Volume 12 Chapter 77 : Helpers
"I know I shouldn't be saying this," Wind Fury had to clarify the situation because of Bloom Water. "Right now, our combat power against the demon clan is indeed very dangerous. When we escaped from that place, we saw quite a number of the demon clan They were continuously summoned through magic arrays, so we don't know exactly how many there are."
Upon hearing Wind Fury's words, the spirits' initially high spirits began to decline. Just as Wind Fury said, he shouldn't have mentioned that, as it could discourage the spirits. However, if he refused to say it now, it would be even worse once the spirits saw so many demonic creatures on the battlefield. Wind Fury hoped that the spirits would be mentally prepared.
"Actually I can call for some helpers," Valarie said.
"Oh? Great dragon, you have helpers?" Wind Fury looked at Valarie in surprise.
"Yes. Sort of."
"Valarie, didn't you say you've never left the Valley of Fire? How do you know about helpers?" Lin Xiang was a bit puzzled.
"Therere several times we went to the demon realm together and. parted ways. On my way back to Valley of Fire I met them Wait." Valarie looked up at the sky. She took a deep breath, and her chest rose, appearing larger.
"Tch," Reidy turned her head without looking.
"Hoo~~ Valarie!" A deafening roar echoed in the sky, and the spirits instinctively covered their ears.
The roar did not last long before a small blue dot appeared in the sky. It swiftly flew closer and then descended slowly. As they got a clearer view, it was a girl. The girl had long, wavy blue hair, and behind her were slender dragon wings.
"Little Valarie!" Bellina landed, her dragon wings still spread open as she reached out to hug Valarie. Valarie took a step aside, avoiding her. Bellina ended up hugging emptiness, and she froze for a moment before cheerfully saying to Valarie, "Long time no see, Little Valarie."
"We met earlier."
"Ah, one day apart feels like three autumns. I've missed you so much." Speaking of that, Bellina glared fiercely at Yalide, "You wicked dragon god, how can you make me do such boring things. It's been so long since I've been separated from Little Valarie."
"So, are you done?"
"All done. I heard Little Valarie calling right after I finished, so I flew over immediately. Hm? This brat is here too. I really didn't want to see you. Move aside and dont be an eyesore," Bellina pushed Lin Xiang away like she was shooing away a mosquito.
Lin Xiang could only smile wryly.
"Lady Valarie, we've met this Lady Bellina before. The helper you mentioned isn't her, is it?" a guard next to Wind Fury asked cautiously.
"No It's not this brat," Valarie shook her head.
"How rude! What do you mean by this brat? Little Valarie!"
"Can you please be a little quieter for a moment."
"If you want me to be quiet, Little Valarie, then let me hug you." With that, Bellina hugged her again, but this time
"It's so hot!!!" She jumped up as she clutched her burning butt.
Seeing the scene, the spirits' fear towards Valarie and her companion reduced even further.
In fact, dragons were not as terrifying as people believed.
"So, Lady Valarie, your helper"
Valarie did not answer, just staring at the sky.
The spirits could not get an answer, so they all looked up at the starry sky where the clouds had not completely dispersed yet. They waited for a while, but nothing happened. Then they started discussing the roar that Valarie made earlier, wondering how such a small mouth could produce such a huge sound.
"Ah-oooh!!!" All of a sudden, a dragon's roar resounded through the sky again. It immediately caught the attention of the spirits.
"Did you hear that!"
"Its the call of a ddragon!"
"Ah-oooh!!!" Another dragon's roar followed, and the spirits could hear it even more clearly.
In the hazy grey sky, several enormous figures flew towards them. They soared through the clouds, and each flap of their wings created billowing waves of clouds.
Several giant dragons appeared in the spirits' field of vision. Two were dragging long trails of fire, one left a trail of rain wherever it passed, while another one moved incredibly fast, surrounded by visible streams of air current. They circled in the sky for a while, then roared again before descending.
"Roar!" The impact threw up a burst of dust against the city walls, and several pairs of large claws pressed on it.
"Dragons! They're dragons!" One spirit exclaimed, then got smacked on the back of the head by a companion. "Idiot! Haven't you seen a dragon before? What are you yelling about?"
"But this looks like a real dragon."
Indeed, they had heads resembling lizards, broad double wings, metallic dragon scales, and claws that could easily pierce through the city walls. Compared to Valarie and Bellina, they gave the spirits a more authentic dragon impression. Or rather, the spirits believed that they were how dragons should be.
Little did they know, even dragons wished they could be like Valarie and Bellina, giving up their massive bodies.
Valarie greeted them in dragon language and exchanged some words. The several giant dragons nodded, then roared towards the sky one after another.
Their roars seemed capable of piercing through the hearts of the spirits, causing their hearts to momentarily stop beating.
It was said that even hearing a dragon's roar could make one's legs go numb, let alone facing a dragon in battle. The rumor had been passed among the spirits, and now, they had truly experienced it in reality.
With giant dragons present, the spirits neither dared to speak, nor even gasp for breath.
"Ah-oooh!!!" Dragon's roar echoed from the horizon, calling from afar one after another. All the spirits instinctively held their breath. Soon, dozens of dragons appeared in the sky.
"That's all we can call," Valarie said.
"Its e enough!" Wind Fury, a hundred-year-old spirit who had seen bloodshed on the edge of blades, was a city lord with extraordinary courage, yet he was somewhat stunned at the sight of so many dragons.
The other spirits were even more frightened. Some might never be able to see a single dragon in their entire lives, but now they were seeing a whole group of them at once. It was indeed shocking for them.
At the same time, their hearts were filled with even more hope for the upcoming battles.
A ray of sunlight pierced through the fog of the dark night, illuminating the earth. With dragons in the sky and spirits on the ground, sunlight shone on Lin Xiang, giving him a sense of warmth. The cold night had passed.
The Demon Abyss Crack
The area was flat, with endless muddy ground and not a single plant in sight. From very far away, one could see a massive different-dimensional crack. Unlike other cracks, that crack was pitch black but emitted a faint purple light, allowing one to see dark matter within. It was the demon abyss.
In front of the demon abyss, there was a small hill. It was never there before, but was artificially created later. On the hill was a sacrificial altar, and standing in front of it, or rather floating, were a standing and a levitating demon clan member.
"Shadowar, Death Demon, and the others have lost contact. There's also no movement from Pine and the others in the city called Delza," The standing demon clan member was dressed in black armor, yielding a crimson sword at its waist, and a helmet on its head, looking like a dark warrior. He was reporting to the levitating demon clan member, who was wearing a cloak.
"It seems there's an interesting character in Delza," the cloaked demon clan member chuckled.
"Do you need me to lead a team over?"
"No need. The spirits we have now are almost ready. We just need to wait for those in Selga to arrive, then we can begin the ritual," The bone staff and hood was the most common attire for demon clan sacrificial rituals. The one in front them was no exception. Additionally, they also wore a peculiar, eerie mask, with a seductive black light emitting from the eye area.
The seductive black light fixed its gaze on the densely packed spirits before them.
Around the spirits were the swarm of carnivorous demonic insects, salivating for flesh, which frightened the spirits. Apart from crying and cursing, they did not dare to do anything else.
At that moment, more spirits arrived from the west, each enormous demon carrying hundreds of spirits on their backs. Seeing this, the light in the eyes of the demon clan member in charge of the sacrifice shrank and converged into a small black dot.
