Just then, Mia Chen heard her phone rang, resonating throughout the whole empty hallway. Glancing at Morris Liu and then to Lexi, she saw Lexi briefly raised her right brow, gesturing her to answer the call.
"Well, Miss Chen? Won't you answer?" Smirking, Lexi insinuated. "Is it something that we shouldn't hear? Don't worry, we respect your privacy." Lexi added.
Slowly, Mia Chen picked up her phone and saw a familiar contact person; it was one of the media people she hired! Picking it up, Mia Chen said nothing and let the person speak.
"Miss Chen, are you sure about the room number? The people inside are not Mr. Liu and Miss Yang but different couples! They said they will sue us!" From the other end of the line, a panicking man exclaimed through his shaking voice.
Mia Chen heard him grumbled on and on but, she could not finish everything as his voice faded because she helplessly put down her phone. Her eyes dimmed from any expectations and her lips slightly paled.
"Miss Chen! Miss Chen!" Not just Mia Chen but also, Morris Liu and Lexi heard the man from the other end calling her name as loud as he could. Alas, Mia Chen already ended the call that returned the stifling atmosphere in the air.
"Not a good morning call, I see…" Lexi humored as she purposely poked a nerve. Well, it was enjoyable in a way as she really didn't like this woman from the beginning. Not just that, even after trying to be civil and kind, attempting to forget whatever happened in the past and moved on, she still pulled this scheme. Thus, Lexi wouldn't mind accepting the challenge.
"What do you think the two of you are doing?!" Just then, Mia Chen ground her teeth as she glared at Morris Liu and then moved it to Lexi's direction. "This is harassment!" As her defense mechanism kicked in, Mia Chen harshly slapped Morris Liu's arm, causing it to swing to the side.
"I don't know what the two of you want but I don't have time to spare. Get out of my way!" Still bearing her glares as her real colors slowly revealed, exposing her claws and fangs beneath her fragile surface, Mia Chen scoffed as she turned around and was about to storm her way out.
However, just as she took two steps, Morris Liu caught her wrist but, she aggressively flung her arm to get him off her. "You know what I was before, so, you can't keep me here whether you like it or not." Reminding him of her former occupation, a skilled mercenary, Mia Chen warned.
After all, even if these two joined forces, without any combat skills, she still has the upper hand. Hence, Mia Chen was confident that even if her beloved Morris Liu would try again, she would not hesitate to cause him some minor injury.
Unfortunately, she wouldn't be able to witness it in the front seat. Still, that wasn't important at the moment. As long as Lexi and Ethan Lu would split, that was good enough for her.
"Alright," Raising both his hands in the air, Morris Liu conceded in defeat. Despite her sudden aggression and the slight pain on his arm, Morris Liu's stoic front didn't change a bit.
"That's sad…" As Mia Chen began walking away, Lexi's dejected voice reached her ears. However, Mia Chen couldn't care less as she needed to get away from these two as soon as possible.
However, just as she hastened her pace, it suddenly came to a full halt upon seeing a figure ahead approach her. There, Chris Yu's nonchalant figure was walking opposite her with a slight smile on his lips.
"Hello there, sexy lady." Chris Yu slightly waved his hand as he maliciously greeted her — staring at her from head to toe. "Nice skirt," He complimented as he drew closer and closer to her.
"You—!" Balling her hand into a fist, Mia Chen's jaw tightened as she swallowed a mouthful of saliva. She took a step back before she pressed some pressure on her heel, pivoting back to where Morris Liu and Lexi stood.
"It's sad, isn't it? Whether you like it or not, you don't have a choice to make." Lexi tilted her head to the side as she slightly frowned, acting sorry for Mia Chen's tight situation.
"Don't have any choice? Haha!" Upon hearing Lexi's words, Mia Chen scoffed before a burst of maniac laughter that could send a chill run down to one's spine resounded across the whole floor.
"You think so, Miss Yang? Hahaha!" Mia Chen held her stomach as she laughed even louder. If they didn't know any better, they would think that she has gone crazy.
Alas, she's already crazy! Hence, the woman before them was jus the real Mia Chen.
"Brother Mo, I can't believe you chose someone as crazy as her as your props. Tight budget, I presumed?" Watching Mia Chen transformed into a deranged woman, Lexi murmured in disdain.
"No, bad decisions." Morris Liu cast Lexi a side glance before he averted his gaze back to Mia Chen. Even to him, it was his first time seeing her act like this as she was now cornered.
The next second, Mia Chen stopped laughing as she suddenly bolted towards Lexi. She was fast, talking about experience — Mia Chen was indeed?skilled.
For normal people like Morris Liu and Lexi, this sudden act caught them off-guard as they could merely stare at the figure coming at them like a bolt of lightning. However, neither of them showed the slightest fear.
Just then, a figure behind Lexi flashed forward, no one could see him as his speed was unbelievable that it produced a gust of wind inside this closed space.
