Chapter 398 - Boss Yang
Of course, even without telling them who Jessica Dai was referring to, everyone instinctively thought of Ethan Lu and Lexi's relationship. After all, everyone knew that Lexi was engaged to the most eligible bachelor in the business industry who made the Lu Corporation, one of the biggest companies in the country. Hence, upon knowing that the infamous casanova wanted to settle down with just one woman— not everyone was convinced.
'Master, why did you have to taint your reputation like this?' Nico Zhuang on the sidelines subconsciously thought as he saw the peeking heads that were coming from one of the rooms. Glancing at the boastful and obviously delighted woman that was about to throw shades on Lexi, he could not help but speak up.
"Miss, I think you've misunderstood—" Just as Nico Zhuang was in the middle to explain things with the woman to slap her with reality, he stopped when Lexi raised her hand gesturing him to stop.
"True, I am so done with being someone's fiance and also him— so what?" Arching her brows, Lexi uttered in a matter of fact tone. Well, she was indeed telling the truth as Ethan Lu was very impatient to make her to not be just his fiancee so he rushed her to get their marriage certificate while they were waiting for the twins to grow up a little more.
However, what Lexi said wasn't comprehended in that way as they thought the two had truly split. The person who was happily surprised the most was Jessica Dai as she gaped her mouth open before covering it with her hand. She then purposely slipped a faint chuckle before she bit her bottom lip as if refraining herself from bursting out laughing.
"I'm sorry to hear that, poor You." Clearing her throat, for some reason, Jessica Dai displayed her pretentious act as she seemed to sympathize with Lexi.
'Huh, you really can't have it all in life huh? First, Mr. Liu and now, Mr. Lu dumped her.' Jessica Dai sneered inwardly as she dissed Lexi inside her mind. She might not admit it but Lexi obtaining Ethan Lu's love, the man who was like a star that no one could reach was something that any woman would be envious about.
Therefore, knowing that Ethan Lu was single again and Lexi was now has nothing to her name aside from being the Yang heiress, there's really nothing to be envious about her. Well, her pretty face might be something but, that was not important in the industry especially with all the men she got involved with.
Meanwhile, the trainees and instructors that were eavesdropping on the confrontation that was currently going on were flabbergasted. Lexi and Ethan Lu splitting up? That was a piece of big news. Fortunately, there aren't reporters around or else, this hot piece of news would be out that very instant. Still, with this many people who heard Lexi's "confession" about their "break up", it would certainly be a blind item in a few hours.
"Don't worry, we've been friends for a long time and I'm sorry if my approach was very rude. I am just upset that after what happened in the past, you didn't contact me anymore. You know I will be with you just like when Mr. Liu split up with you, right?" Offering Lexi a smile, Jessica Dai's tone gradually changed into a friendly one. She sounded like a friend who admitted her wrongs and explained her side of the story before she purposely uttered the incident about Lexi's controversial relationship with Morris Liu.
Jessica Dai, Che Diayu, and Lexi's former friends were all her outlets in the past whenever she could not contain her overwhelming emotions anymore. Hence, she would often ask them out to have a girl's night out and have a few wines before Lexi would break down and endlessly call Morris Liu's name while crying. Those girls were there to witness her lowest side thinking that they were really concerned about her.
But, what did they do? Spited her and were glad that she was having that kind of problem because they wanted to covet her man. Or rather, they didn't want her to have a better man than theirs. The acceptable reason why Lexi didn't want to surround herself with these types of toxic people when her "suicide attempt failed".
"Really?" Smirking, Lexi watched how Jessica Dai acted as if she was dumb to fall for her unworthy acting skills.
'Did she really think I am that vulnerable and desperate?' Chuckling at how silly the old Lexi was for not being able to see the real side of Jessica Dai, or rather, it was not that she didn't see it. She just turned a blind eye to it because she has literally no one to talk to if not them. Lexi didn't want to worry her parents and that led her ending up turning to the wrong people.
"Of course! You're here to find Boss Fan, right? I can assist you around since she's not here." Whether she believed that Lexi was seriously that dumb or not, Jessica Dai didn't think much about it. What's important to her now was that she would surely make Lexi see their difference this time.
"How nice of you…" Amused at how long the woman could keep up her pretentious act, Lexi complimented. She didn't care about the stares from behind Jessica Dai because the woman was, for some odd reason, in her company and how she thinks that she was now superior to everyone was quite entertaining to witness.
"Tch, what are friends for?" Clicking her tongue as Jessica Dai slightly waved her hand off, she gestured that it was no biggie. "Also, I can't let others tour you around especially those old ones because they will use the seniority thing with you— I can't let that happen." Emphasizing the word 'seniority', although Jessica Dai's words sounded pretty harmless, however, Lexi knew what she meant by that. She was, in her own sly way, indirectly telling Lexi that she was her senior since she's restarting.
"Oh my! Miss Yang will be working under AL?"
"No way… that's awesome~"
"I wonder if she wanted to go back to acting because of her split with Mr. Lu?"
"Shhh, keep quiet I can't hear!"
"I never see sister Jess sound so… annoying?"
"She is, but I will be more annoyed if Miss Lexi will believe her." One after another, the very few brave ones who heard the loud tattling of Jessica Dai could not help but comment and talk to each other.
At first, they were utterly flabbergasted when they heard her say that Lexi's engagement was 'called off'. However, the more Jessica Dai ran her mouth, the more the excitement circled in their hearts that the legendary comic relief that shone brighter than the main leads would be working under the same agency.
And then, others were quite irked hearing how Jessica Dai delivered her "kind" words. Does she think that everyone around her was dumb? She had always had this kind of competitive attitude to everyone but right now, she seemed to be going overboard. Which made it easier to discern that she had hidden grudges towards Lexi.
"Hmm?" Hearing no verbal response from Lexi as she only grinned brightly, Jessica Dai hummed a tune while raising her brows.
"Thank you for the offer, Miss Dai. But, I'm afraid I don't have the leisure to tour around at the moment." Smiling, Lexi still sounded polite as she had enough entertainment watching a monkey that thinks she was fooling anyone.
It was fun to see people pretend in front of you when you know the truth and not buying any of their crap.
"Oh…" On the surface, Jessica Dai nodded on the surface but internally, she was sneering. To her, that was just Lexi's way to save her enormous ego and pride. "That's fine. You can always ask me if you need any help since it seems we'll work under the same agency." In a sweet tone, Jessica Dai smiled as she innocently tilted her head to the side.
Just then, just before Lexi could respond, an unfamiliar voice of a man was heard from behind her. "Miss Yang?"
'Hmm? Is he the guy?' Lexi turned her head to the direction of the voice and recalled how Abigail Fan described her personal and most trusted assistant. Aside from Lexi who hadn't met this four-eyed chubby man who was only wearing a simple jacket with a printed t-shirt underneath, loose denim pants and sneakers, everyone else who was there slightly bowed their heads in respect to the man.
"Manager Qian!" Of course, the ever diva that wanted all the attention focused on her immediately greeted John Qian as she displayed her 'closeness' to the most successful manager in the agency. When Lexi heard Jessica Dai on how she addressed the man, the corner of her lips curled a little upward because her chauffer finally arrived to fetch her.
"I'm sorry to keep you waiting, boss Yang. I have to fetch something from the PR department." John Qian first glanced at Jessica Dai but didn't say a word to her as he directly headed in front of Lexi before he slightly bowed his head as he apologized.
"Boss…?" Puzzled at what the manager addressed Lexi as, not just Jessica Dai knitted her brows but also others who were up until now was eavesdropping on their conversation. Jessica Dai altered her gaze from John Qian's baffled look to Lexi's smiling side profile.
"No worries, Manager Qian. Also, I was granted to have a chat with an old acquaintance of mine— I was entertained." Lexi offered John Qian a reassuring smile that she didn't mind the short wait because she had the time to internally criticize the size of Jessica Dai's small brain.
"Hehe, Boss Yang, let's go this way please." Laughing off the awkwardness as he didn't expect that Abigail Fan's description of Lexi was accurate— very unlike the impression a person would usually think of her before meeting her in person.
"Wait—!" Seeing that John Qian was treating Lexi with extra careful manners, as they were about to leave, Jessica Dai heedlessly stopped them in their tracks. "Manager Qian, why are you addressing her like that?" With an awkward smile laced with a little bit of laughter, she asked.
"Sister Jess, don't speak like that to Boss Yang— she's one of our big bosses! The co-founder of AL entertainment." Frowning at the many offenses Jessica Dai did within a short amount of time the moment he came in, John Qian was displeased at the tactlessness she was showing.
The moment everyone heard Manager Qian's remarks, everyone's jaw literally dropped to their feet as they were utterly dumbfounded about Lexi's role in the company.
