Chapter 80: Calling the Police (1)
“Willing! I’m willing!”
Xi Yun almost shouted those words, freed himself from He Qingwan’s arms, and hugged Su Tian’s waist.
He lay in Su Tian’s arms, crying loudly, crying intensely, crying wildly, crying such that his body was trembling with tears, crying himself to exhaustion.
For all these years, he hadn’t dared to cry when he’d been beaten, he hadn’t dared to cry when he’d been starved, he hadn’t dared to cry when he’d been bullied. It was only now that he dared to really, truly cry.
All the grievances, sadnesses, despair, and resentment he had suffered… he cried it all out.
Su Tian gently pat his back. The little boy that had finally gained some weight had become skinny again, rubbing his back chafed her hands a little.
She didn’t stop him and let him continue to cry freely.
Human tolerance was limited. Some emotions would inevitably become twisted after being suppressed for such a long time. For example, Boss Liu, who’d been suppressed for so many years, still hadn’t vented yet. Now, his personality was actually a bit off.
But, Liu Kaiyan wasn’t like Xi Yun. Xi Yun was still small, so he just needed to cry for a while to be okay.
He was troublesome though.
It wasn’t until the car drove out of the city and they’d been driving on the highway for a while, that Xi Yun slowly stopped crying and weeping in her arms.
After a while, he stiffened and scrambled out of Su Tian’s arms. His face no longer looked like he was going to cry, but it became very red.
He had suddenly remembered that his upper body was still naked. Although he had put on his trousers, he had been seen by so many people just now.
And, he had even cried like a little kid in front of so many people.
Xi Yun wailed, covered his face, hating that he couldn’t crawl and hide under the car.
The people in the car couldn’t help but start laughing.
The heavy and sad atmosphere had been swept away just now. Even the driver silently turned up the music volume, the whole car sounding with a cheerful rhythm.
After a two-hour drive, the car got off the highway and finally entered into the political, economical, and cultural center of China.
Su Tian directly said: “Sir, I’ll have to trouble you to send us to the nearest police station.”
Going to the police station, everyone in the car knew what it was for.
“Okay!” The drive responded and with several turns of the steering wheel, changed lanes.
Before going to the police station, Su Tian called Officer Liu and explained Xi Yun’s situation, finally asking:
“If my mother is willing to adopt Xi Yun, can Xi Zhiqiang be sentenced and have his guardianship rights taken away?”
Officer Liu: “If there’s solid evidence, the chance of success isn’t small. It’s just that Xi Yun has other relatives. Unless they automatically give up Xi Yun’s custody, it’s unlikely that you’ll get…”
He had long known about Xi Yun being domestically abused. Someone had called the police before Su Tian moved in. The police had come forward, but it was very hard for them to handle such cases.
The police fined Xi Zhiqiang, but he just turned around and beat the child in anger. In the end, it was still Xi Yun suffering. If they arrested Xi Zhiqiang, what would Xi Yun do? Who would raise him? Counting on his relatives? Well, he reckoned they were probably not much better than Xi Zhiqiang.
The police could only punish lightly and try to do some ideological reform. But, it was obvious that Xi Zhiqiang was the rock at the bottom of the pit, impervious to reform and punishment. In the end, the police were too lazy to bother to control him.
Su Tian convincing Xi Yun’s other relatives to give up custody is successful in eight or nine out of ten cases.
Officer Liu was truly happy for Xi Yun. This kid counted as having grown into a sturdy tree and should be blessed later in life.
