Ethan Lu's seemingly unwavering resolve earlier, it slowly faded away along with the stiffness of his whole being.
Understandably, because as the baby got closer and closer to him and Jaime Liao carefully laid the baby in his arms, he was just too delicate looking.
It was as if one wrong move, he might drop the baby which would make him literally kill himself. Therefore, to keep it safe, Ethan Lu decided not to move a muscle.
"Relax your shoulder, it's fine." Bearing the same smile, Jaime Liao witnessed Ethan Lu's forehead broke out into a sweat.
"Hi, Evan. It's me, your daddy…" It took Ethan Lu quite some time for his body to listen to his demands to relax. But, after a while, when he finally got used to the baby he was carrying, his gaze softened as he properly introduced himself to his son that they named as Evan Lu.
