Volume 12 Chapter 76 : Momentary Peace
"That's enough for now," Yalide clapped her hands to get the attention of the spirits, "Let me tell you, the invasion by the demon clan was an attempt to capture everyone and do some truly terrible things. This event would result in the deaths of a large number of spirits, and at the same time, it would bring forth even more powerful enemies."
"I know, I know! Miss Wind Chimes and that traitor Bloom Water mentioned it when they were talking. It's like a sacrifice, right?" The young wood spirit girl who spoke earlier jumped out.
"Yes, just as Jane-Coral said, it's a sacrifice, indeed." Yalide spoke.
"Huh? How do you know my name?" Jane-Coral did not recall having met Yalide, because Yalide had not came out of Lin Xiang's body at the time.
"Of course, I've been keeping an eye on you, after all, I am the dragon god."
"Hmph, big liar," Jane-Coral wrinkled her nose at Yalide and ran to Lin Xiang, pulling him over, "Sir Lin Xiang, she said she's the dragon god. Is it true?"
"Well, it's true," Lin Xiang scratched his head, not wanting to admit it.
"Huh? Really?"
"The dragon god is still alive? And standing right in front of us?" The spirits were truly astounded now, even more so than when Wind Fury and Yalide spoke.
"Hey, what's going on with you guys? Why do you all believe the little brat when he says I'm real?"
"Of course. I now unconditionally trust Sir Lin Xiang. Even if Sir Lin Xiang asks me to go to take my life, I will willingly do so."
"Me too," The spirits who had fought before responded the same way. Without Lin Xiang, they would not have experienced the exhilarating sensation of defeating enemies and feeling victorious, or they would have hide in their homes, waiting for the enemy to break down their doors.
"Everyone" Lin Xiang was deeply moved. He felt like he had not done much, yet he had gained the trust of the spirits.
Yalide's lips curled into a barely noticeable smile, "Alright, we'll talk more about this later. For now, we are facing a threat, which is the threat of sacrifice. If the sacrificial ritual succeeds, extremely dangerous and powerful enemies will emerge. They won't be as easy to deal with as the demon clan."
"What? Stronger than the demon clan? What kind of beings are they?" The bull-headed demon clan member from earlier had smashed the city gate with a single blow, something even a thousand spirits could not accomplish. If they were even more formidable than Bull-head, the spirits could not even imagine it.
"So, in order to prevent them from being released, we need to stop the sacrifice, gather everyone's strength, and rescue the captured spirits. Who's willing to go?"
The spirits who had fought before were the first to step forward. They yearned for battle, and they hoped that through fighting, their family and friends would be safe.
However, the other spirits remained silent. Some of them had been thinking earlier that if there was a next time, they would definitely charge ahead, but now that there was an actual battle, they felt a little afraid.
Living creatures still feared death.
"You're really cowards," a female spirit in Thunder Castle armor pushed her way out from the crowd, supporting another female spirit in similar Thunder Castle armor with her right thigh wrapped in bandages.
"If therere indeed powerful enemies appearing later, rather than waiting to be killed, it's better to take action! Doing nothing will lead to death for sure, but if we act, there's a chance to survive. Why can't you all understand such a simple truth? Is wanting to live for the moment just enough for you?"
This fight is not only for yourselves, but also for your own family, and the future of Spirit Country. You all ae really selfish.
"That's right, Jensy, Fox." Yalide patted both their heads, "Did you all hear? Are you really going to be cowards, enjoying the current air while leaving the future to the grim reaper? The only ones who can save you are yourselves."
The spirits all fell into contemplation.
"Everyone, you can choose to evade and not fight, but when the demon kings are released, the demon realm will descend into chaos. Perhaps you may survive, but are you willing to watch the world you inhabit be destroyed, and have no place to call home?" Lin Xiang finished speaking, and many spirits had a response.
"Sir Lin Xiang, I'm sorry. Even though you're human, youve came to worry about us spirits, while we spirits don't even care about our own affairs I want to go! Even if it means dying, it's worth it. I have a child, and in order for him to grow up happily, I must fight!"
"Yes! It might not necessarily lead to death. Anyway, what I want to do is survive in battles against those demonic creatures and kill them."
"That's right!"
Doubts began to waver, more and more spirits made up their minds. They were willing to give it their all this time.
"Residents!" Reggie spoke loudly, "We have a dragon god, as well as two great dragons and Lin Xiang. Along with our combined efforts, well definitely be able to repel those demonic creatures! Didn't we already defeat the invading monsters in Delza? Next, we'll defeat the demonic creatures in the other cities! When we achieve peace, Delza will surely become the most famous city! When you visit other cities, as soon as the other spirits hear that you're from Delza, they'll all show you respect. Don't you want that?"
"Yes!" The spirits replied in unison.
"Well then, let's fight! We fight for Spirit Country, for ourselves!"
"Oh!!!"
"Hahahaha! How naive, all of you," an untimely laugh rang out. On the city wall, Bloom Water appeared.
"Traitor! Traitor is up there!" All the spirits glared at Bloom Water.
"Traitor? To you, I'm a traitor, but to the new world, to the new spirits, I am one of the great leaders. Do you really think you can defeat the demon clan? With you bunch of useless individuals, two dragons, a self-proclaimed dragon god, and a human named Lin Xiang? Haha, its ridiculous!"
"Its not ridiculous! We will definitely achieve the final victory! You traitors, prepare to face judgment." Wind Fury released a tornado, but Bloom Water easily dodged it.
"Uncle Wind Fury, are you tired? It seems that your magic isn't as domineering as before, but I really didn't expect you guys to come back alive. It seems that Father's carefully calculated plan didn't go as smoothly as he hoped."
"Don't mention your father. You called me Uncle Wind Fury, but we have nothing to do with each other. You traitors have no right to stand in Delza."
"Alright then. I'm really looking forward to seeing you all crawling on the ground and begging for mercy in the end. Well, see you later." Bloom Water turned into water droplets and disappeared into the wall.
"Lord Wind Fury, why don't we arrest the traitors?" a guard asked. When they were trapped in the wild, surrounded by their own comrades and slaughtered, they truly despised the traitors.
"Forget it, we can't catch them. I wouldve captured them if I could. We need to rest for a while and replenish our magic. After a night of battle, everyone must have been tired." Wind Fury let out a sigh, looking like he had aged a lot. After all, he had a good relationship with Dusk Water, and in his eyes, Bloom Water was a clever and sensible child. He shook his head, not wanting to think about it, because it had already happened.
