Chapter 558 - The Scum Is Average

Chapter 558 - The Scum Is Average

Night.

"Fortunately, Chen Su-shidi managed to find some herbs to use as hemostasis!" Cui Xiang spoke as she bandaged Qian Jue's wound in his arm. "Or else, our reserves would be depleted!" she said and slapped Qian Jue's back.

Qian Jue shivered in pain but held the grunt inside his throat. "Thank you very much." He sincerely said. He had used all of the magic pills and potions that he and Qian Meng had just to kill all the demons earlier.josei

Now, they had nothing left. So, he told Qian Meng earlier to ally with the Xinfaxian Sect so they can have a regular supply of magic pills and potions, as well as talismans. Naturally, Qian Meng agreed since these people have saved them both earlier without asking anything in exchange.

They are all good people! He thought and cried, feeling deeply grateful towards the Xinfaxian Sect. No wonder his adoptive father Qian Lin and adoptive uncle Qian Tian are telling him to befriend the Xinfaxian Sect disciple to not only learn from them but also to develop a good relationship with them.

Though, Qian Tian's main purpose for him to befriend them is because he is planning to marry You Rou.

Suddenly, everyone smelled a fragrant scent and everyone's stomachs immediately grumbled in hunger. "Dinner's cooked!" they heard Jing De's loud voice called.

Everyone immediately got up and headed outside where they saw Wu Lian is scooping the soup with his ever-so serious face. Everyone's enthusiasm immediately decreased and was replaced by an awkward feeling. Wu Lian is one of the best in their generation of disciples yet right now he is reduced to being their chef.

Everyone rubbed their noses in guilt and shame as they all sat around the fire. Cui Xiao, Wen Wen and Chen Yu, along with the conscientious Fei Yinzi who felt ashamed since he didn't 'inherit' his master's cooking skills, are helping Wu Lian serve their food.

"Delicious!" Cui Xiang, who is the first to be served food, exclaimed in delight and gorged down her food without caring for her image.

Everyone gulped their saliva and felt hungrier. They looked at Wu Lian, Cui Xiao, Wen Wen, Chen Yu and Fei Yinzi who are handing out the bowls filled with soup with their eyes full of expectation.

"Thank you very much!" Qian Lin said and sighed in gratitude after Wen Wen gave him two bowls of food for him and his brother.

Not only did they saved them and treated Qian Jue's wounds, they also are kind to feed them. And, naturally, them brothers are going to stay here, too, since Qian Jue still needs to recover so they would need a safe shelter, which is this place.

Just how much are they going to be indebted to them? Qian Jue thought and smiled. They don't even want points. Kind people are very kind, but they are very fortunate to meet many of them.

"You are welcome!" Wen Wen said. "Patients need to be served first so they can recover faster!" he told him and then left.

"Ge." Qian Meng turned to Qian Jue. "Your arm is hurt. Let me feed you." He told him as he looked at Qian Jue's both arms that were bandaged. His heart is filled with guilt.

Qian Jue didn't refuse for he still feel weak and it is really painful to move his arms.

"Thank you, Er Zi." Ling Yun spoke after Fei Yinzi delivered to him his food because Ling Yun's foot is still hurting. He received the food.

Fei Yinzi didn't speak and just looked at him. Ling Yun's heart thumped nervously.

"Just call me like this. No need to call me 'shixiong'." Fei Yinzi spoke. "It makes me feel awkward and… you are older than me." He told him and left without waiting for Ling Yun to answer.

"… huh?" Ling Yun blinked and looked at Fei Yinzi's back.

Li Yan who is sitting beside him patted his shoulder. "What he mean is that he finally acknowledges you as his fellow disciple under elder Cheng Sheng." He told him.

Ling Yun's face flushed. "Really?!" he exclaimed.

"Yes." Li Yan nodded and told him what happened earlier when they found out that Ling Yun got lost.

Ling Yun's eyes widened in shock. "I…" he muttered. "Thank you." He said.

"It is not me who you should thank, but Er Zi!" Li Yan told him.

Tang Li heard their conversation and he gave Ling Yun an encouraging smile.

"I will." Ling Yun smiled, feeling happy.

"Thank you, Lian-ge!" Chen Su grinned when he received his food.

"En. You have found the herb I was looking for to be used as a seasoning." Wu Lian said.

Chen Su didn't appear earlier with Su Mi and the others because he was looking for the herbs. The people with him are idiots when it comes to herbs, much less plants, and it was fortunate that he came with them. Chen Wu told them earlier that he is good in finding and identifying herbs thus Su Mi asked Cui Xiang for the list of the ingredients she needed in refining medicines. Wu Lian asked Chen Su earlier to find a certain spice for him to use in cooking later.

Since Cheng Sheng is the best alchemist in the world, naturally he taught them his nephews, too, about alchemy. But, Chen Wu's interests regrettably doesn't lie in alchemy while Chen Yu is too timid to try refining because either the magic tools would explode or the magic pills and potions would stink. Chen Su actually also doesn't have a talent in alchemy but surprisingly, he is good with medicine, especially in identifying the herbs and know their uses.

Cheng Sheng naturally felt satisfied with this nephew of his that seemed to look average. It is just natural for the children in the middle like Chen Su to be average-looking since they are often overlooked, because mostly, one cares only with the eldest and the youngest.

"How are the traps?" Jing Xu asked Jing De as they ate on the side.

"Ge!" Jing De suddenly cried.

"What?!" Jing Xu frowned and hit his younger brother.

"Ge. It is really fortunate that we allied with the Xinfaxian Sect since their traps are so wicked!" Jing De said and shivered in fear when he remembered Cui Xiao placed one trap after another and Wen Wen increased their lethality using his talismans.

Jing Xu's brows raised, feeling amused. He is curious about these traps. Of course, even if he is curious, naturally he wouldn't try it on himself. He then looked at the Xinfaxian Sect disciples who are eating with the Youxiwang Sect disciples while chatting.

These Xinfaxian Sect disciples really looked carefree like their sect leader and elders, especially Cheng Sheng. But who would know that they actually have many tricks up their sleeves aside from their strength possessed?

Jing Xu was reminded this time to not underestimate anyone, especially those who looked average at first glance.

The Xinfaxian Sect is really a carefree sect, since their sect leader and elders never give them requirements. They just really want to nurture their disciples. Fortunately, the disciples have set requirements on their selves and their masters felt gratified at their attitude so they taught them with everything that they could thus they became who they are now.

"Wu-shixiong, thank you for the food!" Fei Yinzi spoke and cupped his fists. "The taste is comparable to my master's dishes!" he told him.

Chen Wu, Chen Su and Chen Yu nodded in agreement. They have tasted Cheng Sheng's dishes before during their family dinners and they almost have forgotten their names.  The Xinfaxian Sect disciples also nodded. Their tongues curled inside their mouths when they recalled the dishes they loved that were made by Cheng Sheng.

"Thank you for the praise." Wu Lian nodded.

"Honestly, Wu-shixiong doesn't look like he knows how to cook." Zhu Xi spoke. He really has been influenced by his master Feng Mo being so blunt when speaking. "But, not only you know how to cook, the dishes you made are all very delicious!" he sincerely told him. "How did you know how to cook?" he curiously asked.

The Xinfaxian Sect disciples nodded, also feeling curious. The other disciples with them, including He Shun and the rogue cultivator Qi Lan who are silently eating on the side, heard them and they all turned to their group, also feeling curious about Wu Lian's cooking skills.

But, the Youxiwang Sect disciples almost choked on their food when they heard the question, especially Chen Wu. Chen Wu coughed and looked at Zhu Xi with a bizarre gaze. He didn't expect someone really dared ask Wu Lian about this! He thought and inwardly cried. He, Chen Su and Chen Yu turned to look at Wu Lian.

"… is there something wrong?" Wen Yan asked when he noticed that the expression of the Chen trio is off.

"No." Wu Lian answered. "I learned how to cook because of my father." He answered.. He is referring to Wu Yuan.
