The Rise of the White Lotus

Chapter 520: A nephews advice

Chapter 520: A nephews advice

520 A nephew's advice

When Dennis Lu heard his trusted assistant's name, his brows knitted even more. Rowan Go was someone he truly trusted in many things. Hence, that just meant that this assistant of his was worthy of his trust — even entrusting important, illegal transactions with him.

But one thing that Dennis Lu was certain, was that Rowan Go only made action under his orders. Hence, does Ethan Lu implied that he was connected to threatening Lexi?

A frown formed on Dennis Lu's lips, "Master, what are you implying? I am not involved with it and I'm sure someone is framing my assistant and me!" Although Dennis Lu knew it was futile to deny the false accusations that were being thrown at him, he still defended himself.

"Do you have evidence to prove your innocence, Uncle?" Ethan Lu furrowed his brows as he watched Dennis Lu's front gets ugly by the second. He then showed his phone and after several taps, a voice recording began playing, resounding across the room.

Based on the recording, it seemed that it was a recorded conversation of two men. Upon hearing the first man, Dennis Lu's forehead wrinkled, his frown getting worse. He recognized the other person's voice; it was undoubtedly Rowan Go.

[ "Did you do what I told you to do?"

"Yes," David Choi, the person that threatened Lexi and received a sweet, nice beating from Ethan Lu stuttered. Still, despite that his voice was shaky, Rowan Go ignored it. "Sir, who is this Miss Yang you asked me to call? Are you sure she's just a normal madam?" He added since he was told to talk to him as if there were no people recording their conversation.

David Choi was promised that if he cooperated, Ethan Lu might withdraw other charges against him. It wasn't specified what charges exactly, but he doesn't have that many choices, does he? Hence, if it meant lessening his punishment, David Choi obeyed Ethan Lu's orders.

"Don't ask questions. Send your resignation tomorrow and leave the country for now." Without giving him any hints, Rowan Go blankly commanded without a pause.

"But —"

"It's for your own good. I will send you your payment for that and also recommend you to a good company." Rowan Go didn't give David Choi the chance to refuse as he resumed on his instructions. "Remember, this never happened." After giving out his orders, Rowan Go remarked, his tone sounded firm and threatening in a way.

Dennis and Ethan Lu only heard silence from the recording audio for a minute. It rendered David Choi speechless that he was being disposed of after they used him to offend the people he mustn't touch.

Granted that the offer of giving him his fee and even a recommendation to a new company sounded good, however, would he start another occupation with his age? He worked hard for years to reach wherever he was. But, because of his greed, he got involved in a shady operation inside the Lu Corporation.

"Alright, sir." David Choi finally spoke and agreed to his demands before the recording stopped. ]

"Well?" After some time, Ethan Lu broke the silence as Dennis Lu never uttered a word after hearing the whole recording. He has to take his time to absorb everything and think of Ethan Lu's intention.

"Master, I'm sorry but I don't understand what do you want with me. Although the person sounded like Mr. Go, how can I know if it's legit or not?" Since Dennis Lu's life was also placed on the line because Rowan Go was working under him, and it would only make sense if Dennis Lu was the mastermind — at the very least, that's what everyone would think.

"Want with you?" Ethan Lu languidly leaned his back, placing his leg over the other as Churu flew and sat on his lap. "Uncle, you know that you'd be in trouble whether or not you're involved… why bother about its legitimacy?" Smiling, Ethan Lu was unusually calm.

"Uncle, when did you think I got this? Just now?" Tilting his head to the side, he asked. "No, it's been a week or so, but why didn't I take action?" Ethan Lu answered his own question and then dropped another question since Dennis Lu and his dumb mind couldn't process everything.

"Ethan, what do you want?" He solemnly asked once again as he stared at the sly pair of eyes staring back at him.

In Dennis Lu's understanding, Ethan Lu was solely targeting him. Whether Rowan Go made a move on his own or not — it would still impact him regardless. To him, this was probably the mistake that Ethan Lu had been waiting for to happen.

"Hmm, let's see…" Ethan Lu rubbed his chin as he pondered.

"Ask him to eat a truck of sh*t~!" As Ethan Lu contemplated how to word his demands, Churu suggested as a mischievous grin formed on her lips. "Or, make him do a thousand push-ups without rest~!" Churu's sadistic remarks made Ethan Lu's brows subconsciously twitch.

'Chacha, keep quiet, alright? I don't plan on murdering him.' He responded inside his head. Although Ethan Lu disliked this Uncle of his, for some reason, aside from his greediness and ambition to be on the top, those were already his worst traits Ethan Lu could see in him.

Still, just like in the phrase: Blood runs thicker than water, Ethan Lu was still lenient to him. After all, he was just a mean old man, but that's just about it. At the very least, aside from making unnecessary trouble for Ethan Lu, Dennis Lu never tried to go to his bottom line as to drag Lexi with it.

"Why don't you visit the temple and reflect?" Ethan Lu returned his gaze to the anxious and solemn Dennis Lu before he grinned. He then began assisting himself to stand and dusted off his office. As he does so, Ethan Lu spoke. "You know Uncle, although you've been very careful, did you really think I wouldn't know everything that's happening in my territory?"

Dennis Lu could only listen and watched Ethan Lu dust off his suit before he fixed his posture. For some reason, Dennis Lu could not muster the strength to stand up upon hearing Ethan Lu's last remarks.

"Take my advice while I am being lenient. Don't disappoint Grandpa even further."
