Chapter 90 More Prejudice
Chapter 90 More Prejudice
Few people knew why Aion left the town that morning, so no one made a fuss when he returned. Still, his mother made a fuss when he returned. With her bear hug, she was starting to cause more damage than Caelis did. Aion felt that she could have won the duel and gotten a flawless victory…
"You look fine, even though you didn't take your armor… is this the mark of a foot on your chest?" Artemisia asked while frowning.
"Yeah… he landed a good one," Aion said. "Regardless, Caelis is done. We only need to worry about making the transition of the territory go as smoothly as possible. Also, tell Bertham to look for a blacksmith that can make full body armor in this design. I want this ready as soon as possible, so he should look for someone who can work hard."
"This seems too big for you… did you get a friend that is willing to help you?" Artemisia asked.
"Something like that," Aion replied.
Aion wanted to make use of his death knights as soon as possible since the people of the attached territory or the neighbors might try to attack. The only downside of those was the fact that they could only exist while Aion was using the class. When it comes to elemental magic and skills, he can use them even when he isn't equipped with the right class, but using Necromancy with other classes will take a while.
The next day, Jairo received the orders to take half of his men and go guard the dungeon. Only at that moment had he heard about the duel, and he had a hard time believing it. Still, he found the traces of a battle as he approached, and for the first time in a long while; he didn't see anyone near the dungeon.
During the afternoon, they were setting their camp there when they found some members of the guild and the guild master approaching. The guild was rather small, it only had one hundred members, and only thirty or so of them could fight. Still, those thirty were told to come to explore the dungeon by Aion's orders. It was a pity, but he couldn't stay in the dungeon all the time… so the guild would make use of it as well and give him half of the profits.
Aion showed up only on the last day and didn't say much to them… he went to check the villages in the area and spread the news. They might want to stay there if they want, but then the villagers will have to follow his rules. Artemisia also said that she wanted to come and do some diplomatic work, but Aion doubted that such a thing would be necessary. He already had a fair taste of how unreasonable those people could be…
It didn't take long for Aion to reach the first village and as one would expect, the people there frowned when they saw him. The place was quite rustic and there were no houses, only tents. They were camping nearby the same river that Aion was planning to move a part of, and they also used it to get some fish. However, Aion noticed that they still had a lot of meat around, and he wondered where that came from… Regardless, when Aion approached, they grabbed their weapons.
"It would be better if you guys don't do anything like that…" Aion said. "Did any of you hear that the lord of the region changed?"
Aion suddenly summoned his spear and then asked that. Making weapons appear out of nowhere was something that few people could do, so the people there raised their guards. They heard a few rumors about that, but aside from the fact that the leader of the region could control the dungeon of the area, there wasn't anything else that would change. Still, now and then, some people of the villages would leave to hunt with the group that always goes to the dungeon.
"It seems that you have heard of that… anyway, your leader was defeated by me, and we bet our territories on the fight. Now I am the lord of this region as well," Aion said. "You have two options: move to somewhere else or stay here and follow my rules."
Everyone knew about his fame as Caelis, so they laughed at the idea that a kid had defeated him. Aion truly wanted to show them as his death knight, but he left him at home to protect his mother after he got the armor. In the end, fighting in close range with the necromancer class wasn't a good idea, but Aion made it work by using Inner Force.
When the armed guys came to attack him, Aion dodged to the side, kicked their legs, made them fall, and then hit their stomachs, making them fly for a couple of methods while agonizing without air in their lungs. He did the exact same thing until he got tired of it and the enemies stopped coming. Turning them into skeletons because of their stupidity was an option, but Aion decided not to go too far.
"I changed my mind. You guys will have to scram," Aion said. "You have one week to get out, don't make me return and see you guys still here."
Aion left after saying that he would have to cross around two hundred kilometers to find all the villages in the area and to pass the same message. So, giving them one week to leave was more than enough.
Still, over that week, Aion only found idiots in the villages… he learned that the people of Zaera kingdom weren't the only ones filled with prejudice. They didn't even know that he was part of that magic lineage, and they still hated him that much. Still, that saved Aion from the trouble of making people from two different kingdoms work together.
After two weeks, Aion confirmed that the nomads had left the area, but now he had to guard a larger area with the soldiers that he had… it was time to create a skeletons army, but Aion will have to find another solution since he couldn't stay in that class forever. While he was thinking about that, Aion received an unexpected visitor…
