Chapter 526: To His Liking

In Sea City’s Secondary Hospital, at the interventional department, Wang Qiang was busy.

Ever since Gao Shaojie left, Wang Qiang had been busy.

Whatever Teacher Gao needed, Wang Qiang strived to meet.

The medical system passed down from one doctor to another had been gradually established as time passed after the reform.

For example, if a PhD student who graduated from Northern Medicine was lucky enough to be assigned to Concorde, the first lesson learned by the graduates was that they had a poor foundation, so they had to work harder. They had to work hard, or else they would be left far behind by their colleagues from Concorde.

They were still considered ‘Northern Medicine’. It was the same for Huaxi people and other small medical schools when they went to Concorde.

It was the same for even the local schools.

Wang Qiang took the initiative to tie himself to Gao Shaojie’s chariot. However, this bond was not solid. Even if Gao Shaojie was deflected from the First Affiliated Hospital of Provincial Capital Medical University, it would not have had much of an effect on Wang Qiang.

Therefore, that matter would have made things beneficial for Wang Qiang.

However, the problem was that their relationship was still not close enough. Teacher Gao would not pay much attention to Sea City’s Secondary Hospital.

Wang Qiang knew this. Therefore, he tried very hard to understand Teacher Gao’s psychology and needs.

Now, Teacher Gao Shaojie needed TIPS surgery, so it was something that he needed as well.

When things were mutually beneficial, it would foster a good relationship between people.

These few days, Wang Qiang did not do anything else. While Cheng Lixue was at home recuperating, he ‘commandeered’ all the department’s resources.

He left detailed records of all kinds of information about the patients after TIPS surgery.

What surprised him was that the emergency department’s Chief Resident from Sea City General Hospital seemed to have very good post-op care for the patients after the TIPS operation.

The high difficulty and mortality rate of TIPS surgery suddenly became as simple as an appendectomy.

Three days after the operation, the patients were all discharged as they wanted to go back home.

There was nothing wrong. The ascites had subsided. Who would still want to stay in the hospital? The problems faced by Sea City General Hospital would also be faced by the Secondary Hospital.

Previously in the late stage of cirrhosis, patients with stubborn ascites would not be able to go home even if they wanted to. Why would they? It would be so swollen that they could not even lie down. They might as well stay in the hospital and have a quick dose of furosemide to relax.

Now after Zheng Ren’s surgery, the patient’s ascites had subsided extremely quickly. Seeing his stomach shrink at a speed visible to the naked eye, the patient and the patient’s family members were so happy that they could not pick up their jaws from the floor.

However, the next thing they did was complain and despise them.

In a small ward more than ten square meters wide, there were three patients and at least three escorts. The dirty air and noisy environment did not sit well with the patient’s psyche.

The small details that they did not care about before the operation had now become a big problem.

Wang Qiang wanted to gather more information but this was not a scientific research center. He could not stand guard at the department door with a wooden stick and forbid the patients from returning home after their drip had finished.

For stuff like this, he could only do an urgent blood test every morning to leave behind traces of the patient’s recovery on record.

In addition, Wang Qiang mobilized all his resources and began to look for new patients who needed TIPS surgery.

Wang Qiang knew that Teacher Gao was also doing the same.

This was the icing on the cake. Moreover, it helped that Teacher Zheng tried to avoid traveling too frequently as he would be tired afterward. Wang Qiang guessed that this worked well with Teacher Gao’s wishes.

In the beginning, Chief Zhang said that there would treat as many patients in the advanced stages of cirrhosis who went to the Secondary Hospital. He was just bragging.

But as an infectious disease hospital in a prefecture-level city, there really were not many hepatitis-B patients.

Especially now, the patients all had WeChat groups to communicate with each other. Once a certain drug or place had a particularly good treatment effect, this information spread like a virus. Within a few days, many people knew about it.

Wang Qiang looked for those with the disease through his acquaintances and even through the patient groups.

All his efforts were rewarded.

In just a few days, Wang Qiang had collected six patients who needed to undergo TIPS surgery.

Six was barely enough.

Wang Qiang did not want to do too much at once. He had his own little idea, which was to frequently invite Teacher Gao and Teacher Zheng to do the surgery.

He handed the patient to the young doctor beneath him to write the medical records and perform the preoperative check-up. Wang Qiang then dragged his tired body to the Director’s office.

He did not need to look at Cheng Lixue’s expression anymore, which made Wang Qiang feel pleased.

Sitting on the boss’s chair, Wang Qiang lit up a Jade Stream. He happily took a puff and dialed Gao Shaojie’s number.

“Teacher Gao, is it convenient to talk to you at the moment?

“Ah, it’s just that the patients who have undergone surgery performed by your last TIPS surgery need to undergo a second-stage surgery soon.

“Yes, yes. I’m afraid that you’ve forgotten.

“Oh right, Teacher Gao, I’ve found six more patients with advanced cirrhosis. Yes, they all have indications for TIPS surgery.

“Okay, I...

“Oh, that’s good. We’ll talk about it when you’re here later.”

After saying that, Wang Qiang heard the other person hang up as he kept his own phone with a smile.

His hard work had finally been rewarded!

Wang Qiang could confirm this point from Gao Shaojie’s excited tone. Moreover, Teacher Gao did not even try to hide it. He said that he would contact Zheng Ren and that he would come immediately if there was a surgery.

Although Wang Qiang had already lowered his status toward Zheng Ren, he still felt that it was too embarrassing to fawn over a young doctor who was not even thirty years old.

This was especially so in regards to the handsome assistant beside Zheng Ren, who was as pretty as a woman. He also had a sharp tongue and sharper wit that got on Wang Qiang’s nerves.

All he needed to do was to cling to Teacher Gao’s thigh. Wang Qiang smiled and seemed to see a beautiful and bright future in the smoke.

..

..

Zheng Ren returned to his office. Before he could sit down, his phone rang.

He picked up his phone and saw that it was from an unfamiliar number. His heart felt a little less anxious.

As long as it was not the emergency department, there was no need to be too anxious no matter who called.

“Hello.

“Oh, okay. Have you finished the patient’s preoperative examination?

“Yes, okay. Then bring the scans here tomorrow. I’ll take a look first.

After a few simple sentences, Zheng Ren hung up the phone.

“Boss, you’ve been getting busier and busier recently,” Su Yun joked.

“Yes, the patients from the Secondary Hospital who underwent TIPS surgery the last time need their second-stage operation,” Zheng Ren said. “They’ve prepared six more patients. Bring the scans tomorrow.”

“Do more and do better. Tell them that I want to have access to all the patient’s information,” Su Yun said.

Zheng Ren was stuck in a difficult position.

“Boss, you’re the one who wants me to write the thesis!” Su Yun complained. “You don’t even know the faces of those foreign judges, especially when they’re reading our article. If there’s even the slightest mistake, they’ll criticize us. That’s how good they are. If you don’t prepare the information well, are you just gonna let yourself be the laughing stock?”

Zheng Ren raised his hand in surrender.

This whole ordeal was not a big deal as Sea City General Hospital’s Chief Zheng was easy to convince.

At worst, he would just credit all the authors of his seventh, eighth, ninth, and even tenth papers.

Although it was useless internationally, they would be very happy.

After all, their names would appear in the top international papers.

Just as he put down the phone, the department’s landline rang again.

Zheng Ren was troubled.
